Paris Opera Tour with a Professional Composer in Paris - 3377920caf3be596a2157bcd523cfcfb

Did you know that Paris became the capital city of the most important musicians and painters at the beginning of the XXth Century? Allow me to tell you all about this beautiful historical period.

I'm a Peruvian composer and pianist living and performing in Paris for the past 14 years. I've moved to Paris to perfect my composition technique and to further develop my experience of live performance. It's my pleasure to go on a musical journey with you! We'll visit the best Parisian venues where historic events in music took place.

Let's start by admiring the historic building of the Opera Comique founded by Louis XIV in 1714. This opera house was built at the end of the XIXth century.

After that, we head to the Opera Garnier. We will enter this magnificent building and explore its history and importance for the world music scene. I will give historical aspects of its construction and acoustics that are one of the best in the world.

After that, we will walk through the the famous rue de la Paix. Next, we will stop at a legendary "variétés" music venue where Edith Piaf and the Beatles performed.

Next, we'll arrive at a historic church. Built in the mid XIXth century, very colorful inside and important in a neighborhood where famous artists, intellectuals and musicians used to live.

I will point out the location of former Paris opera houses.

For the final stop, we'll walk the area of the greatest music shops where musicians from around the world look for their instruments and scores.

Feel free to give me a shout if there's anything you would like to add or change to this experience. I can always customize it for you!

We did the opera tour with Carlos and his deep knowledge of the Opera Garnier was evident. It elevated our experience at the historical landmark. Our tour then proceeded to other locations that are linked to the history of Opera and music in Paris. The day we went for the tour turned out to be rainy and cold yet however Mr Carlos made us feel very warm. He was very graceful, patient and open to questions. We look forward to witnessing him perform shortly and would highly recommend this tour.Unique and pleasant experience

Carlos is obviously very passionate about music and the appreciation of architecture and that came across quite clearly. Carlos pointed out so many points of interest in the Paris Opera House that we would have missed had we toured by ourselves. Thanks Carlos - it was a very enjoyable tour.Great tour

Most enjoyable. We were impressed with Carlos' knowledge of past and present musical Paris. Of particular interest was our tour of the Opera House where we learned so much about Parisian musical history. Leafing through the second-hand music was worthwhile, and at the end the pianist got to try out a piano and play a 4-hand duet. The musical theme is not often found on city tours and was an unexpected pleasure. thanksOne of the high points of our trip!

We had gotten to Paris and it was beautiful and all but it still felt dull. Carlo’s did a great job of bringing the city to life through its rich and long history. He was so kind and you can tell he was so passionate about what he was doing. When we got there , he was our tour guide. By the end of the night , we felt like we had made a new lifelong friend. Tour in Spanish!! Gracias Carlos Hernán.Knowledgeable!!

Carlos was a wonderful guide and took us to every place on our wish list in a very relaxed stroll over about 3 hours. We saw a couple of things we would have never seen and his calm, relaxed manner made our first morning in Paris a lovely one. Lots of walking but if you're prepared for that I would high recommend this option and Carlos. Thank you so much Wondeful walk through Paris

We took the 2.5 hour Walking Tour of Le Marais w/ Carlos Hernan. We arrived 10 minutes late (apologies again, Carlos!) and you simply could not ask for a more patient, knowledgeable, enjoyable guide than Carlos. No matter what small thing we pointed at “what’s that?” “what’s that?” “what’s that?” Carlos enthusiastically answered each question with a real depth of knowledge. I have no idea how, but Carlos exudes/creates a bubble of soothing zen calmness in what can be, at times, a slightly chaotic area of Paris, and that aspect boosted the overall experience (which was already great). Carlos was a joy!

We wanted to understand more about the history of what we were seeing in Paris but didn't want a structured group tour. On a whim, found Carlos and took a chance. He tailored the tour to our interests and provided excellent commentary about a plethora of things. This was one our best days. Day in Paris

Our group all found Carlos' tour to be excellent. Softly spoken with a wonderful demeanour he showed us parts of the Latin Quarter and shared fascinating history of the area in a way that we would have not have managed if we had been on our own. He was accommodating to our interests and the diversity of our group and warmly tolerant to our laggers :)! Would definitely recommend.Great Tour

Our tour of the Marais with Carlos was the highlight of our time in Paris. More than a guide, Carlos was a delightful host and companion: friendly, knowledgeable and charming. Carlos was a wonderful tour guide! It was our first full day in Paris and our first time visiting ever so we were very excited for this tour. We didn’t really give Carlos any guidance on what we wanted to see, but it was a PERFECT tour to start off our week in Paris. Our tour lasted the full 3 hours and was full of interesting stops, big monuments, historic anecdotes, and lots of unique perspectives that only a local would have. We had a very leisurely pace which was ideal for the long tour, but still saw so many things in this time frame! He was attentive to what we were interested in and had plenty of recommendations that he sent to us afterwards. Highly recommend booking with Carlos! Architecture, culture, art

