I had an amazing time with Maria. I booked the course and show just for myself and had seen a Flamenco Show in Granada before. So when sharing her knowledge of Flamenco with me in the beginning, I had so many questions, Maria was patiently answering. After coffee we went to a dance studio and in her very enthusiastic and charming way, Maria taught me some Flamenco moves. With her very lovely and kind way; she made me feel very comfortable, altough I am not usually into dancing or very talented in it. But it was so much fun and I could have probably spend the rest of the night with her at the Studio practicing! After, we went to see the Flamenco Show, which was absolutely fantastic and Maria explained interesting facts about the artists and show. We finished the night with a lovely dinner at a local tapas place. Thank you so much Maria! I had the best time and I do see the art of Flamenco with different eyes now! We then went to her studio where she showed us the basic techniques of flamingo and how the dancer, singer, and guitarist communicate with each other. We then had front row seats to watch the show. What a great night with Maria! First, we met at a cafe and she told us about the history of Seville and of flamenco. Then we went to her studio and had our dance lesson, where we learned more about how the dance is sort-of an improvised conversation between the dancers, singer, and guitarist. After that, we went out for tapas and finally, we went to see Maria and her friends dance! I was so happy that we had the experience of learning the history and then the actual experience of the dance so that I understood it as we watched. Maria is a great teacher and a lot of fun!

We had the best time with Maria. She is Flamenco personified. Maria started by giving the background and history of Flamenco, which helped us better understand and appreciate her dance lesson and the performance she took us to. The show was spectacular. We were fortunate to see Maria performing that night and she danced with another very famous dancer, accompanied by beautiful music from the singer and guitarist. We finished the evening by having dinner at a very old, classic Spanish restaurant. It was such a wonderful experience and we feel very fortunate to have found this tour with Maria. I'm getting older, I have traveled fairly extensively, I'm American, and so I can be critical. Our night with Maria was wonderful. It was my birthday and I wanted to book something special. As I looked at my booking the day of I thought, Oh gosh, what have I booked? I knew nothing about flamenco and I have booked dance lessons! The three in our group met Maria at an outside cafe to have a chat. This chat provided the history of flamenco and the perfect way to not only ease any fears but actually create an interest in understanding more. We took a short walk to her studio and we learned to clap to flamenco music and dance a bit and we all loved it! You can't help not enjoy Maria. She's so authentic. We then hoped in a taxi to Triana. Maria took us out of her way to show us the historic ceramic area with comments along the way. Then a short walk to the venue where Maria magically transformed into a beautiful flamenco dress. The show is intense and you are inches from it. Maria and her colleagues are the real deal, and travel the world performing flamenco. We all loved the experience. It was a very memorable evening. Maria was not available for our tour, so we actually had Eva. Eva gave us fantastic lessons about the basic rhythms and moves that are used to compose the dance. An incredible night. Maria is engaging and really lovely to be with, the evening was so much fun. She told us the story of flamenco over coffee and cake, then took us to her tapas restaurant for our lesson. She's a great teacher! We then had a delicious meal in her restaurant as other guests arrived for the show. The show was outstanding, its a small venue and the whole experience is very personal, very captivating and you absolutely feel the passion and history of the dance. This experience was truly unique. It was a special holiday here in Spain, so Maria had to adjust the plans. We met close to the Tablao, we went there to have the class, and after an introduction about what is Flamenco and its origins, we had the class on stage ! We had a great flamenco experience with Maria. She first explained to us the origin of the flamenco. Then, we went to her studio where she learned us the basic steps. That was so much fun!! After the workshop we went to Triana for some tapas and finally we went to a flamenco show with a flamenco performance of Maria. Maria is a great and very enthusiastic teacher. Every moment of our time with Maria was special! Over a coffee and cannoli, she told us the history of Flamenco. In her studio, we tried out some steps for ourselves. What an amazing night. Where to start? Maria is a very experienced flamenco dancer, she's deeply knowledgeable and passionate about her art. We first met for a coffee and a canneloni to get to know each other and Maria taught us about the rich history and cultural roots of flamenco. After learning some of the traditions and background of flamenco we walked to Marias studio to learn some moves for ourselves. I was quite nervous about this because I do have 2 left feet - but it was so much fun and Maria is such a good teacher, I quickly forgot any self concious feelings. Then we took a tailored trip around the ceramics block in Triana (which is good because I probably would have missed it without a guide) and then settled down to some delicious tapas and a glass of wine before continuing on to the flamenco show at her intimate and traditional venue. Maria had reserved a perfect table for us right next to the stage, so you could even feel the footwork of the performers as they danced. There was even more sangria and tapas, and, of course, breathtaking flamenco. Having learned the history, learning how the dances are constructed and how the performers communicate with each other through sound and movement really helped us understand and appreciate the performance, and without Maria we simply could not have enjoyed the flamenco as deeply and as intimately as we did. Book this tour. You'll never forget it. An unforgettable flamenco experience

We all really enjoyed the history of flamenco that Maria shared with us before our lesson and then seeing her performance. Being able to recognize rhythms and styles that she taught us were fun to see in the show! My recommendations for this, and other With Locals tours, are that there is an estimated cost breakdown along with the schedule. We also had to pay extra for taxis and we could have drove our own rental car which we had already paid for and parked. So communication about this would also be helpful. I did appreciate Maria’s flexibility in the schedule though as we did not correctly calculate the timing of everything and she accommodated this for us. History with dance

