Giovanni has a beautiful soft nature and tailored our tour to our needs. We visited some of those little ‘off the beaten path’ places and had a wonderful introduction to Sorrento. If you are thinking of booking, do it! And I’d suggest do it early in your trip as it will also help orient you to the beautiful place.

This tour was more amazing than we could have imagined. We wanted an authentically local exploration of the food the city has to offer, and Giovanni provided exactly that. We ate dishes that originated in Sorrento, cheese that comes from the surrounding countryside, delicious wine and limoncello, and also got free advice about the best artisans to buy from. There was an initial hiccough at the start, but this was quickly resolved. He was so knowledgeable and so kind. He took us to some really amazing and authentic places. From the moment we met Giovanni, we felt welcomed and at ease. His knowledge of Sorrento and genuine interest in our trip added to the experience. What a true local experience trying out all the things we wouldn’t have even come to know of as a tourist. Visiting the dairy was such a nice idea. I was a vegetarian and my husband wanted to try everything that was non vegetarian. Giovanni took such great care of our preference. And his knowledge about the food, the culture and the stories were so entertaining.
Plus super thanks to him for being such a help throughout our trip in Italy, he was just a message away all the time.

Giovanni was an amazing guide through the local food scene of Sorrento, with some history sprinkled in along the way. We sampled amazing pastries and confections, sipped limoncello with a wonderful shopkeeper, and enjoyed vino Rosa with authentic fior de latte and provolone with Sorrento salami at a local dairy. The gnocchi with fresh tomato sauce was unbelievable and was served in a lovely bar with a cast of characters that felt very authentic. It was like spending an afternoon with a good friend who knew the area well. It was just the three of us, so we were able to practice our Italian and ask MANY questions about the food and area. Giovanni was happy to provide many recommendations for other things to do and see in the area. The tour was 3 hours and was easy to walk. We were a group of eight, the majority in their early seventies. After exchanging texts with our guide Giovanni asking him to limit the amount of walking and to make sure we had a sit down food tasting in a local restaurant, this friendly, engaging guide did exactly what we requested. To begin our tour, we drank wine, sampled meats and cheeses at a remarkable cheese store, loaded with typical products. We enjoyed speaking with the owner and Giovanni about the various products while sitting at tables outside this remarkable shop. Afterwards, after a short walk, we sat down to more wine and pasta at a restaurant that had musical entertainment. An incredible, fun time was had by all, as we ate, drank, sang and danced. The food was excellent. We completed our food tour by visiting various shops in Sorrento's historical center, sampling gelato, chocolates, and, of course, Sorrento's famous limoncello. The tour was special, made more so by our guide Giovanni. An incredibly enjoyable evening!

Giovanni was a delight! We had a variety of tastings and all were delicious. We were a bit concerned that we would be overwhelmed with the amount of food, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had a great time with Gennaro. He really made us feel like we were part of the city and enjoyed walking around the streets, enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of local Napoli.
It was very informative and we learned a lot and after the tour we really felt familiar with the place as well as a good feel for where we were.
This was our first day and after the tour we already had a good idea where we wanted to go next and what to do.

Three of us travelled to Napoli for my mother’s 70th birthday and my partner fancied trying a food tour of the city. I’m not a big foodie, but I love history and Gennaro balanced a perfect mix of both.
