It would be great if Yván invested in a couple of newer bikes that had seats that could adjust to a person’s height. He could charge a little more and the ride would be more comfortable. Also, it would be nice to visit a place - either the market or a museum in the area. It would break up the biking and I believe that tourists would like to visit indoors and get a tour, especially if they are spending the time to travel down to this neighborhood. Nice way to explore Coyoacán

Mariel is a wonderful and sweet person! She really cares about her guests. Our issues with the tour were below: The bicycles: I am 6'2" tall. These bikes are very small, and it was VERY uncomfortable, the entire time. If you are 6 feet or more, it is not easy to ride these. The route: 70% of our tour was riding through residential neighborhoods or uneventful streets. We would ride for 10-20 minutes, and then stop at a place. Then repeat. The route was not really beautiful. The stops: We stopped at 3 churches that had historical significance, but we could not enter 2 of them (closed). We stopped at the House of Frida, but the line was an hour long, so we couldn't enter during the tour. We stopped at an outside movie theater, which was cool - but it was all the way up Guatamoc drive, way out of the way, and not really worth such a long bike ride, to see an empty outside movie theater, at 1pm. Overall, we left feeling underwhelmed by the tour itself. I just felt like we rode (uncomfortable) bikes, for ~2 hours, and stopped at some uninteresting and/or closed places. On a positive note, we did get to see Coyoacan center, which was really cool, and we got a feel for the area. I hate to write a bad review, because Mariel is a wonderful person, and very sweet! But the route itself could be improved, in my opinon. Good, not great

Amazing experience. I was lucky to have the tour on such a beautiful sunny day. Mariel was a wealth of knowledge. Alaya communicated several times with me before our trip to Mexico and was very detailed in describing our meeting place. She is charming and a fun person to be with. She was able to tell us about the history and the many streets we walked on, including the park through which we walked. She was sure to take us through the market and pointed out good ice cream. At our stopping point, she directed us to La Casa Azul, only 2 blocks away. Mariel's tour of the centro historico was very fun and we'd do it again. She had interesting insights and several places that were off the beaten track (much of the centro is well-traveled). She was full of information and positive energy. We would have gladly paid the entry fee to get fully inside some of the places we visited but didn't enter. E.g., the post office building (which now charges an entry fee) or the Bella Artes murals (we just got into the lobby). And it would have been good to have a bit more time to look around the Zocalo (which might have been accomplished by walking and talking rather than sitting and talking). Mariel's a lovely person and deserves the solid accolades. Mariel is Terrific

This is my review: We went on a tour led by Mariel. She was an extremely knowledgeable and personable guide. She provided excellent descriptions of the history of the different peoples who occupied the areas around Mexico City and interesting information about how Mexico City restoration evolved. I liked that her descriptions were easy to understand but not overly basic. We had lots of questions, and Mariel always had highly informative and interesting answers. We would not have learned or appreciated as much Mexican history without having Mariel as a guide, so I am very glad we took this tour. We loved learning more about Coyoacan: the culture, the people, the traditions, the coffee and ice cream, and the history. Since we had already been to the Frida Museum, we wanted to dig deeper, and Alaya provided a hands-on walking tour. We learned so many "local" tidbits about the area that you don't often read in a guidebook. Put on your walking shoes because the best way to see the area is by walking through it. We were even "blessed" in one of the parks and saw so many families and couples eating, dancing, eating, listening to music, and enjoying life. Alaya brought it alive for us by telling us the back stories, and showing us where to get away from the hubbub of one of the largest cities in the world! Al gave us a great walking tour of Centro Historico, with lots of fascinating historical and cultural insights. It was just my wife and I on the tour, so we were able to go at our own pace and felt free to ask questions. He even guided us on the bus to direct us to one of his favourite restaurants, then provided directions for us to safely walk home. Oh, and he gave us a list of restaurants to check out. We explored the city centre on a walking tour with Al, and it was 1000% worth it. He took us to spots we wouldn’t have found on our own and explained the history and architecture, which was super interesting, answered lots of other questions about what to do and eat in Mexico City, and he was very happy to keep whatever pace we were comfortable with. We enjoyed meeting Al and learning so much about the foundation of Tenochtitlán - today`s Zocalo - and the historic events over centuries, which are to be seen in today`s relicts, monuments and churches. Al is experienced and has a lot of knowledge. So, he could show us the most important sights in a relatively short time, he had even reserved a museum entrance for us and could easily answer all our questions. Apart from the informative part, we also spent some time taking a snack in the nice restaurant of Casa de los Azulejos, which offers a very special atmosphere. Al took us to the main attractions in the Centro Historico and gave us a brief overview of their historical and cultural significance. He had a real knowledge of the subject matter and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with us. In addition to the main attractions, he showed us some hidden gems. He was personable and helpful.