In a very nice and personal setting, Maria thought us all about the Flamenco dancing, history, passion. We were able to experience the essence and rhythm of the dance, tried a few steps ourselves and of course in the evening experienced the performance on the front row. Maria is a sweet soul who was exceptionally prepared to show us an authentic afternoon/evening of flamenco dance lessons, exceptional Triana tapas experiences, and an intimate family-like flamenco show to cap the evening. My wife hurt her feet a couple weeks prior, so we were entirely expecting the lesson portion to be just for me. Maria turned her lesson into chair flamenco dancing and it was absolutely brilliant. After one evening we consider her one of the family. This was our first experience with "With Locals." On our 28-day vacation through Spain and Portugal, we used 3 other companies for various activities. This evening was by far the best experience of them all. We can't recommend this experience nearly enough to do it justice.Beyond all expectations!

In Englisch, weil wir so mit Maria kommunizierten- sie ist aber mehrsprachig: When we met Maria we didn’t really know much about flamenco. Of course we knew the guitar music, flamenco costumes and flamenco dancing positions but nothing about history and the backgrounds of how dancers, singers and guitarplayers communicate and come together. In her studio we were told that rhythm is the groundline that structures a performance. It was a great experience to create a rhythm ourselves and so got into interaction with music. All the movements and positions look elegant and easy done on a wave of rhythm and sound. But it’s hard to learn and besides hard exercise it’s passion and love that brings out a good performance. Later in Marias small Tabalao we had the unforgettable chance to meet musicians that live the emotional and traditional spirit of Flamenco. Thank you. We have spent a week in Andalusia and 4 nights in Seville which included seeing the Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita in Cordoba and the Cathedral in Seville. All were interesting……but the top 2 by far were: 1. The flamenco experience with Maria, and 2. The Alcazar in Seville (we did a tour with Sevilla Walking Tours including the Game of Thrones extension. Both the buildings and the gardens were outstanding - you can see why they did not have to use any CGI when they filmed Dorne in Game of Thrones there). Even if you only have one day and one night in Seville you can do these 2 things. And don’t be daunted by the concept of flamenco lessons - knowing a little about the technique will just heighten your experience.The single best thing to do in Seville!

We spent a wonderful evening with our lovely host/teacher Maria. After explaining the origin and history of flamenco over a coffee, we had an introductory lesson, Maria was very patient and encouraging and at the end we understood some of the basics and had a lot of fun. We then were taken to try tapas which were all lovely. The finale of our evening was to be taken to a flamenco show where Maria performed in her intimate venue for around 30 people. The show was a completely different experience to one that we had seen in a larger venue. There was a guitarist, a singer and a guest dancer also whom were all excellent too. With the knowledge that Maria gave us we were able to understand the performance more which added to our enjoyment. Thank you Maria for a great evening. Fabulous flamenco experience!

How so fortunate that we had met Maria in our visit to Sevilla. Maria made us feel so welcomed, as in mi casa su casa, that it felt like a special evening out with an old family friend. Flamenco is to be experienced in none other than Sevilla. One of the guidebooks quipped that to attend an Flamenco show in north Spain is like going to a country music venue in Boston. Thus if you are in Sevilla and seeking Flamenco experience, you must hang with Maria. Maria was gracious to pick us up then fed us nonstop (paying for everything), patiently modeled and explained the dance movements, and the reasons for each, all in her flawless English. We were laughing and moving and had so much fun at her house/studio. Then Maria put on a mesmerizing show at her professional venue in Triana. Simply entrancing yet we were able to recognize her movements—somewhat, thanks to her earlier teaching. There were others who came just for the show but we felt more special...like seeing someone close dance. We talked about Maria and what she said, rest of the trip. When you do the math, the ROI is the tops with this tour. But Maria’s interaction makes you forget about the money and remember the connections we make as humans, diverse yet same in some way; expressing feelings through Flamenco. Loved the class, walk and subsequent flamenco show. Maria was an incredibly great facilitator, starting with the history of flamenco , then proceeding to teach us some steps and basics to understand how the dance and the song and the music are intertwined. The guided walk to the flamenco show was also great as she gave us some history as we entered the Triana neighborhood. The tapas bars also looked cool if we had chosen to do the tapas tastings as well, but since we did not have time we just went to see the show. the show in the small bar was amazing, it was great to have such an intimate experience and also to have Maria talk us through different songs and dances, including their origins and what inspired different moves. Juan was a guest dancer and he was also amazing. really great to have all four professional dancers and musicians there, just for us! thank you so much for sharing the passion and the soul, very memorable and touching!amazing experience

I was in Seville for just two days, and it was a hard decision whether to do such a long experience during my short stay. It was soo worth the time! I felt completely immersed in the town's spirit. Maria first made us feel that flamenco is not that hard to learn through a fun lesson... at the same time helping us appreciate the hard work and investment of the artists. The lesson was incredibly enlightening later on, during the very performance. The tour through Triana was full of genuine tales. Eventually, we were settled in a cosy tavern, and enjoyed the performance by Maria and other dedicated artists.
