The tour with Park Champ was an unik and unfurgetable private experiense. We were a family of 5 people on the tour with Park and his driver. 2 adults and 3 children at the age 6, 13, 16. Everybody was excided over the excellent trip with many differentieret experienses. The private tour gave us the opportunite to se som unik places that we whouldn't have seen on a turist bus. Pak Camp was a great guide for this amazing trip! All the stops along the way were fantastic! Ranging from Harmony town (where 4 worship houses stand right next to each other), the fortress (not really that nice, but in an area crouded by monkeys - ideal for the monkey selfie), the traditional Malay village (and special treat, the herb garden), the local restaurant (really not touristy and a flavor of local cuisine), leading up to the fireflies. I never expected to see that many! And all the while getting insights to the country by the proud Pak. Thanks again!Better than expected!

Our family enjoyed the customised tour Pak Champ arranged for us - we visited the Batu Caves, Bukit Melawati, Kuala Selangor Nature park where we saw silver-leafed monkeys, and the Kuala Selangor River in the evening to see the fireflies. We have two boys aged 4 and 7 and they had a great time with Pak Champ, who patiently answered all their questions. I did the fireflies tour with Pak, he was great, informative and friendly. Great chat all the way through. It was cool to see the monkey’s going up to the fort (there were 2 types, neither weren’t the ‘steal your food or items kind). The pictures shown by the withlocals page aren’t exactly what I saw/experienced not sure why as the real things are really good eg. The Malaysian houses(s) I went to are MUCH better than shown in the pic (they were 100-150 years old). Note: the prices are quite high for this, however I found out it was more due to the commission taken by withlocals than the tour guide’s cut. (they can give a breakdown if you ask) It was a good and worthwhile experience with Pak and highly recommended.

We were feeling very down due to heavy rain and traffic but Champ was so energetic, optimistic and reassuring that everything would be alright. In the end we had the best time, my kids both enjoyed speaking with Champ and he taught them many things about Malaysian culture and the lifestyle. Our family of 10 had a great time with Champ, visiting the Batu Caves, seeing the silver leaf monkeys in Kuala Selangor, and of course seeing the fireflies by boat. Champ is a personable and thoughtful host, providing water for us on the hot day and peanuts so we could feed the monkeys. We had a great time with Pak! He gave us a tour around the Batu Caves, the hindu temple, the monkeys and the fireflies. And on top of that we got a great meal at the fish restaurant. Pak was friendly and punctual. He shared a lot of Malay culture and history with us as we drove to Kuala Selangor. He was extremely accommodating as I had some shellfish allergies, so we ate a different restaurant instead of where he usually takes his guests on this tour. We got to see some silver leaf monkeys. It was neat to see the fireflies, although it was almost full moon and low tide, so not ideal conditions for the fireflies, but that was obviously of no fault to Pak! We still enjoyed it. I recommend choosing Pak as a guide!Friendly guide, excellent tour!

Champ took us to the Batucaves and the fireflies. Champ really likes to share all his knowledge! We learned a lot about Malaysia. When we arrived at the fireflies there was a big cue. Just when we stepped in the boat it started to rain heavilly. We had to wait for 1 more hour until the rain stopped. Champ was very patient and relaxed. With his magic he arranged the rain to stop just before closing time :-) At 10 pm we had an amazing boat trip, seeing thousands of fireflies. It was worth all the waiting!Great host

