My wife and I had a truly lovely night out with Luis on a casual foodie tour of some of his favorite locals-only-would-know places. He is a thoroughly enjoyable guide and clearly loves his hometown. We rambled all over Old Porto, stopping at three places wheee he knew the owners and just what to order. It was all delicious. We had asked for a tour like this — informal and deeply local, prioritizing the kind of places we visitors would not have known to stop in. At one bar where we had great crusty sandwiches and a special Douro sparkling wine served from a tap in beer glasses, I also asked for a bottle of water and the owner promptly rang the “bell of shame.” All in good fun and we recommend this tour with Luis enthusiastically!Wonderful Evening with Luis in Porto!

It was a pleasure to spend time with Luis. Luis was welcoming and very friendly. He read our style and requirements perfectly. First off, the 2-star review that was given by another reviewer is very misleading. We did this tour with Luis and it was so much more than a food tour. It was a true insight and and peek into the life and culture of Porto. Luis really knows the history of his city and is so proud to show it off. We saw so much in 3 hours that we would not have possibly discovered unless shown by a local. It was truly a highlight of our 5-day stay in Porto. Plus we got to try some lovely food, wine and liquors and received many more recommendations of where to eat and drink during the rest of our stay. Don't hesitate to book this tour. We have used with locals many times for food tours and have always enjoyed them. However on this occasion whilst Luis was a very pleasant person with some interesting facts and information , we really had very little in the way of a food experience. A prosciutto sandwich, 2 types of tapas and a pork sandwich. We really felt underwhelmed by the small amount of food and narrow variety we tasted - not even a fransecinha ,Pastéis de Nata, octopus, salted cod etc which we discovered for ourselves. We only had one drink, one sandwich and the tapas included in the price (we were aware we had to pay for the rest but it is not the usual with locals way) so didn’t feel like value for money. Luis did explain about the fransecinha and where to buy them and gave some ideas of areas to visit but definitely overall a disappointing tour.A Food tour with vwry little food

Luis took us with for a great walk through 3 fantastic nice places where we got history and tasted good food and drinks/wine from locals bars/restaurants We was 19 from Norway and we all loved it . He know so much about his city and history that this trip was highlight of our 5 days stay in Porto. Everything was great and we all got alittle tipsy 😄 worth every penny . We spent a great afternoon with Luis as he showed us little local places we wouldn't have known about otherwise. He bypassed popular tourist locations and took us to places locals go. His English as well as his knowledge about Porto is superb. He customized the tour for us. This is the second tour I've had with Luis. The first one happened after the airline lost our luggage so we were late. He adjusted the time and the places we went (totally different than where we went this time) so we had a great tour then, also.Great food we wouldnt have found otherwise

