We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of the Jalatlaco area in Oaxaca. We had been up really early to get to Oaxaca from Mexico City, but as soon as we met Tanivet, her energy and enthusiasm gave me a second wind! The booking process and communication was excellent, and it was an easy spot to meet. The content of the tour was excellent, Tanivet has a wealth of knowledge of the area and culture which she very clearly communicated to us as she told stories about Oaxaca's history right through to the more recent street art. We spent our last afternoon in Oaxaca with Tanivet, who customized our tour so that we could explore both the Jalatlaco and Xicholmilco neighborhoods before we left. We appreciated that she was especially patient and easygoing given we had our two small children with us in a stroller. She led us to so many beautiful murals and peaceful corners and shared about her personal experience growing up in the neighborhood. We got to drop in a couple of hidden artisan workshops, that we never would have found on our own and try the local beverage tejate. We'd highly recommend Tanivet's tours!Perfect Afternoon in Oaxaca

It was a pleasure to have Tanivet as our guide for a walking tour of the Jalatlaco barrio this week. We explored the neighbourhood and its street art in a way that we never could have on our own. She was exceptionally knowledgeable about the neighbourhood and it's history, all delivered in a warm and friendly manner. Tanivet was great. She met us at our private residence. She then took time to introduce us to the Xichomoto barrio which is near where we are staying. This was a spectacular tour, both for the day's features (which are magnificent) as well as the tour guide. Tanivet wasn't only relating information, but she was calling upon decades of first hand knowledge of Monte Albán. Her father had worked at the site for years, and she knows a lot of back history and tells stories about how it used to look before it became more organized for tourism. Very strong recommendation.We loved Tanivet!

Sofia was amazing! I can’t say enough good things about her. I asked for a personalized tour (seeing the sights I wanted rather than something already planned) and she was more than happy to accommodate. Spending the day with someone born and raised in Oaxaca was perfect. Aside from communicating the importance of specific sites and histories she’s very passionate about her home city which our day that much better. I had a small group of 6 people. Rolando was knowledgeable, funny and easy going. His walking tour of downtown gave us a brief, yet informative overview of some of the architectural, cultural and historical highlights found here. While walking to several small art galleries, museums (e.g. Fundación Alfredo Harp Helú), and churches (e.g. Iglesia Santo Domingo), Rolando shared insights related to the urban planning layout of the city or the architectural style of the buildings or even his favorite street food vendors found along the way. It was magnificent. But perhaps the most unique experience from this tour was walking just outside the city limits to visit the last remaining tin and textile workshops in downtown Oaxaca. He took us to two mercados and we learned a lot about the culture and history of many of the items there. Our family of 4 enjoyed a tour and tasting of traditional Oaxacan food, hosted by Raquel. Raquel was engaging and friendly and shared her passion and knowledge for Oaxacan food and culture with us. We loved the market experience and tastings there, made more interesting by Raquel explaining some of the different foods, traditional, art work, etc. It was also lovely to see the relationships she has built over time with the market and food truck/restaurant vendors. Additionally, Raquel was so kind when my husband had to exit the tour due to an issue with his foot and walking too much the previous days. She arranged a taxi for him back to the hotel and also made sure we were able to get some special take away food for him from her favorite places.
