We had a fantastic time on our tour with Julio. He is very friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. He gave us a great overview of the city, an we learned a lot about history. He pointed out many hidden gems in the city that we would otherwise not have noticed had we only used a book as our guide. We were a group of 8 who were interested in learning about the Spanish Civil War. We spent 3 hours with Beatriz on a lovely, sunny afternoon in Ciudad Universitaria. We all agreed she was the perfect guide for us. She was knowledgeable, charming and just so pleasant to be with. Beatriz did a great job of explaining the highlights of Spain and Madrid's history by taking us on an interesting walk through the streets of Madrid. We knew very little about Spain and her descriptions and stories really helped us understand. She is a history teacher and we learned a lot from her. Majo provided us with a great tour of the Prado! She conducted a tour that was chronological in order of the art, deftly moving us from gallery to gallery all over the museum. Her Art History knowledge and pointing out nuances and highlights of individual pieces provided us with a fascinating perspective on many famous Spanish artists, as well as life during those centuries. I can’t imagine learning about Madrid any other way. In contrast to the densely-packed tour groups, this was a personal stroll with an expert on Madrid and Spanish history. It was as if we were meeting a life-long friend showing us around a city she justifiably loves. We felt privileged to learn about and visit the most important facts and sites as well as the lesser known.
