The four of us really enjoyed our time with Patricia and Rui. They were interesting and knowledgeable on many subjects. It was lovely to spend time in their home to see how they lived. Patricia had prepared a delicious Portuguese meal for us. She explained how her main dish was prepared so that it could be duplicated at home. We then were able to participate by preparing the dessert. The time flew by. Not To Be Missed

I went by myself for a pasteis de nata workshop at Patrica and Rui's house. We made the custard and used shop bought puff pastry for the cases. I was a bit disappointed we didn't make our own pastry, though I understand it's very time consuming so probably a bit difficult for a 3 hour workshop. It was really nice to be in a Portuguese family's house and Patricia and her family were very welcoming. She was great at catering to my vegetarian diet and she gave me lots of port and vinho verde which was delicious! I really enjoyed chatting to Patricia and her family and practicing my Portuguese, and the pasteis were delicious and kept me fueled on the Caminho which I started the next day!A very Portuguese evening!

Patricia and her family (son and husband) welcomed us with open arms. We booked last minute and Patricia was so flexible to make it work. Upon arrival we were greeted with drinks and snacks. The evening continued into making the dessert and eating a delicious Seafood soup. Patricia continued to offer other options and ensure we were happy (even offering a break her father made for her). Patricia, her husband and son were super open and welcoming into their home, exactly as advertised and great communication before we arrived, making this a stressfree experience. Amazing fresh food, the best Pasteis de nata(custard tarts) we tasted in Porto with an easy but delicious recipe and a secret ingredient 😉. The hospitality of Patricia and her family is top notch. We really enjoyed getting to know them personally as we shared perspectives and got a little piece of home style Portuguese culture. Patricia welcomed us into her home. We were greeted at the door by her husband and he immediately offered us a drink and charcuterie. We then began making the pastry. Patricia was patient and informative throughout the lesson process. We were served a traditional lunch. During lunch we learned about porto culture. At the end we ate our pastel de natas. After a nearly three week trip to Portugal, this was by far one of our most outstanding experiences during our remaining few days. We enjoyed having conversation with a local family as we learn the intricacies of making a popular Portuguese dessert. It was educational to learn of the experiences of a family living day- to-day in this country. This is an experience tourists do not typically receive by simply visiting historical sites, shopping, museums, and churches. It was wonderful to spend an evening in a family's home having dinner and enjoying good conversation with new friends. Thank you, Patricia and family.A wonderful family dinner!

I always take a cooking class when I travel to a new country. And it’s usually the highlight of my vacation. This was no exception. While learning how to make pastéis de nata, I learned so much about life in Portugal. School, sports, politics, chicken…etc… We discussed it all. We were late because our flight was delayed and Patricia was kind enough to wait on us, come down to meet us and escort us up to her apartment. Dinner was already cooked and absolutely delicious (Toast with excellent goats cheese and a local ham followed by roast lamb, rice, sauteed tomatoes and finally cream pastries and homemade pork). My gf and I absolutely loved our night with Patricia and her husband. We had so much fun learning the authentic recipe for Pastel De Nata. The experience did not stop at baking, we had a full course meal and some excellent wine/drinks prepared by Patricia. You could tell her and her husband love what they do and really put in the effort to give their guests an authentic and genuine experience. They gave us travel advice, taught us some history and just in general some topics about the country. This is a memory we will cherish forever and would recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic Portuguese dinner and baking experience. We had a really nice time with Patricia and her husband. When we arrived, starters had been laid out on the table and shortly after we started making the pastel de nata’s. While they were in the oven, we had a delicious lunch (in this case it was slow cooked Turkey and rice) but this changes everyday. The company was excellent - would highly recommend!Memorable day

We have done cooking classes in 3 different countries. Each one has been very different but all 3 have allowed us to meet locals and have wonderful conversations with new friends. On the day of the class, we received instructions on where to go and how to get into the building. All very clear. Because traffic was terrible (it was raining) we arrived 1/2 an hour late but our host was gracious and didn't let it bother her (thank goodness!). Our host had prepared a charcuterie board and drinks typical of Portuguese dining while we all got to know each other (there were 8 of us from 4 countries). Then we began making Nata. She was knowledgeable on ingredients and explained how we can cook them in our own homes-we all left with the recipe in hand. It is a simple recipe but having Patricia there to talk us through it and how we can apply the recipe to our own homes was exactly what we needed. While the nata cooked in the oven, we ate a lovely dinner prepared by Patricia. After our meal, we ate the nata! It was a fun evening and the company was just what we were hoping for! Patricia and Rui were wonderful hosts that went above and beyond. I booked this experience for my family to experience a home cooked Portuguese meal - only to find out I misremembered the date and missed our dinner! I called Patricia and she was so kind and flexible with us, offering to have us for brunch on our very last day in Porto where she had an available opening, even though she had previously cooked the whole meal even though we missed the dinner. We were able to go and we were so grateful - as the experience was so lovely. She shared her easy and delicious pasteis de nata recipe and we had an incredible feast of local dishes. It is truly a full experience to go to Portugal and actually get to share a meal with locals who will tell you all about their lives, and it is incredible to share in the similarities and differences of our cultures and stories. Patricia has the gift of hospitality as she welcomed us into her home. She gave us detailed directions which led us directly there. Our hotel was a 15 minute taxi ride there but for our ride back she helped us to use Uber, which was much cheaper! And, as for the dinner? Everything was delicious and she let me help somewhat. Cheeses, meats, breads, a refreshing cocktail all before the main course which was soup prepared with local fresh vegetables, black pasta with salmon and shrimp tossed with an exceptional sauce. Mmmm! And, of course, a superb red wine to go with our meal! Our dessert was the traditional Portuguese Pasteis De Nata, which she let me crack the eggs, separate the yolks from the whites and stir in the rest of the ingredients. She sent us home with the recipe. What a delightful evening we had with Patrica, her husband and son!A delightfully delicious experience!

We went to the meeting point (the apartment of Patricia) with the taxi. Taxi's are cheap in Porto. The table was set and we had some nice appetizers and a drink (white port with tonic, was good!). Then we started preparing the Pasteis. The recipe is easy to duplicate at home. Patricia made a really good curry for diner. We had a nice conversation together. And the Pasteis were the desert. It was great! We made ten Pasteis and the remaining Pasteis were our souvenir tot taken home with us A delicious and very nice evening

The evening was surprisingly relaxed within 2 minutes. We were welcomed into their home and immediately felt comfortable.