Our group of 6 had the pleasure of meeting up with Luis while we visited Porto. I think I can speak for all of us in our group in saying we had a blast with Luis. He met us outside of our hotel and we then did a walking tour of the surrounding area and then explored some different establishments and we had a wonderful time. We had great food, drinks and company, it was nice spending time with a local to get an "insiders perspective" of the city. Luis was fabulous. He took us to 3 great little local eateries that we would never have contemplated stopping at ourselves. The food was authentic and tasted great. The best part of the evening was the informative conversations we had. Luis is passionate about his town and loves to share his experiences with visitors. It was particularly pleasing to finish the evening at a great craft beer beergarden that you would have no hope of finding without a local. Luis is a perfect host , he make his tour personal to you and has a vast amount of local knowledge . Luis took us round many of the small eating places to taste Portos delightful dishes , these are places that as a tourist we would not have necessarily found by ourselves. We found Luis and the people of Porto to be very friendly and willing to share their love of the City with strangers. Luis listened to each comment we made to him in the first moments of our tour and took us on an amazing tour. He found out we love beer and showed us the most amazing places to drink the up and coming beers of Portugal complete with meeting brewers who just happened to be available to chat. Having booked this foodie tour for a friend’s birthday present, I could not have wished for a better experience - the food, wine and company were all superb! If I’m honest, my friend and I were a little nervous as we set off to meet Luis, having never spent 3 hours on a food tour with a stranger before. We needn’t have worried; Luis was a wonderfully warm, informative & hilarious host whose passion for local food & wine was infectious! After a short time in his company he felt like an old friend. Through the course of the evening Luis took us to 3 wonderful venues - all of which we would never have discovered without him. Wherever we ate he chatted to the owner to get food & wine recommendations and everything that was put in front of us was delicious. Personally I will never forget a goat cheese that we ate & a white port that we sampled. I would wholeheartedly recommend this pesticos food tour to anyone who enjoys good food, great wine and an evening of laughter & putting the world to rights. Something came up and Luis wasn’t able to give our tour. It seemed like we were going to be left disappointed but instead of cancelling, Luis set us up with Fernando who carried out our tour. Throughout the rearranging, Luis was in constant contact and even though he wasn’t in the city when we went on our tour he was still in touch to make sure everything was ok. When it came to the tour with Fernando it completely exceeded our expectations. Fernando was a delight to spend time with and is a really interesting guy in his own right. The tour was tailored for us based on what we liked and Fernando arranged for us to finish off with the best ice cream in Porto, which my daughter loved. Fernando told us that it was the first of many food tours that he had given were there was a child (aged 10) in the party but you wouldn’t have known, he was very attentive to our daughter and whatever she wanted. This was a food tour but we were also interested in some of the beautiful architecture of the city and so Fernando took time to make sure we walked in certain streets to see some interesting buildings. As for the food, everything was local and traditional, everything was fantastic and everything was reasonably priced. We could not have been looked after any better and we would highly recommend this tour with Luis/FernandoAwesome local food tour

Our food tour with Luis was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! We had an amazing evening living the life of a local. He customized the tour based on our needs and took us to places you wouldn't know unless you lived there and the food was amazing!!! Going on such a tour at the beginning of a trip is a good idea if you want ideas on what to eat the few days you are in Porto. This tour with Luis did not disappoint. The food that Luis introduced us to was so good that the we ended up returning to the establishments a second time. Not only was Luis such a passionate host, keen to share with us what and where the locals would eat, I was pleasantly surprised that I could connect on a personal level with similar interests in music and craft beer. Although we had booked our tour with Luis, he wasn’t available. Luis had been recommended to me by a friend who had worked with Luis in the past - so we were initially disappointed with the substitution. However, our substitute Fernando was terrific. Fernando took his for famous bifanas and local beer, followed up by a walking tour of the centre are and two more stops for local specialties. Everyone had a great time and Fernando spent a few extra hours with us at a local pub. He also offered to arrange some further touring a few days later however we were unable to take advantage of his offer. We had a great time and would highly recommend Fernando. Review

Luis' food tour was the highlight of our Porto trip We met Luis near the town hall in the evening and while walking the streets with him we learned a lot about Porto, the buildings, the history, the streets and the people. He is a very nice, friendly and communicative person, very easy going, and after a short while he felt like a friend. We visited three different places to try typical Portuguese food and drinks and we loved every single dish ("Queijo de Cabra com Presunto" was my favourite!). What a great and tasty experience! The tour with Luìs was our highlight in Porto ! We meet close to our flat and from there Luìs showed us everything there is to see in Porto. He did show us places locals actually go to. We visited great bars and restaurant we would have just walked by without noticing and we would have missed out big time. He also gave good advise on shopping. From the first moment it felt like we were meeting an old friend. We had such a great night out with amazing food and lots of good wine, great conversation and laughed a lot. From the moment Luis arrived at our hotel my husband and I felt like we were with an old friend. Luis took us to all his favorite spots not the typical haunts that tourists frequent but the places only the locals would know. We made new friends and learned about the history of Porto in ways we could have never done on our own. Luis is personable and his friends are amazing! From his friend the chef who cooked us the best meal we ate in Porto to his buddies at the brewery who treated us as if we’ve known them a lifetime. Luis gave our group of 4 a great tour of Porto! We went on this tour on our first day in town and he gave us a great introduction to the city and favorite foods. As he said, this isn't a guidebook tour of the places the books tell you to go. More like visiting your friend's hometown and having them show you around. He took us to varied places and locations and helped refine our itinerary to get the most out of our stay. Excellent suggestions, especially loved 7Grams Roasters. Fabulous coffee!
