Haq was a terrific guide for our food tour. Hiroshima has so many food options but we asked him to preference those foods that Hiroshima was known for. His local knowledge was invaluable and each course was delivered with an informative dialogue. We ended our tour in the Peace Memorial Park and his knowledge of WW11 and the A-bomb was incredible. We really enjoyed our food tour in Hiroshima with Haq. He was very knowledgeable about Hiroshima and its history and was a fun and entertaining guide. The food choices were great and he took us to excellent smaller places off the beaten path that would have been difficult to find on our own. We liked that he was really well-informed on how each selection was important to the food scene in Hiroshima. Haq also shared personal stories about his experiences living in the city which gave us an insider’s perspective that we really appreciated. Haq was fantastic. He got our tour last minute bc our original guide got the flu. He was very friendly and took us to the best food spots. We got to taste all the local favorites. Haq had made reservations for us and we even had spots waiting for us at places that don’t take reservations!! The food was amazing. Haq knows so much about the town and the culture. Awais went above and beyond for us! I’m traveling with my daughter and her bestie, just in our small group we have an allergy to peanuts and a pescatarian. Awais went to all of the planned places the night before to double check for any allergy or dietary restrictions issues. He also spent extra time walking us around the area which really expanded our understanding of the community, reconstruction post WWII, and history of the food. His English is almost perfect!! So much more than expected!!

If you are in Hiroshima a tour with Haq is an absolute must! We had the best day and the hours flew like second. We booked 5 hours and endes up with 8 hours. Haq is a great storyteller with so many great anecdoctes and knowledge about history and culture. He speaks japanese fluently and is completely integrated i japanese culture, so ask him anything, and he will answer. You can tell he loves his job as a guide and is definately the best at it. He was incredibly profesional, service minded, helpful, flexible and communicative before and during the trip. He is humorous and very enjoysble person to spend the day with for my husband, our teenagers and I. I can recommend to arrange a long day with him.A must meet guide in Hiroshima

2 adults and 2 kids from Ireland [13 and 11]... we loved this tour. Awais was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to understand. He navigated us through the Peace Memorial Park in just over 3 hours, something we would never have managed on our own in the heat. His commentary kept us engaged and time flew by. This alone was worth the cost of the tour and gave us a better understanding of the event. We don't normally pay for tours opting to self guide instead, however on this occasion, it was well worth it and I would do it all again. We highly recommend Awais and Withlocals.Fantastic tour

We had a great history tour of Hiroshima with Haq. He shared many details with us as he walked us through the city. It was a bit of a squeeze to add Miyajima island as the Peace Museum captivated us for a long time. Miyajima island lightened the tour though and was a fun end with deer that were friendly to the touch, sweet treats and some cool history about the island too. We would definitely recommend this tour to families that want to spend the day learning about the history of Hiroshima - it was wonderful.Great history tour

I usually do not rate tours that high or write good reviews if I not truly believe the tour deserves it. However, this one was great! We had a wonderful 3 hour walking tour with Haq. Her speaks great English. He was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions. His tour is very interactive and interesting. Haq gave us many details that we would have never known had we not listened to his historical references. He kept my 20 and 18 year old sons’ as well as my husband and my attention the whole three hours! So interesting! We visited all the important monuments in Peace Memorial Park. Haq made it very enjoyable. We highly recommend Haq.Outstanding Tour!

Although we had rain on and off throughout the day we made the best of it. Nabeel our tour guide was great, very knowledgeable. We started at the peace memorial museum and park, very powerful, then walked to the dome building, a ruin from the atomic bomb. Then headed to the Island of Miyajima Island to visit the torii gate in the water and Itsukushima shrine. If you’re looking for an informed Hiroshima guide then Haq’s your man. He adapted the tour to our interests even allowing for some special event that was happening at the Peace Museum. We really enjoyed our tour of Hiroshima with Haq. He was a very knowledgable guide and shared some interesting insights which helped us understand the context behind the atomic bomb and its aftermath, as well as other Japanese cultural and geopolitical issues. He was particularly patient with my daughters (13, 11, 5) and showed great flexibility and generosity when one of the girls felt unwell during the tour. He quickly adapted and offered to use his own car to make it more comfortable for us to continue the tour rather than cancelling. Well beyond the call of duty. We had a great tour with Awais - it was enjoyable and it was evident he had amazing knowledge of the historical areas and events. I couldn’t fault the tour and the information as it was exactly what we were after. The only downside I would mention would be related to the price - value rating and some simple communication errors. When we booked the tour it was advertised as a private guide, upon arriving we were told we needed to wait for another couple joining us. They were a lovely couple and there was no issues with them, however I was a little annoyed with the price we paid and the fact it was advertised as private to have another couple on the tour. Furthermore, we had to organise a baby sitter and we had numerous requests from Awais for time changes beforehand which did add a layer of complexity, Secondly, we did the museum beforehand to ensure we could maximise the site visits, however upon arriving Awais suggested he was going to take us into the museum. This should have been communicated before and did affect the efficiency of the tour. All in all I enjoyed it but did find it slightly expensive. Great tour with informative guide

Our group of four had a great day with Haq whilst visiting Hiroshima by cruise. Haq met us at the cruise terminal and allowed us to coordinate a tour with all the must-do’s of Hiroshima, including a ferry ride to Miyajima, tasting local delicacies, eating a traditional lunch of Okonomiyaki or Hiroshima-yaki as known by the locals! We travelled into town for an informative afternoon at the Hiroshima Peace Park, all at our own pace with expert local knowledge. We did a tour with Awais. His knowledge and history of the Peace Park and Museum was outstanding. He carefully navigated us through the museum and the park in a skilful way so we could learn and see lots in the park while making sure we saw what we wanted too. Then later visiting the castle and the gardens was also wonderful. We had a great time with Haq - the Peace Park, the Hiroshima castle and Miya-jima. We had a great meal of okonimiyaki and also learnt a lot from Haq along the way. The tour is much longer than 5 hours due to the fact that Miyajima is a train-ride away and there's a lot to see there, so keep that in mind when you decide what you'd like to prioritize seeing. Haq is very open to being flexible, which is great and the tour worked very well for our group, which was three people, but three generations - and everyone had a great time ! We really enjoyed our tour. Unfortunately, our plans were confused by restraints imposed by our cruise boat so a five or six hour tour had to be rearranged at the last minute. Our guide, Nabeel, was very accommodating and flexible and because the day was fine and sunny, we gave more time to parks and gardens than to castles and museums.
