Massimo was easily reachable prior to the tour. No issues finding him at our meeting point. Claudia was fantastic. The fact that she is a pastry chef meant she really knew food and gave us tips for do’s and don’t’s that have proven spot-on for our week in Rome. My family and I had a great food tour with Gabriele. We tried lots of traditional Roman foods and got a glimpse of the local history in the old town area. We booked Massimo as our guide for a food tour through Rome’s historic center. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 children, ages 8 and 4. Massimo was an incredible guide, and our 3 hours with him were among the best and most memorable experiences of our entire trip. Massimo’s stories about the history of the area really brought the neighborhoods to life and gave us a deeper understanding and appreciation for streets we had walked on many times before. He kept the kids engaged the entire time as well. His guidance was incredibly valuable because some of the most authentic foods and locations are hidden amid tourist traps. I would recommend Francesca, specifically, if you want to do a food tour in Rome. It was especially helpful for us as first time visitors to Rome. Meeting spot was great, food variety worked really well for us, and it’s exactly what we needed as an introduction to local Roman and Italian food. Francesca‘s knowledge of food and her relationships at the market and different restaurants made the tour feel like it was a lot more than just showing us spots and dishes to order, but a great time learning about history, culture, and the nuances of local food. Conversation was great, she was so easy to be with for three hours, and she even gave us some incredible recommendations after the tour for other spots we could explore. Favorite stops were food tasting in the market, the most amazing pizza, and a spot with fresh suppli. Almost forgot the gelato! Now that I think about it, everything was pretty amazing! Most food tours take place in Trastevere, which is fantastic but there is nothing more "Roman" than taking a tour with Paola through the Testaccio Market (and surrounding shops) where real folks do their shopping and the prices are significantly less. We loved our food tour with Stefano!! We got to try several different street foods, several of which I would never have known to try. The sheep skewers were delicious!! We also had salumi and cheese with wine, multiple kinds of pizza, fried artichokes, suppli, zucchini blossoms, maritozzo, cannoli, and more, while also getting to explore the city. Stefano had some great suggestions on other things to do in Rome and restaurants to try off the beaten path. This isn’t a restaurant tour as some seem to expect, but it is a chance to explore the city and taste some Roman foods you otherwise might not. We truly enjoyed this tour!Excellent Tour!!
