Choji was an awesome tour guide. He was full of information about Lima and walked us around to neighborhoods, streets, restaurants, and areas that we would have never been able to do on our own. His historic knowledge was impressive and was the perfect way to start our Lima vacation. We loved visiting the alleys of Chinatown - we would have never found this and the food was delicious! My wife and I booked a tasting tour with Choji and cannot be happier. We were able to communicate before the tour using WhatsApp and that made coordinating our meeting time and location easier. Choji is the perfect tour guide for the 10 tastings of Lima. He is a Peruvian with Japanese roots which provides very interesting insights. Choji has also travelled extensively so he is able to add his experience in other places to contrast with Peru. On top of that, his grandmother had a bakery right in the city center and he grew up in that area. As a result, you get an inside look with his deep connections. The tour covers a lot of the "daily" food of typical Peruvians and also multiple districts (new, old, Chinatown, and the market). We walked for nearly 3 hours and ate a lot of food! At each stop, Choji doesn't just explain what the food is, he talked about the history of the store and the owners. He took us into the kitchen of the oldest bar in Lima and explained how they are all descendants of the workers that took over when the owners left. At each stop, he introduced each owner and you just feel like he is sharing his relationships with you. You can sense the pride he has in sharing his insights but also in ensuring that we had a good tour. Unlike some of the other tours, Choji will also participate in eating the food at certain stops and you just see how much he enjoys the food! Choji also shared his experience growing up in Peru as a Okinawan which was very interesting to me. With the Japanese having such a big influence in the cuisine of Peru and Choji having culinary experience, it was a great opportunity to learn. This tour is a good way to learn the local foods of Lima. Choji doesn't just provide the food but adds his fun and immersive personality throughout the tour. I enjoyed our 3 hours with Choji! Choji is the local expert!

I purchased 2 food tours with Choji. Of the 10 “bites” to try 8 of them were sweets. On top of that each place we visited he ordered one piece of food that me and the other person I was with had to share, even though we both spent money on it. As if the portions weren’t small enough he proceeded to taste all of our food. Where it crossed the line was when he ordered our one shared plate of ceviche and tasted it then double dipped with out asking and ate nearly half the plate. The price is not worth it for the quantity nor quality of food. The total price of the food consumed could not be more than $20 since every place we went to was one dish or bite for the both of us and him apparently. We were informed that our only complaint would be that we would be “so full” after the tour which was not the case at all. That being said, he was overall very friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining but not suitable for our taste. Mixed review

Our family had a great time with Choji as he showed us some hidden gems in the Centro Historico we never would have found on our own. Choji is so well known in this neighborhood, it's like he's the unofficial mayor. Because of those relationships he was able to take us deep into the markets, giving us the history of the families that run the food stalls and a better understanding of the role each dish plays in Peruvian culture. We couldn't have asked for a better host or more fun packed into in three hours of eating and exploring. Choji is a great host.

We absolutely loved our tour with Choji. He was super informative on the history of not only Peruvian food but how it linked to the rest of the world. It was so interesting.He also managed to keep my 4 year old engaged and having fun and going to the market was such an eye opener for her little eyes and ours. I had the best time exploring Lima with Choji. We had about 10 stops, each of them representing a different side and heritage of Lima. I loved all the food we tried, and conversation was fantastic. We did the tour with Choji with my family (three little kids, they had to taste everything and loved it… most of it) and it was fascinating. Choji is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide that shows you around the busy streets of Lima with lightning speed to eat, taste, smell and see the most incredible things the Peruvian kitchen has to offer. You end up upstairs in small restaurants where all the locals eat, for a reason. We would have never had the guts to go in and order the exotics things Choji threw at us. So many wonderful memories were made during our day long tour of Lima with Lorena. We started our day when she graciously met us at our hotel at 10AM. We spent the next 5 hours walking and using Uber all over the city while also learning about the historic and archeological history of Peru and Lima. Along the way Lorena gave us opportunities to sample many of the local and country's delicacies and interesting unique foods. Some examples are: causa, ceviche, churros, local grown coffees, and local fruits (lucuma & more!) at one of the cities main Mercados. Shopping for alpaca products/jewelry and then a recommendation for a fabulous dining experience at Huaca Pucllana near the adobe/clay pyramid. We would highly recommend Lorena as a guide to anyone visiting Lima, is a foodie, and appreciates historical education.Amazing day in Lima!!

Es ist wie ein Spaziergang mit einem Bekannten. Choji was EXCELLENT! What a wonderful way to kick off our first night in Lima and begin our trip with a local who loves his country and sharing it with others. First off, I had accidentally booked out tour for the WRONG DATE and when I contacted Choji he saved the day! He quickly suggested alternatives to accommodate my mistake and ultimately ended up doing our tour just hours later so we didn't miss the experience. He even ended up bringing us back to our hotel in his own car at the end of the night. What great service. He made us feel like he truly cared and we had an instant connection with someone from Lima. We sampled foods from the market area, street food, Chinatown and probably the best roasted chicken we'd ever had - I know, chicken - right?? Choji is like a walking encyclopedia and you can feel the passion he has for history, architecture and Peru in general and we were so engaged. Our "10 Tastings" tour with Choji was an absolute highlight of our trip to Lima! Not only did we get to indulge in 10 incredible tastings at hidden gems and local favorites, but Choji also brought the city's history and culture to life. Top Empfehlung! Weil unsere Route plötzlich geändert wurde, kontaktierte ich Choji kurzfristig, ob er uns neben der Food-Tour noch etwas anbieten könnte. Er bot uns mehrere Optionen und wir entschieden uns für eine Radtour, die er gerade neu entwickelt. Alles war wirklich perfekt, die Räder waren gut, wir konnten jederzeit für ein Foto anhalten und er zeigte uns die besten Plätze für Fotos. Am Abend gingen wir noch spontan gemeinsam essen. Die Wege sind gut, es gibt fast keine Steigung und alles ist gut zu erreichen. Die Food-Tour war auch wirklich ausgezeichnet. Man merkt Choji an, dass er liebt, was er macht. Alle Speisen waren zu 100% lokal und lecker. Von allem hatte er eine Geschichte zu erzählen und kennt viele der Produzenten persönlich. Auch meinen Sonderwunsch, den ich im Vorhinein mit ihm besprochen hatte, erfüllte er mir: Meerschweinchen. Dieses hatte er einen Tag zuvor auf dem Markt gekauft und zur Zubereitung in ein Restaurant gebracht. Selbst für kurze Stopps in Souvenirläden oder der Apotheke nahm er sich Zeit. Doch nicht nur kulinarisch hatte seine Tour etwas zu bieten. Die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Innenstadt konnten wir besichtigen und sogar spontan in ein Museum gehen, in dem archäologische Fundstücke aus der präinka Zeit gezeigt wurden. Dies war wieder ein Geheimtipp und zudem kostenlos. Ich hoffe sehr, dass Choji nach Deutschland kommt und wir uns revanchieren können. Rundum perfekte Tage
