We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Matteo. We did a fair bit of hill climbing but it was all so worth it for the incredible view of the city from up high and rewarded ourselves with incredible gelato on the way back down! Matteo was awesome with my 6-year-old. It was one of the highlights of our trip. I initially expected just a few cool photos, which we got, but we also had an absolutely delightful time. Our family took a tour with Matteo, through the streets of Trastevere. Starting on a Sunday afternoon, with music and art at Piazza Trilussa. We moved back to quiet corners, home kitchens, everyday life in the streets, before moving along into path of locals and tourists, as they made their way into the area, to enjoy the night life. Matteo, showed us some beautiful spots, how to get the best out of the pictures we took. As well as using the settings to bring out the best. Sadly the sun did not want to play with us for the whole day, but in the moments it shone through we got some magnificent shots, and my teenage daughter has a collection of images of Rome to remember the trip by. We had a lovely time with Matteo, exploring charming Trastevere. Matteo was very engaging, interacting with all members of my family. Matteo knows this part of Rome quite well. He knew all the best street corners and architectural elements and how to photograph them. He was able to design the walk with emphasis to my interests - that being street photography. He is also very knowledgeable regarding technical details of photography and will give you useful insights to the extent you want them. Matteo is an easygoing friendly bloke whose love of Roma is evident. We strolled the streets of Trastevere, keeping an eye out for likely photographs, & chatting. He helped me to see what the leading lines might be in photos of buildings & together we looked out for light & shade. This was such a precious memory for us during our visit to Rome. The walk around the neighbourhood with Matteo was such an eye opener. We learnt so much from Matteo — from photography tips to the history of the place and the local life and food of the people. This day was honestly a highlight of our trip! Matteo was so thoughtful, and really let us jump into life as a local! We had amazing views, stopped and got some great local snacks and a pick me up coffee, and lively conversation all before even reaching Calcatta. Once we arrived, it was like going back in time and stepping into a local’s life there. No tourists or big gimmicks, just art, scenery, hidden restaurants and cats popping in and out of the alleys. The architecture is so cool, but definitely recommend wearing good shoes as you trek up those steps and dip into alleys. Gorgeous views are everywhere! The only reason I’m willing to spill the secret is because Matteo deserves the recommendation! 10/10Awesome time in Calcatta!
