Fall in love with the flavorful cuisine on this delicious food tour in Tallinn! From yummy must-tries like KiluvΓ΅ileib to unique dishes typical of the city such as Marzipan; you’re in for a treat, so bring your appetite.

This culinary tour in Tallinn is a cultural journey that takes you further than the food you’ll eat. As you enjoy authentic local bites ranging from savory, sweet as well as drinks, you’ll also discover the city and its highlights. Stop to admire the Old Town, Town Hall Square, and Dome Church and hear about their local relevance from your host as you hop from one food hot spot to the other - what can be better than that?

Welcome to our 3 hour food tour of Tallinn, Estonia. The old town of Tallinn is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its charming medieval walled city. The best way to get to know a city is through its food, so we will be taking you on a tour of the cobblestone streets to discover the traditional and modern Estonian food and drink that is enjoyed by locals.

We will start our tour by meeting our guide from the Town Hall Square. We will begin our culinary journey at a medieval eatery housed in a large historical building that has been fully restored as a restaurant. Here we will start with a bowl of winter squash and parsnip soup and a shot of pepper vodka. The bread basket that comes with the soup is a must-try, as it is soft and warm with a delicious butter mixture of butter and mayonnaise or sour cream.

Our second stop will be at the Gourmet Market, one of the modern food markets in the city. Here you will find shelves worth of great local products that you can grab off the shelf and take with you, along with pre-made meals for a quick and easy lunch.

We will also make a stop at a local bar to try some Estonian craft beer by Γ•llenaut OÜ, called Eesti Rukki Eil. This Rye Ale is a tasty local favorite that you can find at most restaurants in the old town.

Our last stop will be at a traditional Estonian restaurant where we will sample some traditional dishes such as smoked fish, black bread, and pickled vegetables. We will end our tour with a taste of Estonia's famous Vana Tallinn liqueur.

Don't forget to check out the other great things to do in Tallinn and the other Nordic foods you should try in Finland and Sweden with Withlocals.

Well Paul the guide never messaged us prior to arrival, then no showed us. His phone was off and later we finally got a message saying β€œSorry I was ill”. Thats it. Only apologizes after I complain to WithLocals. Even if sick a notice would have been nice. Considering we only had one day and I paid two months ago, and he was to pick us up from the boat, a little notice would have been nice. I still have not gotten a refund, and I paid over $380. Not sure how this guide has 5 stars. Ive never been no showed before. Terrible experience. Be careful. No showed us, terrible experience

Anna was very knowledgeable in Talinn and its history. She was able to answer any question we had and flexible in the tour focus. Great choices on the places she took us for the β€œfood tour” too - we would not have found the places without her local insight. Great experience !

Anna spoke English adequately, however, most of the information she provided could have been found in any guide book. She was 15 minutes late, but kept up a running commentary on the traffic situation while we waited, but also she finished the 3-hour-tour half an hour early, because β€œwe had covered all the listed topics”. All in all a rather a little disappointing. Average at best

Anna gave us a nice and compact overview about the history of Tallinn, combined with a lot of nice anecdotes and trivia. Do you know why the hotel from Soviet times near the city center is called the β€œmicrophone building”?Great overview

I reached out to Paul several hours before our arrival in Tallinn thru the WithLocals chat. He did not respond to me. We arrived at the appointed time and place and waited an extra 15 minutes for Paul who was a no show. Fortunately we were able to participate in a free walking tour of the old town so all was not lost. Bottom line - do not chose Paul as your guide for any upcoming tours. No show Paul

Anna was an outstanding guide on our 5-hour full coverage tour of Tallinn. She demonstrated deep knowledge of the city's history and culture, delivered with enthusiasm and passion. The tour covered all major landmarks, including the Old Town, Toompea Hill, and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Anna also included intriguing lesser-known spots, adding a unique touch. Her ability to engage with the group and address individual interests made the tour especially enjoyable and informative. Highly recommended! We had a very nice tour in Tallinn!

I like to use with locals as when you select a tour you have a chance to select your guide based on their profile and reviews. I like to pick locals and specifically picked Paul for that reason. He confirmed our booking Jan 5 for a tour May 31. When I reached out May 30 to say we were looking forward to meeting him the next day he informed me that he was busy and had passed us to another guide. We met with Peter who is an American who now lives in Estonia and while he was good he is not a guide I would pick as not a true local. We actually ran into Paul and Peter tried to introduce us but Paul basically brushed us off as he was busy with a food tour for at least 10 people. A much more lucrative tour I’m sure. Not impressed. So if you pick local Paul you may or may not end up with him depending on whether a more lucrative offer comes up.Talinn with an expat

The private walking tour was great and I would definitely recommend! Paul had a lot of historical and cultural information to share and showed us all the main sights of Tallin. We had only a few hours in Tallin and this tour helped us maximise our time there - we learnt and saw a lot in a short period of time. Paul was also really flexible. He met us at the ferry terminal and started the tour at a different point (which would normally not be a part of the tour). He also stayed with us for a longer period of time in order to show us all the main sights of the city. All in all a really nice experience which I would definitely recommend. If you read this Paul -Thanks again! Tallin walking tour with Paul

We really didn't know much about Talinn or Estonia and therefore didn't have any expectations. We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty and history of this city, expertly delivered by Paul. We thoroughly enjoyed the food we tried!! My only suggestion is too communicate the meeting point in detail. We waited in an area that was wrong for several minutes. Paul made it special!
