The tour "Off the Beaten Track in Marrakech: Medina Tour" was simply great to gain an authentic insight into the life of the people in Marrakech - from the past, but also from the present. You can feel and see that Jafaar grew up here. He knows Marrakech like the back of his hand and shows you people and places that you would never have come across without his expert guidance. He radiates a great sense of calm and dignity, points out the special features with restrained pride and always responds to the wishes of his guests. Redoan turned late with a real attitude. Having agreed to meet us at our hotel he then said it was totally inconvenient. He then refused to conduct the tour we paid for .He made us feel so uncomfortable we feared for our safety .We abandoned the tour eventually we got a refund but just locals refused to give us his details in terms of licence to co.plain to the police .Also total ripp off we got a better guide through the hotel at a third cheaper Avoid with locals at all cost

Une belle expérience passée avec Redouan au sein de la médina. Très agréable contact, personne avenante souriante mais plus à l’aise pour s’exprimer en anglais qu’en français, du coup les explications ont été parfois un peu hasardeuses. La promenade était très agréable mais nous avons regretté le temps trop long à notre goût passé dans les souks où on sent bien le passage obligé dans certaines boutiques pour faire des achats. Nous aurions aimé plus de partage sur l’histoire et le patrimoine culturel de la ville. Merci ! Promenade dans la medina

My family and I had a wonderful walking tour with Omar. Earlier this year, my mother passed away, and during our tour, Omar kindly helped me find someone to fix one of her belts — a gesture that meant a lot. He also took us to some hidden gems in the Medina that we would have never found on our own. I know that tour guides sometimes receive commissions from the places they take you to, but the good news is that the experience never felt pushy. Everyone we met was welcoming, and we genuinely enjoyed the stops along the way. Omar also helped us organize a driver for a day trip outside of Marrakech, which made our travels even smoother. We booked the Off the Beaten Track in Marrakech: Medina Tour with Redouan on the very day we arrived in Marrakech – and we couldn’t have wished for a better start to our trip! It was, without a doubt, the most authentic and enriching way to dive into the heart of the city. Redouan greeted us warmly at the meeting point and led us on an unforgettable journey, starting from the more well-known parts of the Medina and gradually guiding us deeper into its hidden corners. His knowledge of the city is simply incredible – it felt like he knew every alley, every artisan, every secret doorway. We were constantly amazed at the gems he revealed to us, places we would never have found on our own. We took the tour with our two children, aged 8 and 11, and they were absolutely enchanted by the experience. It was only two of us on the tour, and it felt lazy- I was not impressed, as it turned into a shopping tour- it felt like Redouan took us to all his friend’s shops. His friends were very keen to show us all of the products. I had to keep saying ‘no, not now, we will look later.’ I did not want this on the tour- I can go shopping in my own time. We arrived at the meeting point 5 minutes early and although the place was quite spacious and there weren't many people, we were getting restless waiting for our guide Jaafar, who was a few minutes late. However, when we saw a familiar person from the photo seen on Withlocals walking towards us with a calm step, we immediately calmed down. Jaafar told us what we would do for those couple of hours, what we would see, and led the four of us through the narrow and winding streets of the Medina deep into the local hustle and bustle of sellers, buyers, workers, and artisans. Jaafar traveled at a calm but confident pace, turning around from time to time to check if we were following him. From time to time, he would stop and tell us something interesting about one or another place in the Medina. While traveling through the streets of the Medina among the stalls, it was clear that he knew almost everyone here and almost everyone knew him. We had a great time in the Medina, learned a lot and saw even more. A great excursion that I recommend to others.Private medina walk

We had an amazing time Redouan, exploring all of the local areas of the souks. We learnt all about the history of the city and were shown the way the locals cooked bread in the old wood fired ovens. We were taken to hidden areas but also spent a lot of times in stores. He spent more time with us as planned which lead to a great experience overall being had. A great day exploring

What a great experience we had with Hassan today! My husband and I enjoyed a very authentic tour of the Medina that allowed us to see a ‘local’ perspective that we would never have seen on our own. This private experience is well worth the money - Hassan is incredibly generous with his knowledge and with his showcasing of the local cultures within the Medina. While we went to many local artisan shops where we could purchase goods, we never felt any pressure to do so. However many of the shops were in support of local co-operatives; so while similar goods could be found in the ‘tourist’ souks, the quality and craftsmanship of the local artisans was readily apparent. Highly recommend Hassan for his knowledge, style of guiding, and his warm and friendly attitude. Excellent local experience

Adil was welcoming, warm and friendly. He was very passionate about his city and had lots of knowledge to share. He was happy to be asked questions and took time to answer them. Adil engaged with our children (7&11) who had a super experience in a busy and chaotic environment compared to their experiences of life in a quiet spot in Wales. We were hungry at the end of our tour and were keen to eat some traditional Moroccan food, have a view over the square and have food which our children would eat also. Omar, was a wonderful host, knowledgeable and patient. It was my children’s first experience of an environment like this, it can be overwhelming, he took them both under his wing and showed them sights and experiences of the medina. My children (10 & 6) absolutely loved it, Omar ensure it was an interactive, educational and engaging experience! I would highly recommend Omar as a guide for anyone and age. We had a fabulous tour with Omar. From the beginning he engaged with our 9 and 11 year old meaning they asked questions and were never bored. Omar was particularly brilliant with our son who has ADHD and is really struggles to listen!! He was super kind to him which made the whole experience relaxing for us!
