We came to Madrid during rainy days and having such a great guide made our impression much nicer. Despite pouring rain, Eva showed us nicest sides, introduced to special traditional places and even made a stretch to lead us to the sports shops of interest to our son. We had a great time touring the City with Julian. To be able to see the city with a local is so much more in depth than what we could have experienced on our own. Madrid has so much history and charm. We had our three children (8,12,15) with us. It was too much history for the 8 year old, but Julian even ended us at a large park so she could play. Wow! Our first day in Madrid we spent touring the city with Patricia with our parents and our 3 kids. Before we met Patricia she was so kind to as the ages of our kids so that she could bring them a treat for after our tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Maria! My 9 year old daughter and I had a wonderful afternoon. Maria made sure to speak directly to my daughter, giving her special attention. She had her utilizing the Spanish she had learned in school. She adapted the tour to show us new and interesting sites since we had explored lots of the city the day before. Maria made the time to find a Gelato spot for my daughter and a sangria spot for myself. She even found a way for us to pop into the oldest restaurant in the world! Julian gave us a fantastic tour of the old city, sharing stories of its history that interested both the adults and young children in our party. He was flexible in switching up the order of the tour when our 4 year insisted on a snack at the beginning, and he was kind in answering questions from all members of the party. We are two adults and 3 children ages 5, 7, 9 years. We had just arrived that morning, full of energy from spending the night on the plane (read: sarcasm!). I pitied Elena for having the task of touring with our family and keeping up with our sleep-deprived children. She was amazing! She is warm and easy to talk to - the kids asked if she was a friend of mine. Haha. She also gently but firmly kept them in line while showing them the fun side of Madrid. We walked for a few hours and were treated to facts and history of Madrid, sprinkled in with rests focused around delicious snacks. One of the highlights of the trip for the kids! Elena is pure magic with children! Don’t get me wrong, she’s an incredible guide with adults as well, but she managed to hold the rapt attention of our twin nine year olds for six hours, which is no small feat. She knew just the right activities to encourage their participation and engaged with them in an intelligent, thoughtful, and energetic manner. As a former educator, I definitely have high standards when it comes to how adult educators interact with children, and Elena exceeded all those expectations. My daughters even took to running up to Elena to hold her hand as we were walking along the tour. She skillfully made the information engaging for both the adults and the children in the group and curated excellent tours for us that combined education and humor! I walked away grateful for her expert guidance and curated choices, feeling like I learned infinitely more about the city from our few hours together. We are so grateful to Patricia for making our tour of Madrid so, so, so special. She really went above and beyond to help make the day so special. She helped us reschedule to avoid having to do a walking tour with kids on a 100 + degree day. It made all the difference in the world. She was so great engaging all our kids (aged 5, 7, 8, 10 and 10). They all wanted to take photos with her at the end of the tour. We took the family-friendly intro to Madid tour and it couldn't have been better. We have 9 and 6 year old kids and they were exhausted after spending 3 hours in a museum immediately prior to the tour. Julian was extremely patient and understanding, and found ways to keep them engaged. It's not easy to provide an experience that is valuable for both children and adults, but Julian succeeded. I would absolutely book this or any of Julian's other tours again. Awesome Time with Julian

This was our first WithLocals tour ever and we absolutely loved Julian! Our flight was delayed so we had to move our time and Julian was so kind and accommodating - he even met us at the hotel to make it easier on us! My hubby and I had our 10 year old son with us and the city tour was great for all 3 of us. Julian kept our son engaged and pointed out fun things for him (and us!).
