We had a really enjoyable and informative time on our tour with Srikanth. Beforehand we were somewhat apprehensive about taking a slum tour, but Srikanth soon put us at ease and we never felt uncomfortable, imposing or unsafe at any time, maintaining a tone of respect and dignity for the residents at all times. He took great time to explain the many fascinating aspects of daily life in the slums, all the amazing commercial activities in a never to be forgotten experience. We also loved gifting the pens and pencils (that we brought with us) at the school to the young children. As an added bonus, Srikanth is a professional photographer and he took so many great photos that he shared with us. Do not hesitate to book a tour with Mohan who made contact as soon as we booked the tour of Dharavi and kept in touch until we met up. Shrikanth was easy to communicate with and quickly responded to my texts. He was at the meeting place early. Srikanth was an excellent guide! He was early to our meeting point, was knowledgeable about the things we were interested in (NGOs, political party stances on the best supports for the people), and respectful of both the residents and our family. Our 12 and 16 yo children had strong emotional responses to the experience and Srikanth was great with honoring that. He even waited with us afterwards to make sure our Uber found us! We had been unsure about going on a slum tour but Shrikanth was a fabulous guide and quickly put us at our ease. He was very knowledgeable and spent time telling us about the industries within Dharavi and local opposition to plans to demolish the area. The respectful, positive relationships he has with local residents were obvious throughout the tour. We visited a range of local businesses where we were welcomed in to look round, Shrikanth even took photos of us - much better than we could have taken ourselves- which he later emailed (for no extra charge). We would highly recommend this tour if you want a better understanding of life in the slum.Excellent tour

Shrikanth did a wonderful job sharing his knowledge and showing us around the dharavi neighborhood. He was soft spoken gentle and respectful with us as well as with individuals we encountered in the neighborhood., He shared stories about the livelihoods and businesses that are run within and support the local dharavi economy as well as the controversy among residents regarding the dharavi restoration project. We walked thru alleys and byways I would never go through on my own. He gave us an appreciation of the challenges of this neighborhood and the resourcefulness of its residents. I traveled with my family including my three children ages 16,19,&21. We generally felt safe. As a woman I would recommend wearing long pants and scarf or dhuppata for discretion as well as to cover mouth and nose when going thru some smokey areas. Alternatively one could bring a mask if you have asthma. Also recommend wearing closed toe shoes and bringing a bottle of water. Overall we are very glad we did it and highly recommend this dharavi tour with Shrikanth. Eye opening and educational

We did the "Off the Beaten Track in Mumbai - Dharavi Tour" with Chandramohan. It was a very interesting, intense and unforgettable tour. You might wonder if it is ethically correct to visit a place where rather poor people live in challenging circumstances and if you are save there. The clear answer is YES - if you choose this tour and this guide. Chandramohan introduced us to many different aspects of the Dharavi slum and showed us how lively as well as busy this area is. We were impressed by what we saw and gratefull to him for directing our eyes to the details and the stories behind. With him we didn't feel as spectators to see "how poor people live", but got insight into how clever as well as pragmatic they manage their lifes and business. We didn't feel unsecure or unsafe for a moment , he is a very experienced guide and took good care of us. So don't worry at all. Chandramohan has a good sense of humour so we had quite some fun together. Communication with Chandramohan was pleasant, he is absolutely reliable. I have experienced a wonderful tour with Shrikanth in Mumbai slums. It is truly out of the beaten track and a complete must in Mumbai which will leave a lot of impressions. Shrikanth is very experienced and knows all the shortcuts and right ways, it is easy to get lost there. As well he took wonderful pictures as he has « an eye » for the memories. He is friendly, polite and well-behaved man. I was very comfortable as a single female. Our trip was unique as we got caught by heavy rain right when we were ok the middle of the tour which allowed us to be invited by some families where we were nicely treated. Shrikanth took me on a great tour of Dharavi. He was really knowledgeable and thoughtful and explained the different communities of people living and working in this area. We saw all sorts of manufacturing in progress - pottery, glass cutting, textiles, leatherwork, baking. He was very kind, considerate and courteous, and even took me for some food at the end of our tour as he knew I was hungry. Shrikant took us on a very interesting and challenging tour of the Dharavi Slum. The way people live here made a huge impression. At first sight everything looks very depressing in the eyes of a privileged westerner - but Shrikant also told us the stories about the thriving businesses and strong willed survivors of the area. It all gave us a better understanding of why many people choose to stay here and will fight the governments attempts to clear the slums. It was an eye opener - so was the tour around the different areas of Dharavi. From the neat and narrow streets of the Tamil Society, to the school of Hip Hop, the black walled pottery area, and the super expensive goat and busy bakery we came across in the Muslim area. We will never forget this tour and our meeting with a knowledgeable photographer who has spent many hours exploring and intervening with these unique societies of Mumbai. I visited Dharavi Slums with Shrikanth for a private tour and it was a very special experience. I had heard a lot about the slums, and wanted to experience them as much as I could as an outsider, and get a better insight into what the lives of this community are like. Shrikanth was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide and gave me some great tips for places to eat after the tour was over. Wow, the Dharavi tour with Shrikanth was incredible, insightful and so much fun! His calm, confident and caring presence made me feel very safe in the hectic and congested lanes there. Shrikanth showed me so much during the non-stop 2 and a half hour tour. We stopped and visited people working at bakeries, recycling, garment, leather and pottery making work places, schools and homes. He was informative about the people and their work and lives, and answered all my questions. The people were really welcoming and friendly, especially the children who were playing outside their homes or schools. They wanted to speak English with me, allowed me to photograph them, and one girl even gave me candy! Shrikanth's sharp ears detected the music of an ongoing wedding. The people at the Gujarati wedding were wearing amazing clothes, and invited me to dance with them. It was such a thrill to dance at my first Indian wedding! Shrikanth is an excellent photographer and took many photos and videos of me throughout the tour which he sent me the very same day! I will always cherish these heart-warming memories of the inspiring and vibrant people and children of Dharavi! Shrikanth took us to Dharavi, the biggest slum in Mumbai. What a life-changing experience ! First Shrikanth is extremely knowledgeable. He knows all the communities living in Dharavi and explained their different cultures, religions and activities. He explained all the issues of the people living there, the sanitation , water and plastic problems but also their intense economic activities. He showed us the schools and daily lives of people. We were impressed by the respect and dignity in Dharavi, how open minded the adults and children are, openly greeting us and talking to us in very good English. The people there really touched our hearts and we are so thankful to Shrikanth for providing what is not a tour but an human experience.Life-changing Experience

My wife and I spent a great few hours walking the streets of Dharavi with Shrikanth. It was a wonderful opportunity to simply explore, stroll thru the area and see a very different part of Mumbai that we would never have seen otherwise. It was not an overly 'touristy' experience, but instead an entertaining walk thru neighbourhoods while having an extended discussion with Shrikanth about his life and ours.Exploring the streets of Dharavi
