Susanne is a very warm and engaging person, with an enormous amount of knowledge on Vienna due to her historian background. She is a wonderful storyteller, bringing to life snippets of interesting information about the places we visited. When we experienced a delay at one of the cafes we visited Susanne kept us entertained with more stories. Ultimately we ended up moving to another cafe due to the delay, but that was by no means any fault of Susanne's. We enjoyed our foodie tour. When our family arrived two minutes early to the designated meet up location, we immediately started looking for Sandy. We searched everywhere in the vicinity, with no luck. Sandy later claimed she had been there, but if true, she didn’t look for us (a family of 4, obviously searching for someone). I texted 10 minutes after the meeting time and got no reply until about 20 minutes later, when she said she was already home and couldn’t get back for another 20 minutes. We’d waited in the cold for over 45 minutes at that point. This was wildly frustrating and disappointing to me and my family. What a terrible way to start our visit to Vienna, and totally surprising given the great experience we had with this company in Greece just a few years earlier.No show

Met Sandy by the golden bear and straight away we both knew we were with a local, she was just a lovely bright woman with a passion for her city Vienna. She holds your interest in the way she is, and had a rare and interesting historical knowledge of her city but can go back and go to the present day in a way only someone like her can. She took us first for the genuine Austrian sandwiches where only Viennese were they were delicious and delicate and the baby beer balanced them beautifully. She is easy to talk to and interested in the world so you feel like you have met a new friend. The next stop was to enjoy Pumkin soup and platter of local Viennese cured meats, cheeses and delicious breads, matched with a local Danube Austrian Sauvignon I can still taste this now just sumptuous. She chats and walks and gives you great tips and then we arrive at a lovely Viennese coffee house for 3 sweet delicacies we barely have room but cannot resist and have to say the Strudel won. Thanks Sandy this 3 hours spent with you was memorable and we cannot thank you enough, good luck in all that you do in the future and big thanks from your 2 UK girls❤️Sandy shows us her Vienna

We went on a food tour through Vienna in October with Sandy, and it was an unforgettable experience! Sandy was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the city's food scene, but she was also warm and personable. It felt like we were eating with a friend who just happened to know all the best spots in Vienna. When it unexpectedly started to rain, Sandy quickly adapted her plan, ensuring we stayed dry while still enjoying all the delicious stops on the tour. We sampled local favorites like goulash, wiener schnitzel, various desserts, and a selection of finger sandwiches. But the highlight was when Sandy went above and beyond by ordering a unique twist on the famous sacher torte—served as a layered mousse in a glass instead of the traditional cake! It was an unexpected treat that made the tour feel even more special. Sandy also provided us with great restaurant recommendations for the rest of our stay, and her passion for Vienna's food culture really shone through. Susanne taught us a lot about the history of Vienna, and we were happy to learn. But this was to be a food tour. She introduced us to some wonderful new-to-us foods. We would have preferred to learn more about the history of food or its cultural place in Vienna. We started and ended with sweets, which was a lot, and ran out of time before we could have wine. The day may have been wet and dreary, but Susanne shared with us some of the most interesting tastes of Vienna. Along with a telling of a bit of the cities history, we enjoyed coffee and pastries, different meats, and other local fare. The rain did not dull the experience. We made a booking for 11.30 that was accepted and then changed the next day to 10.00 …. So we had to change our itinerary to fit this in, and I am not sure why the booking offered that time then. When booking, a further 50 euro service fee was added without any prior notice or explanation. The tour was the ten tastings of Vienna, which included a chocolate from Mammer where a packet of wafers was bought in the shop in the queue (when it could easily have been purchased earlier at an organisational level. Also we had one slab of wafer out of a pack of four that was bought) When then had coffee (at a wonderful art deco coffee house) and shared 3 strudels between four of us. We had the polish sandwiches which was fun, and then the sausage tasting and the wine were both on the square which we felt was very touristy in that space. Only last week, we had done a food tour in Prague …. They had sent a digital booklet of recommendations for eating and drinking and shopping and itineraries for Prague beforehand and after the tour followed up with specific information from the time of the tour and recipes and more. In a similar 3 hour period, we had a sit down beer hall experience with a beer and with 4 types of snack food, we then had a street food burger, then a sit down meal of 2 main course flavours and a glass of wine, then coffee and 2 sweet cake serves each and a third chocolate one to share between 2 of us and finally a cocktail bar and an alcoholic drink. This was all managed and pre arranged at the venues for a group of 12 and ran smoothly. I was so excited to be doing a similar adventure in Vienna (a little more expensive but that was okay in the anticipation). We were all extremely disappointed and trying not to let the experience cloud our perspective of Vienna.Not really happy

We really enjoyed our tour with Sandy. She was in touch with us before, during and after the tour. Sandy listened to our interests and based our tour around our wishes. The tour started with tasty Viennese sandwiches and a refreshing little beer. Then a walking tour with points of interest and history about Vienna. Our next stop was at a wine bar. It included both wine and a wide assortment of traditional Austrian foods (sausages, cheeses, tart flammkuchen, goulash). The last stop was at a genuine, classic konditorei. As long as you know that this isn't the typical food tour where you visit 4 or 5 restaurants with a group, then you'll make the most of this tour With Locals. Sandy communicated with us prior to our engagement to ensure we'd know where to meet her. We walked to the restaurant for dinner - it was nice - then to another restaurant for dessert - which was livelier and had more ambiance. We had a great time with Susanne, our informative host! She was friendly and accommodating. Food tasting selections were just ok. The title of 10 tastings was a little deceiving as we thought we would have heartier Austrian dishes like cheeses, goulash and schnitzel to try rather than a piece of chocolate and wafer although the meat loaf was delicious and there was a good amount of beer! We would have given it 10 stars if there were better food choices.Fun evening with our host!

For our trip to Vienna, we wanted to see the city, as well as enjoy some local delicacies/typical food. We looked at the ten tastings tour and Lisa Maria immediately jumped out to be our host of choice. She sparked from enthusiasm and joy and knew Vienna as thorough as expected. We even travelled via the subway to enjoy different tastings in different parts of the city. Also, don't expect you will need dinner after the tour; the tastings are plentiful enough to saturate your hunger! Apart from the tour itself, Lisa Maria was very helpful in giving suggestions for spots to do later on our trip (in our case, where locals go for a swim and a local vineyard). I would recommend Sandy in a heartbeat! I booked the tour while I was still back home in Canada and Sandy was super easy to communicate with through the With Locals website. I had only an evening layover in Vienna. Sandy picked me up from the airport and tailored a late night tour to accommodate my short time frame. Sandy also graciously accommodated my last minute request to invite two friends who had decided on short notice to fly from the UK to meet me in Vienna.
