We've just returned from a wonderful week in Morocco, and one of the real highlights was spending time in Fez with Driss as our guide. Driss is a great guide, friendly, relaxed, really knowledgeable, and flexible to find out what we wanted to do. We had booked the 3 hour food tour, but with Driss that turned into a 4 hour tour, taking in the tanneries and other things we wanted to visit. Then the next day, without any additional charge, Driss arranged to take us to a fascinating pottery village, plus some additional local food stops. He really put himself out to make our time in Fez interesting . Seeing a place with someone who knows it like the back of his hand, and loves it, is pretty special. Enjoyed the food tour with Idriss. Good variety of foods sampled, paced nicely so as not to feel too full. Showed us several additional points of interest, including the tannery, an ancient university, and a hamman. Guide was knowledgeable and could answer any questions posed. In retrospect a 2-3 minute overview of the history of the Medina at the beginning of the tour would have helped contextualise the afternoon, and a bit more info on the origins of each dish might have enhanced the experience even more. Overall it was a great way to spend an afternoon and I can recommend to folks looking to orient yourself in the Medina and sample a variety of tasty foods while you're at it.Thanks for a great tour!

We booked Driss as a food tour, however, we got our timings slightly wrong, and met up late from large lunch (our mistake). Driss waited over 40 minutes for us to arrive and was very accommodating to our situation (we were not very hungry). Driss’s excellent knowledge of the market allowed him to flex the tour to take us past the snacks, where we enjoyed some local delicacies. We asked to be shown handicrafts that expertly wove in to the tour. We fired many questions at Driss, all which he answered knowledgeably. His love, passion & knowledge for Fes and his culture shone through the whole tour as we not only saw all the food & drink we wanted but also saw some of the historical traditions of dying, weaving as well interesting sites, such as the University and the narrowest street in Fes. We rounded off our tour with some traditional tea in the most authentic location. We cannot recommend Driss highly enough.Incredible & unforgettable experience.

I enjoyed my time with Hamid! His knowledge of his history and his story telling was excellent! Unfortunately this food tour did not live up to the standards of the usual food tours I partake in! This was not Hamid’s fault as Fes was already shutting down (I did the 5-8pm slot) Maybe I should’ve been declined that slot as it really impeded upon my experience. I can vouch for the other 4 food tours that I did in Morocco ( Casablanca and Marrakech) that those cities were very much alive in the early evening for the food tours.Hamid…an excellent story teller!

Noureddine was the perfect guide. Not only was he sweet, professional and a true food-nerd, he was also sharing history facts, and gave us half a language course during the tour. We had a wonderful food tour with Noureddine in Fes. He was communicative, knowledgeable, and fun to walk around the Medina with. He is a former travel agent and certified tour guide through Morocco's Ministry of Tourism. He made sure we had a clear meeting time & place, and when he arrived he provided us with bags for extra food, tissues, hand sanitizer, and hand wipes to use throughout the tour. He was also sure to ask us what we were most interested in hearing about, and he provided us with a mix of history and cuisine, as we asked. We started at the Blue Gate, and made our way deep into the Medina over the course of about 3.5 hours, stopping at various stalls along the way for bites to eat. Noureddine answered all of our questions, and introduced us to several people along the way. We had plenty of stops (at least 10), and he gave us options at each stall as to what we were most interested in trying. We tried everything from nougat and olives to mint tea and kefta sandwiches. The variety of food was wonderful, as was the information Noureddine provided along the way. We did the tour the night we arrived in Fes, and it was the perfect way to orient ourselves (as much as is possible!) in the Old Medina. We would recommend a tour with Noureddine to anyone!A highlight of our trip to Fes!

Driss walked us through so many areas of the medinas. We saw the main attractions but also experienced with the locals. He adapted the tour to what we like. Idriss was very friendly and welcoming. He provided us with lots of information about the city of Fes. Along your way you will walk through the Medina and several other locations around town. On the way you experience pottery and tile work, rug weaving, a leather tannery, lots of small craft shops, and delicious local food. The food was great, we got to taste lots of traditional salads, pastillas, tagines, and honey cakes. Idriss is very kind and helpful, and you can adjust the tour to your liking. The experience was amazing, and family friendly. He knows his way around the Medina and takes you through lots of beautiful little streets where, without a guide, you would get lost in a minute. If you want to, Idriss can take you to mini tours through traditional artisans shops where they show you their craft. Please note that these might come with a no-pressure sales speech. It is very easy to say "no" and move on with your tour. These artisans are masters of their craft and have very interesting tours. We learned a lot and had a great time with Idriss! Amazing and friendly experience

