Hana is an extraordinary individual with a passion for history and a deep understanding of her beloved Prague but also of the larger world. Although our focus was on WWII and the assassination of the chief Nazi occupier (Heydrich), Hana combined information and visits to hidden gardens, ancient sites and beautiful buildings as we roamed around well beyond the scheduled time. Her English (one of her several languages) is very good…although her massive knowledge sometimes comes out at a pace which matches her boundless enthusiasm! Hana is careful to distinguish between fact and opinion but her life experience provides context and credibility to her opinions. Her extraordinary international experience in her professional life would make her an engaging companion outside of any tour. Her outgoing personality, extraordinary gift of recalling detail and her obvious passion make for a wonderful, intellectually challenging tour. Notwithstanding having visited Prague previously, we experienced entirely new insights because of Hana. We had the most fantastic tour of WW II Prague with Ivana. She was incredibly knowledgeable and accomodating. First we toured the Orthodox Cathedral where the Czech paratroopers hid following the assassination of Heydrich. Ivana explained things very clearly and added to our understanding of the subject. After a couple more stops, we visited the Gestapo museum which Ivana had booked for us. I must say this was an incredibly emotional and humbling tour. Although it is fair to say the Czech's haven't made as much of this tourist location as they might have done, it really is well worth a visit with a good guide. Ivana certainly was that and was on hand to share her exceptional knowledge of what took place in the building, it was quite a humbling experience to imagine what went on there. Her knowledge of the history of the period is hard to surpass as she explained how the Czech Republic/ Czechoslovakia had been carved up in 1938 and again in the post WWII period. She had some great anecdotes and some powerful personal stories. She was a very kind and generous host. Brilliant tour of WWII Prague

My family and I had an outstanding experience with Hana! We signed up for The History of Prague: WWII & Heydrich tour and were incredibly impressed by Hana's extensive knowledge, reflections on her lived experience in Czechia and the connection to WWII, and her ability to answer our questions brilliantly. Though the tour was focused on WWII, she also spent time discussing other time periods as well and was extremely informed about thousands (!) of years of history. As a person, Hana was kind, enthusiastic, energetic, and a joy to be around. The tour was intended to be about 2.5 hours, but Hana wound up spending extra time with us and adjusted the tour to suit our needs (including a lovely stop at an amazing pastry shop!). I only wish we had more time to spend in Prague, as we most certainly would have booked another tour with Hana. It was truly an outstanding experience and we are grateful to Hana for the gift of her time and talent! We were a group of five, in our 60s. We met up with Ivana at the Dancing House, and spent 2 1/2 hours making our way towards and beyond Wenceslas Square. The focus of the trip was the story of the assassination of Heydrich in 1942, and we visited the church where the assassins hid and were finally killed, where there is an interesting museum. Ivana was immensely knowledgeable about this, and the history of Prague in the War. Although her English was good, her delivery style and pronunciation demanded quite a high degree of concentration from her clients. Nevertheless, if this is a subject which is of interest to you, this is a worthwhile trip to take. Prague in World War 2

Hana gave us a marvellous tour - highlighting one of the darker parts of Pragues' history - the Nazi Occupation. She effortlessly mingled some of the truly harsh stories of terror and betrayal perpetrated by the Nazi's with the acts of heroism and bravery of the Czech people to free their country from the scourge of the invaders. Along the trip Hana highlighted some of the lesser know points of interest - including the roots of Protestantism, and some examples of modern art tucked away beautifully in Prague's lovely squares. She found out it was my birthday weekend, and took us to a quiet, quaint, and cool spot for a beer, glass of wine, and a local cookie! Hana made us so comfortable, it was like spending the afternoon with our sister. She was a delight!!!Hana made us so comfortable

We met Ivana on a cold, drizzly and windy Prague day. She arrived at the meeting point very promptly and we were then taken to the former Gestapo Headquarters where she clearly explained all the story boards (written in Czech). It was so obvious Ivana is a keen student of events that happened 77+ years ago and had us spellbound with the stories she had. I had read Laurent Binet's excellent novel HHhH and she was able to add even more detail to this tragic tale. Suggest you first read the book and/or see the movie "The Man with the Iron Heart" about Reinhard Heydrich - the so called Butcher of Prague. Our time flew by and we would have to sit and chat to Ivana over a hot coffee but she had another appointment. My wife wasn't as interested in the tour as I was - however she really enjoyed the content and experience of being present where history had taken place. Hana met our small group with a smile and was not only extremely personable, but was very knowledgeable about the city. We covered great historical points from across multiple periods and linked in cultural aspects as well. We did the Heydrich and WW2 tour with Ivana in December 2018. Ivana was a fantastic guide providing such an informative and insightful tour that we came away with a much better understanding of Prague's history, not just through the war but also afterwards through the Communist era. The highlight of the tour was the "behind the scenes" visit to the former Gestapo headquarters which is not usually available to foreign tourists.
