If you want to have a great time with a tour-guide who knows Mumbai very well. Don’t hesitate any longer and send Shrikanth a message. I had some questions and wanted to add something to the Temple tour and that was no problem. The day before the tour I arrived in Mumbai and he even gave me tips for a restaurant or if I had any questions I could text him. For a woman traveling on her own it is recommended to get a tourguide for a careless experience. Even tho Mumbai is safe, it was nice not to worry about wich train or taxi to get where to pay for what and looking for directions. I could really enjoy Mumbai and the temples, and just follow Shrikanth around. We went to different Temples, and at the Mahalaxmi Temple I did an offer with flowers etc. Shrikanth explained about the god’s and what they stand for. I also brought my photo-camera and we took some cool pictures, as he is a photographer as well. We also went to eat some Gola at the beach and did some shopping. He answered all the questions I had about Mumbai and India, and even gave me recommendations for my next traveling destinations. Shrikanth took extremely well care of my cousin and I. He was very knowledgeable about temples, religion and traditions so he was very interesting to listen to. He helped us through the queues and held our bags during our visits to the core of the temples. He took photos of us and as he is a photographer they all turned out great! We spent the day with Shrikanth and it was a very special experience of Mumbai but also in connecting with Shrikanth. Our day together was very personalized based on our interests and our request for Shrikanth to show us his hidden Mumbai, though we had a list of tourist attractions from the internet, we only actually saw one of them- The Gate of India/Taj Hotel. This was perfect because Shrikanth chose to expose us to unique, non-tourist attractions and experiences. We walked neighborhoods of Colonial "mansions", we rode the local train - hanging out the doorways as we trundled through the city, we visited the largest and oldest outdoor laundry in India, the Ghandi House museum - fascinating, the flagship store of the top haute couture fashion label in India - the Christian Church that marks the Zero distances for all of India mileage markers, an local Indian brew pub - it was very hot out!, a very old and famous ice cream stand, a walk along the Art Deco architecture of Marine Drive.... and so much more. Shrikanth, is a street photographer so we were shown the fascinating, raw and gritty, images of the real Mumbai through his lens. Shrikanth is knowledgeable and fun to be with. We had a really enjoyable and informative time on our tour with Srikanth. Beforehand we were somewhat apprehensive about taking a slum tour, but Srikanth soon put us at ease and we never felt uncomfortable, imposing or unsafe at any time, maintaining a tone of respect and dignity for the residents at all times. He took great time to explain the many fascinating aspects of daily life in the slums, all the amazing commercial activities in a never to be forgotten experience. We also loved gifting the pens and pencils (that we brought with us) at the school to the young children. We had the best time with Gautam on the Street Food Experience! So much food, lots of sights and all guided by Guatam’s knowledge, passion and experience. We had the most amazing food tour with Gautam! From gosa to lassi and everything in between! Gautam met us close to our hotel & after our first gastronomic treat we took a local train (what an experience - we would never have done it ourselves!). We didn’t see a single westerner for the whole of our tour, which took us through the flower market, past the pigeon house, down alleys, across streets, with so much to look at and taste. We loved every minute & every mouthful!What an amazing day!

We went to local eateries which I would never have found by myself…the lassi was particularly good in that it was very thick and eaten with a spoon. The vegetarian Bombay burger was also very good, as well as other delicious morsels..In fact I couldn’t eat any more. The tour was excellent, taking in local landmarks of where we’re staying, explaining the history of the area, but also discussing the culture and real life of greater Mumbai. It was great to have an opportunity to travel on the trains, to chat about India and the world at a juice stall, and have great places recommended for later in the stay (we tried Bademiya rolls!
