Our private food tour with Mydie was wonderful. She is personable and fun, and we felt like we were with an old friend. Walking around the city and going to several different food places on both the North and South sides of Dublin, was very interesting. We got to sample meat pies and cider, fish and chips, some very yummy fudge and chocolates and of course, to top it all off, delicious ice cream. It was a great day and we hated for it to end. This is extremely disappointing as I reserved this food walking tour in April and I arrived this morning in Ireland for the first time looking forward to this experience. Had I known this was a scam, I would have booked something through TripAdvisor but was hoping to support local. What a horrible let down. Waited for over 45 mins for an individual that never showed up and never communicated any alternatives. So far this company has been has been inattentive with regards to any follow through with a refund or explanation. What a scam and a horrible first day experience in Ireland.

There are two sides to this story. First, Mydie was a delight! As you will read below, she made this tour happen for us and we are grateful. She was knowledgeable about the general history of the country, that tied beautifully to the stories about the food. She made it feel like we were sharing food among friends. The first thing we look for when we travel is taking a food tour….highly recommend! We were very excited to add Dublin to our list. Booking months in advance, we were very disappointed that the tour was cancelled a few days in prior with no explanation. We had planned a lot of the trip around this. I went back to the website to see if anyone else was available. They were not. I decided to reach out directly to Mydie. She sowed she was available an hour earlier than our preferred time, but not our time. Being this was our arrival day, I did not have the flexibility to start earlier. She immediately responded to me and said she could make it happen! I was hesitant to try again, but we are so grateful we did. The experience with the tour company was bumpy, but Mydie (who had nothing to do with the scheduling issue) came through with a wonderful tour!

Mydie met us promptly on schedule and took my wife and me on a most enjoyable 3 hour morning tour. She obviously loves Dublin and is knowledgeable about its history and folklore. She is also keen about the current political scene. We learned a lot.
Also, she chose a quiet cafe for a break which we liked and recommended a nice restaurant for lunch.

Ben was our guide on a 3-hour “Highlights & Hidden Gems of Dublin” tour. Our group of 6 had varying interests and we went over the allotted time. Ben was gracious and patient and answered all our questions and never made us feel rushed.
Ben has a unique point of differentiation as a guide. After the tour, he sent us digital “souvenirs” of our time together. We received: (1) music video map, (2) fun video, and (3) picture album. Throughout the tour, at each of the stops, Ben took photos of the group. Afterwards, he compiled these pictures into 2 videos and a photo album. I received the “souvenirs” the same day as the tour. The pictures and the videos are AWESOME and they are a wonderful and fun way to remember the trip.
We learned so much about Dublin from Ben on subjects such as potato crisps (also received samples of Taytos to try), and politics, and architecture, and spicy local characters.
It was a great tour and our entire group gives it (and Ben) two thumbs-up.