Pak Champ was our host for the day. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. We had a gentle paced, but packed afternoon and evening. It was relaxing even in the busy-ness of the day. We were picked up in an air-conditioned car (always started quickly so it was cool when we got in) and Champ is a safe driver. Pick up time was prompt, he organised all our tickets and even dinner sorted ahead of time. The caves are quite a climb and it's hot, so the cold coconut from Champ was very welcome. This tour was AMAZING! Probably one of the best days I've ever had. Cham was awesome. Tour started seeing a beautiful HIndu temple. From there, we went to feed the silver leaf monkeys. There were tons of them and very friendly! I loved tasting the different foods at the sunset dinner, while enjoying a gorgeous sunset on the river. I cannot say enough great things about the tours I did with Pak Champ @ withlocals. I did both the Fireflies and Batu Caves with Pak and both were awesome. Feeding the monkeys was fantastic and the view from the Monkey Village was to die for. Seafood dinner was excellent, when I tasted the Chilli Crab (house specialty) I thought I had died and gone to heaven. So much sight seeing packed into both tours. Pak Champ was very knowledgeable and had many anecdotes which made everything all the more interesting. Pak is a very sociable man and made both my tours and experience to remember. Our driver was quite informative and friendly; Pak made our tour an enjoyable experience. The Silver Leaf monkeys were delight, and we spent a fun time feeding them while watching their antics and interactions with the other tourists; there were people everywhere. Hint: get there as early as you can. The meal was very good, but this is where you have to watch out for the mozzies, they hide under the tables. The chilli crab was excellent but beware, it is hot, the other items were butter prawns and stir-fried Tilapia; all with served fried rice - quite filling. Be prepared for a wait to get onto a village boat, there are many tourists and it took about forty (40) minutes before we were underway. The fireflies were 'pretty cool' but not as many as we hoped, but their numbers vary according to the season and it must be a quieter time in late July. However, it was worth the effort to come and see them; it is amazing to see such a small creature create so much 'light'. The drive back is through a lit up KL and that in itself is an interesting experience. We would recommend the tour, and if you can time it for a new moon then all the better. My daughter and I booked a 6 hour tour with Pak Champ to see Kuala Selangor and the fireflies. Pak Champ was a fabulous guide. He is definitely a local and pointed out some of the Kuala Lumpur sites as we drove out of town. On the way to see the monkeys he stopped to highlight some of the cultural sites like a beautiful Hindu temple and we even got to see some of the local homes in Kuala Selangor. The monkeys were very friendly and a definite highlight of our trip to Malaysia. The seafood dinner was tasty and the view from the restaurant was gorgeous. We had an amazing firefly tour also. It was perfect firefly viewing weather with a dark night and no rain. They really do light up the trees like miniature LEDs. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kuala Lumpur. Getting out of the city for a few hours was a wonderful addition to our trip and they monkeys and fireflies were a truly unique experience. This trip to Malaysia was a much anticipated break. We were spending the first part in KL and wanted to experience something special whilst there. We found Pak Champ's 'expedition' after searching online via 'WithLocals'. How fortunate we were! Pak uplifted us from our hotel bang on time and we drove out of KL. The heavens opened - but Pak promised us the weather would soon break and he was right! First stop the old fort that used to be the Sultan's residence - little to see there now of the fort - but the main attraction was the monkeys. Hilarious! Great fun feeding them, lots of photos and just generally a good time. Great views over the Malacca Straits. Then we were off to our evening meal - via Pak's family village. This included a visit to his old family home and a great chat about the style of houses etc. The riverside restaurant seafood meal was mainly chinese style - it was delicious. This included lots of crab claws - and the hammer to break them up with. You can buy some beers here to accompany the food. You also get a preferential seating at a riverside table - so you can watch the sunset. All beautiful. Then off to the fireflies river. This was simply spectacular. I am not going to describe it. Book this tour and experience it for yourself!! Again - preferential treatment compared to others visiting. Pak has negotiated things well! After this, we returned to KL - with an option to visit a Hindu temple - but we were getting tired! The thing about this adventure is the extra things - Pak's excellent care and the continuing flow of information about everything we saw provided great insights. All in all, one of the best experiences we have ever had, anywhere in the world. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. Thanks again, Pak! What a fantastic experience!

This was the best tour I ever had: fireflies where amazing, the monkeys, lovely nive diner, and especially the guide Pak Champ! He is personal, has a lot of knowledge about the sights, and cultural difference in Malysia, and the city KL. He also stopped at a temple and at his grandmothers house where his aunt is living nowadays. I would everyone recomment to book a tour with Pak Champ! The best tour I ever had.

After fuming at the lack of motivation in our party to actually get off our collective posteriors and see something I took the plunge and hired Champ through With Locals and I am so glad I did. The hours we spent with Champ (and the redoubtable Bob, his trusty sidekick and driver) were without doubt the most enjoyable I experienced in a 21 day trip that encompassed Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The trip itself covered a trip to an old fort draped with peanut guzzling monkeys, none of whom were shy, to Champ's aunt's house where he described traditional Malay village living to a Chinese seafood emporium for dinner and culminated in a twenty minute punt ride under moonlight to see the fireflies lining the banks of the river. All of this was presented with Champ's knowledgeable commentary and easy charm (and Bob's occasional but welcome interventions) and I can't recommend them highly enough. In closing I'll say that my only regret was that I hadn't booked Champ for earlier in the trip so we could have done something else with him as well. Highlight of Short Trip to Malaysia

This tour was the highlight of our 7 day trip of which we also did another 4 tours! Pak Champ was also an exceptional host, and we knew it from the instant we met him. He greeted us across the lobby with a great big smile and a big handshake. Throughout the trip he made some great personalised stops, shedding some personal experiences on why Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Selangor are just some of the most amazing areas in Malaysia. From his school, grandmothers house, or even a nice little area containing a church, mosque and Chinese temple, Pak was determined to make sure we left KL in love with Malaysia. And we most certainly did. Just be careful of the monkeys, I accidentally stood on one behind me and it took a little nip out of my leg! Champ was absolutely incredible - incredibly flexible in planning, extremely knowledgable, fun and easy going, and gave us just the right amount us space. Secretly behind my back, my travel partner asked Champ to bring a cake on our trip because it was my birthday, and he delivered marvelously! Amazing!!! Wonderfull experience. Champ picked us (6 persons) up at our hotel in Kuala Lumpur and gave us an amazing tour: we were blessed by the Hindus in a temple, we feeded the monkeys at Monkey Village. I was in Malaysia recently and really did not want to leave the country without doing the firefly experience. I found Mr Champ's details on withlocals.com and I am glad I did. Mr Champ arrived on-time, spoke great English and had great banter. In addition to the firefly trip, Mr Champ also showed around other sites during the trip including his village home, which was a bonus. He has a lot of knowledge and always had some interesting nuggets of information to share. Riverside dining was also delicious. PAK Champ guides are almost always professional, knowledgeable and competent. Pak's enthusiasm for KL and Malaysia was infectious and added such color to the day that we felf like we were native born. We did not want the day to end. He and I discussed what my wife and I were interested in and he provided an itinerary that exceeded our expectations. Each site visited was great. Climbing 272 steps was worth the effort. While traffic is terrible his insight into Malaysian culture made sitting in traffic worth the time. It was a truly excellent day and we say "thank you" to PAK. Beyond fabulous
