Experience hosted by Begoña
The Royal Palace and the Gardens of La Granja of San Ildefonso is a 18th century paradise, located at the banks of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
Philip V, the first Bourbon king of Spain in 1700, built the summer residence of the court beside the mountains to have barroque and French style gardens like Marly and Versailles where he grew up, as his grandfather was Louis XIV, the Sun king. These gardens have 146 ha, 26 monumental fountains which water jets run naturally thanks to the downhill slope from the mountains and gravity with a pipeline of 15 km, where 92% are still original, made of casting iron.
The palace houses 2 museums, the private rooms of the Royal Palace, set and decorated according Philip V and Isabel of Farnese in the 18th century and the flamish 16th century tapestry museum, all managed by Patrimonio Nacional.

Hola, I am Begoña, an official tour guide in Segovia city and region.
I was born and grew up a few streets away from the Roman Aqueduct... so since I am a child, i am passionate about Segovia: its history, art, monuments, traditions and gastronomy... And I try to share my knowledge and passion to everyone want to visit my city.
The most popular visit is the World Heritage city (with its three jewels - Aqueduct, Cathedral and Alcazar) and be amazed about its richness. but if you like green areas, Segovia has 2 valleys which can be visited and enjoy the great views of the old city from outskirts...
