My husband, two teens, and I had a day and a half in Venice and wanted to soak in the city in a small amount of time. Romy was an excellent tour guide! Romy was extremely kind and patient with our inexperience. We had never been to Venice and we were arriving by car so we didn't really know how to get into the city proper and she came and met us despite it being around half an hour away from our original meeting spot. She was patient and kind with my children and was very flexible with modifying the tour based on our unexpected needs. Also, she was like an encyclopedia of Venice. My family and I had the pleasure of a 4 hour walking tour of Venice with Romy and I wouldn't hesitate to strongly recommend her to anyone who is looking to gain a little knowledge of the city. This is knowledge you can't get elsewhere, it has to come from a person who is born and raised in the city and has spent time getting educated in the cities history. Venice has so much history that you can't grasp it without someone like Romy who loves where she lives and her job. Romy is a really pleasure to work with. From the initial discussions about what my family and I would like to get out of our tour to the booking and just general information about Venice that I requested. I have taken a lot of tours with guides in various countries as we find that it is the best way to get to know a little about the place you are visiting and having a local person show you the sites can't be beaten. We originally had this tour scheduled with Alvise, but he had to cancel due to wisdom teeth removal. He talked to Romy and she had a day off that day but she did the tour even though she was scheduled to not work. It was a simply wonderful tour. She took us to Murano. She had a very nice water taxi booked for us. We got to see them make pieces privately. We then took the water taxi to St Marks Square to visit Doge's Palace and the Basilica. She was so informative and absolutely told us so much information that I would have never know. She definitely has a passion for Venice. She helped us get on the correct water taxi and didn't leave until she was sure we were on the right bus. All in all, the tour was absolutely everything we wanted and more. She went above and beyond to make our short stay in Venice enjoyable but also provide us with the history of an amazing place. Romy is the best. Romy showed us all of Venice, can’t imagine we did not touch on everything. We customized our booking because we had 2 days and wanted to go to Murano and Burano. Romy was quick to respond and provide us with a quote for 2 days. She spent 7 1/2 hours with us, each day. Day 1 we saw Venice and Romy took us down side streets and little unknown places to tourists. Gave us recommendations and where to get authentic Venician masks, showed us some magnificent churches, explained about the history and architecture. We walked everywhere. Romy surprised us with a terrace view of the city which was beyond breathtaking. It was a very pleasant surprise and gave a different perspective to Venice. At the end of day one she showed us exactly where we could get an authentic private gondola ride and explained what we wanted to the driver. Additionally she also gave us a dinner recommendation and called for a reservation for us at a traditional Italian place. Place was off the beaten path and really good. Obviously place locals go to as there was a constant stream of traffic. Day 2 we went to Murano and Burano and then saw the rest of Venice including the Jewish Ghetto. Both days were great. Weather was extremely hot but Romy did her best to keep us engaged and moving forward. Our Apple Watches registered 20 thousand steps each day with Romy so you can see we got around. Romy gave us a fantastic few hours in Venice. Seeing the architecture, understanding the history and visiting the Saint Mark's Basilica and Doge's Palace. taking advantage of the fast pass during the lighting of the Basilica would have been something I would have never known about. It was our first time in Venice and Romy showed us the best experience. It was raining all day when we visited but having a tour guide definitely made the experience better and memorable. We met Romy in the heart of Venice, it was a very wet day and right off the bat We could tell how organized Romy was as she was holding a sign with my name on it and she was right at the location she said for us to meet. We knew it was going to be a wet day but she said that she will still show us everything and we made the most out of it for sure. Romy lives in Venezia and she literally knows everything about the city. Her English was perfect and she took the time to take us through all the city and explained everything in detail. We had a 9 year old boy and she went out of her way to make his experience fun throughout the 5 hours that we had her booked. We also wanted to try good Venezia food and she took us to some of her local favourites and it was amazing. Every museum we went to was already paid for and she had tickets for us to skip the lines. She paid for all the food during the tour and then I paid her at the end. If you go to Venice please make sure to book with Romy!!! You will not be disappointed. Romy is a first class tour guide and since it was our first visit and first day she went out of her way to meet at our hotel which was some way out from the normal starting point for the tour. She could not have been more informative and with her local knowledge we found her enthusiasm for her home city truly enthralling. We both thoroughly enjoyed our two tours and had such a wonderful 5 hours in her company. She pointed out many interesting features that we would never had noticed ourselves and we will definitely be booking her when we are lucky enough to visit again. We asked about restaurants and she recommended a couple near our hotel and one just off St Mark's Square. She definitely helped make our visit a truly memorable one. Romy is a credit to Venice!
