Christa was extremely pleasant and personal. I particularly like the fact that she was able to pick us up right at the ship terminal and leave us off there. This driving feature was not available for many of your other Withlocals in addition to seeing Amsterdam we were interested in seeing part of the countryside the Netherlands itself and this can only be done in a car. In the city, we did a long walking tour and saw virtually every site and I found Christa quite knowledgeable and helpfulChrista in. Amsterdam

We booked a tour by car with Christa and had a wonderful time! She picked us up from out hotel promptly and took drove us to Zaanse Schans and Edam. She shared some history and interesting facts on the way, then showed us to her favourite spots once we arrived. Christa was friendly, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about local history - it was like talking to an old friend. Our time together ended too soon and I am sorry we had something booked later that afternoon, because she had wanted to take us to one more stop. Christa picked us up promptly at our hotel in her spotless clean and comfortable car. Soon after leaving the hotel parking lot, Christa began telling us historical facts about the city where we were staying. As she drove, she continued providing information about the farmland and villages we were driving through. We planned to go see the historic windmills in Zaanse Schanse. Christa is well informed of the history and survival of these beautiful working pieces of architecture and is very happy to share her knowledge. Additionally, she has a deep, fluent understanding of Dutch historical culture and the Dutch people. During our time with Christa, we found her to be thoughtful and compassionate, knowledgeable and articulate, having excellent English. We also enjoyed our time with her in a very fun and relaxed atmosphere. This is likely because Christa loves what she does and enjoys sharing her knowledge with others. We were heading back from Tanzania connecting through Amsterdam and had an 8 hour layover. We wondered about taking the trains ourselves and trying to explore ourselves. We contacted Christa last-minute and luckily she was able to respond quickly and after a bit of back and forth online chatting she created a tailored tour that included a visit to the Windmills in Zaanse Schans and then a quick tour of downtown Amsterdam. We realized that she showed us much more than we would been able to see just going around ourselves given the few hours we had. She drove us around and we had a quick bite and walking tour before we had to head back to the airport. Oh, and we went to sample some cheeses from one of the oldest cheese shops in Amsterdam. Christa is also an amazing pianist and got to enjoy some of her fine music during the drive. We only had a few hours and she definitely made the most of them. She is very enthusiastic about her city and made us want to think about a several day layover next time and we would be sure to try and schedule a longer tour with Christa if that happens. Me and my friend were looking for something to do in Amsterdam since we had an 8 hour layover. We contacted Christa to show us around, we didn't wanted to take the risk of getting lost and miss our flight back to Canada. Christa came to pick us up from the airport and we proceeded to go see the Windmills in Zaanse Schans, then back to Amsterdam to see different spot of the city. She took us to a pastry shop for some stroopwafel, local cheese vendor and different locations that she favor. To finish the tour we had lunch at a nice location where we could see the entire city. What I can say about Christa she was very honest about her knowledge of the city and she's very likable in that short time we were with her.Holland countryside by car

I requested a custom car tour from Christa based on her Fishing Village tour , and she was willing and able to devise a very enjoyable afternoon tour for me. I recently had surgery and am unable to do much walking. Christa did a quick tour of Amsterdam by car then took me out to the countryside. We even stopped for some Bitteballen and apple pie by the Muilden castle. Christa did everything she could to make the day fun and interesting. I would highly recommend her for tours. We got into Amsterdam in the morning and booked this walking tour last min for that afternoon. We are so glad we did! Christa was so knowledge about the city’s history and culture. She showed us all of the key spots and many off the beaten path, including great recommendations for museums and other sites. It was a great way to start out in a new city. We had a wonderful time discussing all things Amsterdam and beyond and ended with a tasty beverage. Christa was very responsive prior to the tour. Because we were arriving in Amsterdam late we could not do her standard tour. She organized a custom tour for us which could accommodate our schedule and it was amazing. She is delightful to spend time with and very knowledgeable about the city and the local food and establishments. We had a great tour and ate and drank some great things. On a Thursday morning about 8.45 am my husband incorrectly booked a three hour tour with a cheese tasting with Christa for 10am that morning. This booking was meant to be for Saturday at 10am. Just prior to 10 am, after a communication from Christa, the error was realised and it was requested that the tour be rescheduled for any time at her convenience over the weekend. In addition, we said that we recognised that her time had been wasted and were willing to reduce our tour to 1.5 hours or even less. She was unwilling to do this. The exchange was unpleasant. She was angry and felt the request was unreasonable as she would be potentially losing a 1.5 hour opportunity for another tour. My husband booked the tour with another guide and after that Christa contacted us to say that she was available for the Saturday tour. Because of the unpleasant exchange we decided not to go ahead with Christa on the Saturday. With Locals gave us a partial voucher towards the payment we made with Christa and we are grateful for that. We don’t know how good she may have been but we do know that she was uncompromising and rigid. Cancelled Tour

Terrible experience. Would never recommend. Guide wouldn’t issue partial refund when we paid $300 plus dollar and couldn’t make the tour due to our delayed flight. We did not make it to our hotel to drop luggage till 4:45 and guide said she was available until 6pm which didn’t make sense. With locals did not help at all, we will be in Europe for 10 more days and they wouldn’t reschedule us in another city.Plane delayed, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Nous avons fait la visite guidée à pied d’Amsterdam avec Christa le dimanche matin dès 9:00 ( jusqu’à midi). C’était très paisible à cette heure et cela nous a permis de profiter de très jolis coins de la ville en restant à l’écart des foules. Christa est très sympathique et parle un excellent français; elle nous a fourni une foule d’informations et d’anecdotes très intéressantes sur des sujets variés (histoire, culture, traditions, vie actuelle, etc). Elle a également pris en considération nos demandes personnelles quant à certains endroits spécifiques que nous désirions voir, de même que l’endroit où nous voulions terminer le tour ( pour être à proximité du Rijksmuseum où nous avions des billets pour 13:00). Nous avons fait une pause à mi-parcours pour prendre une petite boisson avec une belle vue surplombant la ville. Elle en a profité pour nous donner de très bons conseils au niveau des restaurants et des autres villes que nous nous apprêtions à visiter. Bref, ces 3 heures ont passé très vite et je recommande Christa à tous ceux qui veulent en apprendre plus sur Amsterdam et les Pays-Bas en général.Excellente visite guidée!

My mom and I took a food tour with Christa in July, 2022. She really catered the tour to what we wanted to eat, see, and how far we wanted to walk -- even where we wanted it to end! Throughout the tour, she gave us really interesting information about the food we were eating and she was also able to answer the different questions I had about the things I saw around the city. We took the Hidden gems tour with Christa. We had booked the trip at the last minute as a way to deal with jet lag as we were arriving the morning of the tour. Schiphol was a mess and we ended up taking 2 hours to get our bags and were about 40 minutes late for the tour. Christa was quite understanding and met us at our hotel. Although we ended with a shorter tour because she other tours scheduled later. We had a very interesting walk at a comfortable place and a short stop for a beverage and sandwich. She led us a back to one of the canals and we had a beautiful walk back to our hotel. I recommend the tour. I highly recommend Christa as a guide. She is knowledgeable about the city, quite personable and pleasant to chat with.
