Me and an my girlfriend were really happy to experience this unique and personalized cooking class. I think it's absolutely worth if you want to have a private cooking class with Abuelita and Ariadna. You will be included in the cooking classes. You will be guided even if your Spanish is nonexistent. And you will have amazing talks about the local culture. My wife and I went with our adult son and we had a great afternoon with Ariadna and here grandmother (Abuela). We really enjoyed helping Abuela make gazpacho and paella, but the really special part was being welcomed into their home and treated like family. My son speaks Spanish and therefore was able to forge a special bond with Abuela. My wife also has food allergies and they catered the menu around them. It was a memorable experience which we highly to anyone visiting Madrid. Fabulous experience

We had a wonderful time with Ari and Abuela. We learned to make Seafood Paella and Spanish Omelet/Tortilla. The interactions were fun and the food was incredible and plentiful! Abuela was very patient with our many questions and Ari was very patient translating them. Ari also gave us some great pointers for our next activity of the day. We would not recommend this experience more. Antonia and Ariadna welcomed us into their (pristine) home. Ariadna spoke perfect English and translated our many questions for Abuela. The produce was so fresh and the food was something out of our dreams. We made Seafood Paella and Spanish Tortilla we would highly recommend. So grateful to have this experience. AMAZING!! After booking the lesson, Ariadna reached out to me giving me several options for lunch; I chose the traditional Spanish Tortilla and gazpacho. I was greeted with a warm welcome and made me feel like family. Both Ariadna and Antonia are very sweet. I especially enjoyed my time since I Spanish. But if you don’t speak Spanish, don’t worry because Ariadna is fluent in English! The food was delicious and their company was the icing on the cake! I scheduled a cooking class for my birthday and received more than I expected. First of all Ariadna (Ari) was very easy to communicate with and she responded very quickly to my messages. Coming from Los Angeles I wanted to learn how to prepare authentic Spanish dishes and abuela (grandmother) Antonia did just that. We had a food allergy and she accommodated for us. The class was very interactive where I participated at my level of comfort. I was the only non Spanish speaking but Ari made sure that I was included with her rapid translations and I was involved in the fun conversations. I am going home with the confidence that I can prepare a Paella and traditional Spanish omelet for my friends as a souvenir. I highly recommend this class for its fun and informative level. Ariadna and Antonia were the best! They welcomed us into their homes and were super kind. They were super accommodating even when we booked our visit very last minute. It was 100% customizable to what we wanted to learn. For us, we chose to learn how to make the seafood paella. They let us help with the cooking and explained every step to us. Even gave us a brief history lesson on the origins of paella! Learning to cook with una abuelita y su nieta was a very special experience. To see the family interaction as Ari would help her grandmother and as she explained in detail the cooking process was an extremely special experience here in Madrid. We learned to cook paella and the Spanish tortilla. We were taught the old way of cooking with todays pans and it was surprisingly simple. We had an eleven year old with us and she was included in the process which made the day very special. Cooking with abuelita (grandma) was warm and cozy, and sharing our meal with the hostess was the icing on the cake… learning more of their family and history in Spain made us feel like we were with our family. Ari and her grandmother’s interactions were sweet and real… this is a true Spainsh experience you can’t find anywhere. Ari and her grandmother warmly welcomed us into Abuela’s home. On the menu: seafood paella and Spanish omelette. Abuela is a pro in the kitchen and my friend and I helped with the prep so this is a hands-on class, an aspect we thoroughly enjoyed. Though Abuela spoke little English, and my friend and I don’t speak Spanish, Ari is a wonderful translator. The paella was the best we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to make both dishes at home. I signed a friend and myself up for this cooking class as it was both a private cooking session and took place in a private home with an Abuela. What a great choice this turned out to be! Ari helped translate and displayed excellent English. My friend and I felt immediately comfortable with both Ari and her grandmother. After reading the past reviews in order to get an idea of what foods were possible to tackle in the class, my friend and I requested to make gazpacho, a Spanish tortilla (omelette) and garlic shrimp (gambas). It was quickly apparent that Abuela had made these items millions of times before. For example, she knew exactly how many tomatoes would be required to fill the bowl with gazpacho. The same with the potatoes for the tortilla. Even though Abuela’s English was limited, we had no difficulty learning from her first demonstrating and then us giving each step a try. Ari also helped with her fun commentary. After cooking the food, we all sat down together to enjoy a fabulous meal! Abuela said the key was to use simple recipes with quality fresh ingredients. We took lots of photos and found Ari and her Abuela to be both gracious and charming hosts! This experience turned out to be a highlight of our trip. I strongly encourage you to explore this opportunity to meet actual Spanish people in their own home. This was way more meaningful than simply seeing a building or a statue!!!Meaningful and Oh So Fun

I cannot say enough about how enjoyable our time with Ariadna and her Abuela was. We made Spanish Tortilla and Seafood Paella. Everything was well organized and planned out. We learned how to clean squid and how to make the broth for the paella as well as many other tips and tricks. We helped with the prep and received information on both paella and Spanish tortilla, regional differences, etc. We finished off the experience by sitting down and having lunch while having an enjoyable conversation with Ariadna and Abuela. We had SUCH a lovely experience with Ari & Abuela. Abuela was adorable and the relationship with Ari is super sweet. Abuela kindly opens her home to teach you how it's done. Our 3 teen girls talked about this experience all throughout our trip and especially enjoyed looking at all her old vinyl's. We're definitely going to give the recipes a go with a Spanish themed night back in the states. Make sure to take photos and notes to remember ingredients and the steps to cooking. Watch out! We immediately felt at ease. Both Antonia and Ariadna were friendly, talkative, full of knowledge and we shared so many experiences. By the time we got to eating, it felt like eating with family. We were in Madrid as a family to celebrate a birthday and they even fetched a candle for the birthday boy to blow. I'm not even gonna comment on the food that was exquisite, that's how it works with grandmas, they just know how to do it. We had a wonderful time with Ariadne and her amazing grandma Antonia. When we reached the meeting place Ari was already waiting outside the building. The apartment was so beautiful and clean and the kitchen was spotless. It was a pleasure to cook in it, and Ari did all the translation. We made three dishes but the ingredients were simple and steps easy to follow. We just used olive oil salt and garlic and some vinegar but the dishes were delicious, especially as we Indians use a lot of spices. After, we ate lunch together and despite the language barrier had a lively conversation.. I would definitely recommend this duo to anyone who wants to learn home style Spanish cooking. Mrs. Antonia was the sweetest and cutest host. She obviously knows what she is doing in the kitchen. Her granddaughter Ari was the interpreter/host. My son gave me this gift, as we both love to cook. To be cooking with Antonia and Ari was a joy. I really appreciated seeing how locals make paella, which is much more relaxed than the methods that I have found in cookbooks and much more practical (eg. not needing expensive paella rice!). Both Antonia and Ari are delightful, with fun stories. This was the highlight of my trip, which had many amazing experiences!
