Jarmila gave us a really nice welcome and showed us some great food spots in Prague. There were exciting insights into the history of Prague and great tips. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for 10 tastings, but it was still a nice insight. We are a group of 4 visiting Prague for the 1st time . We love tasting foods from the Country we are visiting. We decided to book this tour , 1st because it was a personal small tour and because it specifically was geared for foods that the locals ate . This way we did not waste time trying to figure out what was Chez. good chez. Food. Thomas was truly amazing , he told us about the area we were in ( not a tourist Area) , The different foods that the locals ate, and what was their cuisine . We had open face sandwiches , desserts , grilled meats in a butcher shop , local wines and the best at the end …. Beer with local dishes . Our tour with Michal was delightful and delicious. We started in an area where the locals live so we felt as though our experience was authentic to what the people of Prague might experience. We were able to visit small shops sampling traditional soups, sandwiches, meats, and pastries. British Airways canceled our first flight to Prague and rescheduled us two days later. When they canceled we called the number in our confirmation email and was able to get in touch with Tomáš. When we told him about the flight cancellation, he was very accommodating and we rescheduled it for Monday. Unfortunately Bridget Airways canceled the rescheduled flight to Prague and was not able to schedule us again until we should’ve been flying out of Prague. When we recontacted Tomáš he said there could not be refunded because it has been rescheduled, Very accommodating but no refund

In the past, Czech lands belonged to the Austrian empire which made up most of central Europe at the time. Because of this, Czechs were part of a state unit which included Slovaks, Austrians, and Hungarians. At first glance, a lot of the food seems to be the same regardless of culture but with a little understanding, it is easy to see that this is not true - they are all unique in different (and sometimes confusing) ways. Now imagine trying to choose just 10 tastes to encompass history, nature, culture, tradition, etc, while incorporating food preferences, visiting restaurants and shops, travelling through Prague, and so on. Quite intimidating...and yet, Michal nailed it. Michal is approachable, friendly, warm, and very knowledgeable. Our tasting tour ran the gamut - literally from soup to nuts. We are lucky to have no food restrictions beyond preference (and we like to be challenged when in a new place) but it was obvious Michal could and would make accomodations for preferences, allergies, religious observance, etc cetera. So if you do have restrictions, rest assured you will be still able to have a lovely tour. Come hungry! Be ready to walk. We're very active so everything for us was manageable and the tour itself was efficiently laid out because Michal knows (and loves) his city, but I was still glad I wore good walking shoes (purchased in Lisbon, Portugal because they know cobblestones, too!) If you have mobility issues, I am sure it can be accommodated, but make sure you mention it (and food allergies, preferences, etc) when setting up your tour! Not only was the tour personalized, it was also personal - I was especially touched by our visit to a local bakery when Michal shared not only recommendations but some stories about his family and their daily lives and traditions. Michal's father and I both like the same kind of pastry, and this tickled me! Don't get me wrong, Michal is aware of the overarching history of his city and country and so knows big picture, but sitting in the bakery, with good coffee and an amazing baked treat while talking about Sunday afternoons with family brought a human-size perspective to a visit to a country that has a long, complex, and sometimes grim history. Michal chose a wide variety of foods and purveyors - I liked that he took us to small, local, independent shops/farmers/butchers as well as selected for unique experiences - like drinking wine on the sidewalk outside a shop that specializes in small vineyard producers. I won't go into to details so as not to ruin it - I'll just share that it was wonderful and unique and if you take this tour and can do this - DO IT. All of our tastings were fabulous and when I mentioned that one of my favorite things to do when traveling is to go to local grocery stores to buy snacks for later, Michal ended our trip in a local grocery (located in a historic building) and made some recommendations for candy and treats. These treats ater on saved me a few times during travel and cycling when I needed a pick-me-up! Michal was also very detail oriented and attuned to us and our interests. He did a great job incorporating them on the fly. Upon learning I have an interest in Brutalist architecture he made sure to include some sights and information, as well as recommendations for post-tour activities and places to see as we went from one tasting to another. Let me tell you, the three hours of this tour flew by! It was a wonderful and filling (literally and figuratively) introduction to the cuisine and culture of Prague and the Czech Republic.