We had a wonderful walking tour of the old Medina of Fez with Hamid, our knowledgeable and friendly guide. He old us enthusiastically about history, culture and life in this part of Fez which was fascinating (and in fluent English). Think the Medina of Fez is one of the most interesting visits of our Morocco trip. We visited historical highlights including the tannery, old mosques and tombs. The place is like a maze, without him we would have been lost.! There was no pushing of visiting shops which we appreciated. Driss was a wonderful host of his amazing city. He was patient, kind, and informative, pointing out many interesting sights and features that we would have never noticed otherwise (such as a community bakery for people to make their daily bread). If there is anything in particular you want to see, Driss will make sure you see it. And he is very funny and well-known in the Medina so you really feel like you are walking around with a local friend. At the end of the tour, Driss refused to leave us until he had gotten us in a cab and ensured the fare even though he had another tour starting soon afterwards. On our first day in Fez we started with a guided tour through the Medina with Driss. He really is Driss gps, it seems like everyone knows him and he is greeted everywhere. He showed us around the highlights and gave us a good first impression of the old Medina. He dropped us off at a weavery, tannery, university, hammam, shops and restaurants. We did ask for non touristy recommendations and felt he came a bit short on that front. Doing the tour with Driss gave us the confidence to wander around and explore on ourselves afterwards. Our trek through the Medina behind Driss showed us some neat corners of the medina. We especially loved the tiny hallway streets and the tidbits of history. Rcif Souk especially stood out--it was incredible to move through and past food, dyers, people, energy. The rest of the experience was very focused on commerce. At each of the locations we visited we were met by a very knowledgable buisnessman who told us about the artisans techniques and encouraged us to make purchases. We had a wonderful tour with Noureddine yesterday. We couldn't have asked for a better guide: first of all he has been very kind to come and pick us up very close to our accomodation (it is very easy to get lost in those narrow streets;) ) We walked through the most hidden streets, so that he was able to explain us something about the structure of the houses, the 5 essential elements of a medina etc. out of the loudness of the busy streets. We seized this opportunity indeed also to ask about a lot of our curiosities about life here etc. Then we crossed the street that divides the former tunisian quartier to the spanish one and we entered in the different souks: the fruits and vegetable market, the leather and dying souk, the copper one.. he was so nice to lead us in one of the madrasa explaining everything in a detailed way. Then we also visited a former "founduk" and a carpet and silk, cotton and wool workshop (amazing). We had then the best mint tea we have ever tried in this tiny place that for sure we wouldnt have found without him, it is very hidden and on the top of a building. The guy there was so fun and kind to let us smell all the herbs he picks up to make then the tea. Towards the end our guide pointed us the tannery we were interested in and then led us into the street food area where we had delicious meat, sardines and kind of potato meatballs. Overall, Noureddine spent with us way more time then expected and really fulfilled our expactations 100%! (Btw, we are tour guides ourselves so we completely understand every little side of the job). Completely recommended!We couldn't have asked for a better guide!

Nourredine is a fantastic guide and a totally lovely person! We spent a day with him visiting Fes, learning about the history, the culture, the architecture--everything we were interested in. We visited the ramparts and the Jewish section where we learned so much about wedding protocols. We saw all the amazing artisanal areas. I think that each time Nourredine must have called ahead to a special contact of his, because there was always someone particular to take charge of us and show us the inner workings of the craft: of the pottery and mosaics, of the leather tannery. We haed fun bargaining! We opted for street food and he took us to a great place he knew. Time flew by and by the end of the day we felt we had had a real glimpse into the complexity and richness of this amazing city. Thank you Nourredine!!!The best guide we've ever had!

Noureddine was unbelievably good from start to finish. His communication prior was thorough and clear. The tour itself was incredibly informative and nothing was too much trouble. We asked loads of questions and so we overran by almost 2 hours, and offered to cut things out as a result, but he would not hear of it. We never once felt at all rushed. Salim was very knowledgable and easy to find. Though we were to go for 3 hours we actually went 4. He tried to make sure we understood his English but my wife and I both, had a lot of difficulty understanding, which made it a very tiring experience. We went to some very fascinating, local artisans. Though we were presented products to buy, we never felt pressured. At about 3 1/2 hours in, we reversed our walk towards where we began. As well as the usual information about Fes that you would expect, throughout the tour Noureddine took the time to point out small details of interest providing local insights into the city, whether it was unique architectural details, cultural observations, or tips for navigating the medina. Many guides could provide you with an introductory tour, but these were the details that you can only get from someone that really knows and has a passion for the city.
