Ruairi was an absolutely fantastic tour guide! We loved hearing the history, cultural significance and personal anecdotes about each place we visited! And every bite of food he brought us to was phenomenal! We adored the variety we got to try and he was really attentive to adapting things if he found out one of us wasn’t a fan of a certain flavor (I’m not a coffee person and he remembered that when he gave us some guinness since it’s also bitter and turned it into a cocktail for me so I’d enjoy it more!). Not to mention his wit and sense of humor! We were laughing the whole way! We really felt like we knew the real Dublin a lot better because of his tour and highly recommend him!!Wonderful tour!

Ruairi is an entertaining guide. He has lots of colorful tidbits and facts on the local culture and its history. We had plenty to eat and drink and even bypassed the last stop in favor of the most delicious ice cream at Murphy’s. The stop at Sweny’s Pharmacy was an add on and he was kind enough to pick us up at the train station rather than the originally scheduled meet up. Ruairi was such a pleasure to have lead us on a food tour through Dublin. He came with waters and Tayto chips for the large amount of kids with us, and all of the places were prepared for our large group. The cherry on top was taking us to a Pub where we learned the proper way on how to pour a Guiness. Our private food tour with Mydie was wonderful. She is personable and fun, and we felt like we were with an old friend. Walking around the city and going to several different food places on both the North and South sides of Dublin, was very interesting. We got to sample meat pies and cider, fish and chips, some very yummy fudge and chocolates and of course, to top it all off, delicious ice cream. It was a great day and we hated for it to end. This is extremely disappointing as I reserved this food walking tour in April and I arrived this morning in Ireland for the first time looking forward to this experience. Had I known this was a scam, I would have booked something through TripAdvisor but was hoping to support local. What a horrible let down. Waited for over 45 mins for an individual that never showed up and never communicated any alternatives. So far this company has been has been inattentive with regards to any follow through with a refund or explanation. What a scam and a horrible first day experience in Ireland. Scam

There are two sides to this story. First, Mydie was a delight! As you will read below, she made this tour happen for us and we are grateful. She was knowledgeable about the general history of the country, that tied beautifully to the stories about the food. She made it feel like we were sharing food among friends. Booking months in advance, we were very disappointed that the tour was cancelled a few days in prior with no explanation. We had planned a lot of the trip around this. I went back to the website to see if anyone else was available. They were not. I decided to reach out directly to Mydie. She sowed she was available an hour earlier than our preferred time, but not our time. Being this was our arrival day, I did not have the flexibility to start earlier. She immediately responded to me and said she could make it happen! I was hesitant to try again, but we are so grateful we did. The experience with the tour company was bumpy, but Mydie (who had nothing to do with the scheduling issue) came through with a wonderful tour! Our 10 Tastings Tour with Carl was a great start to our visit to Dublin. A beautiful sunny Sunday night had the streets full of people. So much so that our first food stop was out of food, much to Carl’s chagrin. He adjusted nicely on the fly and proceeded with a great variety of foods at about 5 different stops. All the food choices he made were delicious. There’s no way we could have had that variety of food on our own. And we were definitely full by the end of the tour. Ruairi had excellent pre tour communication to find out if we had any food allergies or dislikes(we didn’t want spicy). He also kindly made several suggestions for us to do in Dublin before our food tour with him. And responded to a question re scary or haunted tours to recommend. We didn’t walk too far but our stops were all different and varied. Loved the street market places, the fancy food hall, the pubs and the pub food. Each stop had interesting stories, with time left over for asking questions and quiet conversation. We finished with chocolate and then ice cream. A perfect way to spend our last afternoon in Dublin. Fabulous tour with Ruairi and food too!