On our last day in Paris, we wanted to view something unique and having been to Paris multiple times, we selected this tour for something very different. And it was a great choice. The length of the tour was just right and suited my 74 year old mum for the amount of walking required. Paris is beautiful but this tour was filled with usually unnoticed gems. It was made informative with Carlos's knowledge and he was such a pleasure to talk to throughout the experience. I thoroughly recommend this tour and taking it with Carlos, you won't be disappointed. Informative, fun and unique

Those of us in the South (USA, not France) view folks as gracious or non-gracious. We don't need a dictionary definition to figure out who is gracious and who is not. We just know it when we see it. Carlos is beyond gracious. He took us on the food tour last Wednesday, and my wife and I did not enjoy anything more on our trip than the time we spent with Carlos on the food tour. He walked us through the market and several more stops for a great culinary experience. Carlos was a terrific guide. We highly recommend Carlos and this tour. If you meet Carlos, you not only will enjoy the tour but walk away thinking that Carlos has been you good friend for years. Food Tour was Fabulous with Carlos

I arranged the tour for my older Mother and Aunt, both with bad knees and never in Paris before. Carlos took us on an easy walk through some great old passages of yesterday filled with interesting shops (we quickly stopped in a couple) and architecture. Carlos was fun, friendly, and attentive. A different side of Paris from the normal tourist spots. Saw great places to go back and relax and eat and shop later. Highly recommend, especially for the price!Interesting, Different & Accomodating

First and foremost, Carlos was very responsive when we had to change our tour due to our flight. Carlos made the change very easy. In regards to the tour itself, it was well worth the time and money it to see the "hot spots" of the La Marias area. In fact, we ended up visiting several places later in the week. We would recommend booking this type of tour in the beginning of your trip to the great city of Paris.Knowledgeable and friendly.

We love food tours and try to take one whenever possible, but this one was different. Usually, you get a large group, lots of local info, and a few tastes from markets or restaurants. This time, it was just us with Carlos. Before venturing to the oldest continual covered market in Paris, Carlos asked us what we could eat and what what we liked, so that he could design our tour for what worked for us. Once in the market, he purchased generous quantities of a variety of foods—so much that we could not finish them. All were designed to showcase regions of France. In the market we had wine (of our choice) to accompany, then we visited a small wine shop for more, joining locals who were stopping by for a glass or two as well. The afternoon concluded with sweets at local bakeries. We enjoyed the food choices but most enjoyed our conversation with Carlos, who is a professional composer and performer. He was very friendly and welcomed our questions, freely sharing information about his life in Paris. That evening, I realized I had lost my prescription sunglasses. I was thrilled when Carlos contacted me and arranged a convenience meeting place for return. We really enjoyed our afternoon; Carlos is a considerate, informed, and welcoming guide. We had a great time and would take such a tour again. Afternoon delight

Carlos was a fantastic and fun guide in Montmartre. We started with wine and escargots from the cafe in the Amelie movie. We had escargot twice more in the next few but it was way better here in Montmartre. We then had 2 kinds of quiche, oysters, kouign amann (like a sweet croissant) and beignets, 3 blocks of different cheeses with Roquefort and rye bread, madeleines with coffee, and macarons. We had so much cheese and not enough time to eat the next few days that we took the rest home. We saw the famous Moulin de la Galette and peeked through the window to see Renoir's painting of the restaurant, walked along the iconic streets and ended with the view of Paris at the Sacre Coeur. Carlos was also very patient as we shopped for foie gras, a handcarry and raincoats. It was not my first time in Paris but it was the first time in Montmartre. I'm glad I saw this area through this tour. Highly recommend! Awesome Montmartre Food Tasting Tour

My son and enjoyed our two hour tour with Carlos. Carlos has a relaxed and easy going manner and the pace is very easy. He is knowledgeable about the areas and the history and will answer questions you may have. Unfortunately I feel that the advertised price per person is misleading and it was not made clear at the point of booking and payment that the cost is €60 (cost for a group of 4) even if you are booking for 2 people. Because of this I did not feel it was good value @ €30 each for a 2 hour walking tour.

I have stayed in Paris many times and have always enjoyed myself. 2 years ago it was a food, coffee and indulgence tour of St Germaine de Pres. This visit, 2 of us met Carlos on time and had fantastic 2 hours wandering through and between some of the remaining arcades/passages de Paris. The tour was a gentle stroll, matched by Carlos’ gentle manner and very good knowledge. Plenty of time for photos and chatting, the arcades were truly interesting: high end shops and eateries, venues for locals, historical bookshops and hotels, intriguing architecture and design. The tour went very quickly, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a break from Paris’ big ticket items. A gentle revelation

Carlos was simply amazing. From the pastries to the oysters, cheese, espresso and crepes Carlos knew so much about the Parisian culinary lifestyle and quite a bit about the history of the landmarks and locations we visited. And to top it off he took us to a hidden passage way that led to the most amazing purse boutique. Not only does Carlos know about food but quality bags as well. A jack of all trades! I highly recommend this experience...it was amazing!Amazing Experience
