I organised this tour for 2 for my partner's birthday. I chose Vesna based on previous reviews. Vesna not only gave a superb tour, but was able to answer our many questions about what we were seeing and history of recent happenings in history. I asked Vesna to direct us to a bakery but she surpassed this by taking us to an excellent restaurant for bubbles and choice and cake. Karmen was a truly fabulous guide for our family of 4, my husband and me, and a daughter aged 19 and son age 15. As we know, with the ubiquity of smartphones in teenager's lives, their attention span is short. Karmen managed to keep their interest the whole time. She is a native to Dubrovnik and knows both the historical and the more recent history of the area equally well. She even threw in some fun Game of Thrones sites, complete with stills from the show to compare with the actual area in real life. She made things relevant but kept it fun. Loved seeing the hidden gems too! Please keep in mind that it is HOT in the summer, so book tours early or much later in the day. Karmen was a GREAT guide!Perfect intro to a beautiful city!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 Experience We absolutely loved our Drinks & Bites in Dubrovnik tour with Karmen! From start to finish, she made the experience feel personal, relaxed, and truly unforgettable. The food was incredible—we tried traditional Croatian dishes like šporki makaruli and crni rižot (black risotto), along with anchovies and so many other delicious bites. The local wine she recommended was out of this world—easily one of the best we had on our entire trip. This tour was the perfect way to kick off our time in Dubrovnik. We booked this for our first night in Dubrovnik to help familiarize ourselves with Old Town more quickly. Ramona was punctual and knowledgeable. She took us to three different places where we tried local bites and drinks. Over our next days in the city we revisted one of the restaurants and relied on much of the info she shared with us. Restricting my review to just Dubrovnik is too limiting -- we just toured the Old Town and City Walls of Dubrovnik and it was magical! Karmen does an amazing job of showing the entire city, highlighting the deep and fascinating history and even weaving in the obligatory Game of Thrones stops in a great 2 hour tour. She's smart, engaging and helpful and the best guide I've had in any of my world travels! I would rate 100 out of 10 if I was allowed!BEST GUIDE IN THE WORLD!!!!

Karmen led our family on a 1.5 hour walking tour through the Old Town Dubrovnik. We have 3 young kids (10 year old twins and a 6 year old very energetic kiddo!) and she kept them engaged and happily answered their MANY questions!!! She was full of fun details about the city’s history and gave the adults fun facts about where Game of Thrones was filmed. She paid special attention to the hot weather, finding shade everywhere we stopped. Her recommendations for ice cream and pizza were on point!! This was my family's first time visiting Croatia and first time using WithLocals. We had a wonderful experience with Karmen who provided great insights of Old Town, living in Dubrovnik, and interesting stories of the history of the city. It was quite warm outside, but Karmen sought out shade whenever she had a story to share. When scheduling the tour, Karmen was quick in her responses and even provided us some wonderful recommendations. We booked a 90 minute session, which was the perfect time to cover the history of the city, but also provide us with her own insights. The time with Karmen felt like a friend was guiding you around their city. I would recommend booking this tour on one of your first days, as Karmen provides many good recommendations. Also, don't eat gelato or drink coffee beforehand, Karmen will make a stop during the tour :) My family, 4 english-speaking adults, would highly recommend this tour experience. I am nearing 80 years old and my daughter, although in her early fifties has physical limitations. We had no issues with the energy needed to go on this tour with Vlaho. We had spent the previous day wandering the streets of Old Town Dubrovnik. I had visited Dubrovnik in 1987, before the breakup of Yugoslavia. Both of us enjoyed the Old Town, but it was our time with Vlaho that gave us an understanding of the circumstances of the dissolution of Yugoslavia and the enmity that resulted that shaped the Dubrovnik of today. Because my husband and I had visited Dubrovnik so recently we were shocked at the time that this World Heritage Site was subjected to bombings in 1991-1992. The tour with Vlaho gave the historical background as well as the details of the war that have shaped the Dubrovnik of today. Vlaho was an excellent history teacher in a short amount of time and having been a defender of Dubrovnik in the war, gave us a good understanding of what the people of Dubrovnik went through. When you wander the town you do not see much evidence of the war. The holes from the bombardments have been filled, but the town, still beautiful, is changed forever. The War Museum and the cable car ride up to it were an added element to the tour. We both valued our time with Vlaho who gave us an in depth view of Dubrovnik. Not to be missed.

Vlaho is a lovely and deeply knowledgeable tour guide. We could not have asked for a better guide for our time in Dubrovnik. We wanted a historical tour of Dubrovnik, that would help us understand the complex background of the city and broader region. We wanted to have this basis so that we could better comprehend the war in the 90's, and the significant damage to both the people and the UNESCO heritage site. Vlaho helped us understand the deep and ancient history of the region, the complexities of the politics over time, Dubrovnik's unique place in that history, and the spirit of the people. Without this, I don't think we could have understood the developments of the war. We especially enjoyed the ride up the cable car to the museum. As a man with a family, who lived through the events, he generously shared personal experiences that brought what I'd seen in news reports to life. He is also highly knowledgeable about other areas and topics, so I'm sure you could arrange something tailored to your preferences with either himself or his skilled team.
