If we could rate this higher than 10 we would. We didn’t really know what to expect when we booked this tour with Luis but we knew we like beer and have done a fair amount of brewery tours over the years. This was nothing like anything we have done before! Luis and Antonio were a lot of fun and gave us a really personal experience of the work they do and the life of the brewery. We had a great time and would 100% book another experience with Luis next time we are in Porto. The beer was fantastic too! Some of the best imperial stouts we have had.Truly Unique Experience

We combined the food tour and the farm brewery. This turned out to be a great, child-friendly idea for our 2 & a half-year-old daughter to be able to get to know the taste of Porto on a personal level. Luis, a real 'Tripeiro, loves his Porto and knows it like his back pocket. We casually strolled through the urban and culinary history of the city while getting to know interesting details, fun facts, and legends. I bet you have never heard about "the little dirty". The food tour is like a Saturday afternoon where the Portugese kid get a yes to every craving on the way. At the brewery, as Belgians, we were surprised by the quality of the LUPUM beers. Antonio, the brewer, radiates passion, which you can taste in his beers. "Brewing. Provoking. Drinking. We had a wonderful trip to the farm. Luis was very friendly and accommodating. Beer was delicious and the brewer was welcoming. We had a great afternoon with this tour! We booked this tour after our questions were quickly answered by Luis, the local. We were picked up and had lunch (not included within the tour) together with the brewer and other employee, great guys! Then we drove to the brewery, had a tour and tasted some beers, which were very good! Our 2,5 year old son also enjoyed walking around the farm and spotting the animals! We chatted and had a great time! Definitely recommend, especially if you like craft beers!Amazing tour!

Luis rocked! He drove my friend and me to the farm brewery where we enjoyed a tour with the brewmaster, To, learned about the beer process, and sampled some of Portugal's best craft beers. The vibe was chill and friendly! Being in nature - off the beaten path was amazing too! Luis then took us for some delicious local broa which we had sliced so we could enjoy it on the beach for sunset. The chapel on the beach was just lovely as were the crashing waves as the sun set. I asked Luis if he could take the Brewery Tour and customise it so I could spend more time with the brewer and Luis was more than happy to accommodate me. He arranged for a later visit in the evening and I had a great time chatting to the brewer, tasting his beers and being told about his methods. Afterwards Luis, the brewer and I all went out for food and beers and Luis introduced me to a great craft beer bar. It's not all inclusive, so take some extra money but the extras were definitely worth it and we had a really nice meal. This was everything I like about a WithLocals tour. TL;DR These guys are fun, great to hang out with and drink beer! You should do it. An awesome day in Porto! We were doing a river cruise with my parents, and Luis was nice enough to pick us up at the boat, saving us a long cab ride and a lot of hassle. We had a great lunch together with the brewmaster, Tau, his new girlfriend, and business partner, Luis. It was full of interesting conversation and laughter. I think that is one of the best things about events arranged through withlocals.com; not only do you do some activity together, but you really get to know the people. This creates memories that will last a lifetime. For lunch, Luis and Tau recommended the pig knuckles, and they were absolutely delicious! After lunch, the chef came over and we had a liquor prepared in-house with honey and cinnamon, it was really good. We then went to Tau's farm where he makes the beer and had a beer tasting. The farm was really peaceful with goats and horses wandering about. Tau said he wanted to start a taproom and host BBQ events there (When he does this, it might be a good reason to go back to Portugal all by itself). He was brewing a Session IPA, an American-style IPA (both that weren't quite ready yet), a strong Belgian Ale (my favorite), and an Imperial Stout with Cocoa and Coffee. The beer was all really fresh and absolutely delicious. And don't think you'll go there and get a high-pressure sales pitch to buy beer. As a small producer, most of his beer is already spoken for. I think the main reason he does these events is to share his passion for beermaking as well as meeting other people.A memorable day in Porto

My wife and I had a truly lovely night out with Luis on a casual foodie tour of some of his favorite locals-only-would-know places. He is a thoroughly enjoyable guide and clearly loves his hometown. We rambled all over Old Porto, stopping at three places wheee he knew the owners and just what to order. It was all delicious. We had asked for a tour like this — informal and deeply local, prioritizing the kind of places we visitors would not have known to stop in. At one bar where we had great crusty sandwiches and a special Douro sparkling wine served from a tap in beer glasses, I also asked for a bottle of water and the owner promptly rang the “bell of shame.” All in good fun and we recommend this tour with Luis enthusiastically!Wonderful Evening with Luis in Porto!

First off, the 2-star review that was given by another reviewer is very misleading. We did this tour with Luis and it was so much more than a food tour. It was a true insight and and peek into the life and culture of Porto. Luis really knows the history of his city and is so proud to show it off. We saw so much in 3 hours that we would not have possibly discovered unless shown by a local. It was truly a highlight of our 5-day stay in Porto. We have used with locals many times for food tours and have always enjoyed them. However on this occasion whilst Luis was a very pleasant person with some interesting facts and information , we really had very little in the way of a food experience. A prosciutto sandwich, 2 types of tapas and a pork sandwich. We really felt underwhelmed by the small amount of food and narrow variety we tasted - not even a fransecinha ,Pastéis de Nata, octopus, salted cod etc which we discovered for ourselves. We only had one drink, one sandwich and the tapas included in the price (we were aware we had to pay for the rest but it is not the usual with locals way) so didn’t feel like value for money. Luis did explain about the fransecinha and where to buy them and gave some ideas of areas to visit but definitely overall a disappointing tour.A Food tour with vwry little food

We had an absolute blast with Luis. He took us to the Douro valley and didn't mind to adjust our tour so that we could start a little later in the morning than usually. Also while being on the trip he made sure we have a good trip by keeping us hydrated and laughing. When we proposed to him that we'd rather wanted to see his microbrewery than taking the boat trip, he quickly managed everything for us so that we could spend the rest of the afternoon tasting beers, followed by an excellent sundowner on one of the nicest rooftops bars of Porto!
