Our food tour with Georgia was a true highlight in our overall beautiful vacation in Athens. We had a long layover in Athens and decided to explore the city. Georgia agreed to start our tour earlier (Saturday morning). However, some food joints, especially meat places, were closed at those early hours. It wasn’t Georgia’s fault, but it was a slight disappointment. de 10 proeverijen waren helaas niet verspreidt over 10 locaties. op 1 locatie kregen we al 4 gerechten. De grote wandeling waar we op gehoopt hadden werd een kleine wandeling. Daarnaast was het erg jammer dat er gevaped werd door de gids, ook tijdens het eten. Iets wat in Nederland echt niet kan of je vraagt of iemand bezwaar heeft dat er fevaped wordt. Tegenvaller dus

Vasiliki has great energy and it is evident her venders appreciate her. She gave us a wide variety of tastes - olives, honey, nuts, meat & cheese, slouvaki and a deliciously sweet doughnut/ice cream dessert. We had our 9 year old with us and Vasiliki engaged with her tremendously. She was very informational about the city of Athens and gave suggestions for areas to wander for our remaining days. We highly recommend Vasiliki, she was hands down our favorite food tour guide we have ever had (we’ve done several food tours lately in Italy & Portugal). Lovely!

Although Georgia was extremely knowledgeable and showed us some great places in Athens, we did not got the food tour experience described in the tour we signed up for. She forgot her wallet and money at home so she made the best of what she could for the tour BUT we did not get what we paid for. We should have had 10 tastings of Athens with food and drink, we had 2 food tastings, 1 drink, a shared pretzel and a shared dessert amongst the 6 of us! It was an unfortunate situation so I am hopeful WithLocals will refund some of the $ we paid for this.Not what we expected

We had a great night. He was kind enough to Taylor or evening to show us the sites in Athens and an overview of the city so that we knew where to go afterwards. And the food was spectacular. We’re still talking about it. We actually went back to the ice cream place that he took us to the next night and on our last night went to the lounge where we had cocktails and enjoyed the view. Manos was overall very knowledgeable about mythology, history and Athens. He engaged well with each of our group. We had a tailored tour that lasted all day, which in hindsight was a bit long for us. A few more stops in the afternoon would have been good to break up some of the walking. We met Georgia in front of a busy, centrally located hotel. We found each other easily. She was right on time and off we went. She was outgoing, supremely knowledgeable, and spoke flawless English. With eight years of experience conducting this tour she was filled with knowledge that only a local would know. She had already arranged tastings at about a half dozen small locations of local foods and drinks. At each location she and we were warmly greeted and quickly treated to one tasty treat after another. The cost of the food was included in the price of the tour. As we walked from one location to the other, Georgia described the neighborhoods, their distinct histories, and significance to the city. She was clearly a local who was recognized and greeted by residents wherever we walked. We finished the tour having been treated not only to a tasty array of Greek dishes but to wonderful of out-of-the-ordinary locales we could never have discovered on our own! One of the best tours I have ever had from one of the most interesting and knowledgeable people I have ever met. Georgia was awesome!

We met Dionysis at @ 12:30 and spent 3 pleasant hours walking, talking and eating our way around Athens. Dionysis was attentive to our likes and dislikes and ordered our tastes accordingly. We walked through the meat and fish markets the had wonderful calamari, anchovies, meatballs, veggies both fried and fresh with a spiced cheese spread and some coffee. Next we went to another spot for sausage, gyros and fries. Then went to another bakery for the best spanikopita ever with handmade phyllo dough. We also some succulent pork skewers and ended our food tour with fresh, hot doughnuts. Our only complaint and it is minor - Dionysis is a smoker and my husband hates the smell. I thought he was very discreet with his smoking, but it was the only negative. Dionysis has a great personality and was very easy to talk with.Great walk with wonderful food

Georgia is amazing! I had the opportunity to visit Athens 5 years ago and do a food tour with Georgia. This was an absolutely wonderful experience! Ioannis is a funny and charming person who was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with. We were guided through Athenian markets, stores and sights (and given historic context to the things we were seeing) before we were taken to a local restaurant and experienced authentic Greek cuisine. Then we stopped at 2 other locations to get more food! We loved it! Ioannis was extremely accommodating to us and even spent additional time with us showing us some of his favorite local restaurants and bars that we might enjoy visiting during the remainder of our stay. He answered a slew of questions and we had regarding life in Athens, and shared his own travel experinces. Later that evening we enjoyed dinner at one of his favorite places, and had Spritz cocktails in his honor. I would gladly spend another afternoon dining with Ioannis and hearing his stories!Wonderful experience

Yorga was quite enjoyable during our food tour. He really did a wonderful job of finding unique Greek dishes for us to try since we were accustomed to the usual dishes. We were all quite pleased. My recommendations to improve the experience is to 1) assess the walking ability of the whole group as our walk to last restaurant was very long for the over 65 folks, and 2) don’t wait too long for one item. The dessert was a long wait which made the walk to final restaurant feel even longer. Would definitely recommend Jorga though. Delightful ! Fun experience

Manos is a very nice guy, very knowledgeable about the city’s neighborhoods and history. His English is perfect. However, the tastings were meager and not very interesting. We did not come close to the 10 tastings promised in the listing. We walked through the meat and seafood market to observe but were not offered any tastings. Two of the tastings were coffee. The last stop for lunch was a random souvlaki sandwich place with no explanation as to why he selected that place over the multitude of others in the city. One of the stops was a very nice shop with local ingredients where we had an olive oil tasting. There was, however, no information at all as to why this olive oil was selected or how to differentiate between the many varieties. All in all, Manos did not seem to know much about the local food scene. The tour lasted just a little over 2 hours. Compared to the many food tours we have taken in other cities, this one was a disappointment.Not enough food
