Alessandro's knowledge of Barcelona's history (and of that of the Mediterranean) spans mediaeval through to present day. He expanded in more detail when asked about particular issues. We walked around the city and he described the past and current function of a variety of places and buildings. Where past infrastructure has been lost, he would describe where it had been, eg the Roman wall. Look 1.5hrs is just not enough. If you are considering a booking, try for a longer tour. A great guide, can't recommend him enough.In the depths of history

We took this tour as a family of five (three children ages 14,12 and 10) Alessandro was very patient and worked hard to keep the kids engaged as we went along. Our son is very interested in history and found the tour particularly interesting. The focus was on the history and influences that have shaped the old town of Barcelona. However, Alessandro was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions on many different topics connected with the city. We arranged a tour with Alessandro for our first morning in Barcelona, to get a feel for the city and understand its layout. We got so much more! Alessandro was the best choice for a tour guide. We were overwhelmed in planning a trip to Barcelona: the city is very large and has a lot to offer visitors. We gave Alessandro some parameters: we had young children, and we enjoy art history, architecture, and food. He easily weaved these elements into our tour together. The pace was manageable— not at all too fast— we even stopped for some open-market shopping and other curiosities. He took us for food tastings that made our sons’ tastebuds and imaginations explode. He listened to our interests and was able to pivot and accommodate along the way. Alessandro is charming, kind, and a gentleman. He is highly, thoroughly knowledgeable and loves what he does. His English is excellent; he speaks multiple languages. He brought the history of Barcelona to life with stories and some photos. Truly Alessandro was our best decision for an introduction to this fine city. Our sons (9&11yrs,) both said he was a gem and they were so happy we did the tour. Doing a private tour costs more, yes, but you will find that having a tailored experience will be worth the expense. Exceptional, delightful, and interesting

Ionia was wonderful! She planned interesting stops & experiences. We started with desert saying why wait till after a meal when already full. Rich warn chocolate drink & pastries. We then started walking exploring the Old Town area. Next stop, Farmers market for Cheese & sausages! Ionia gave us history of the different districts as we made our way to dinner where we tried local foods & a drink. During dinner she asked questions about our likes and my husband being a music lover ask her if she knew of The Jamboree Jazz Club. She was excited to hear we knew of this place & said she would take us there next so off we went. She actually looked up if there was a show that evening & there was. We stopped at restaurant in the square and got a glass of Cava and then checked out the club. She was able to help us get tickets and into the club we went. The show was amazing, as was Ionia .
