Good morning, On Monday, June 2, we participated in a 3-hour walking tour in Lisbon with your company. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the experience and feel it did not align with what was advertised. The tour lacked the depth and substance we were expecting. There were no meaningful talking points or historical insights shared, and we didn’t stop at any locations for further explanation or context. It felt more like a basic walk with brief identifications of buildings rather than an engaging, informative experience. To be candid, we believe we would have received more value from a complimentary walking tour, which is quite disheartening given the investment we made. I don’t usually rate unless the tour was exceptional. We loved spending our morning with João. We saw places we never would have found ourselves, heard great stories about history, both remote and recent. He gave us great recommendations and even after 3 hours was over found us a great place for lunch before he left. It is valuable to get to know a city from someone who grew up there and loves it. João was an amazing guide. He was friendly, spoke excellent English, was informative and interesting, and gave great tips on how to get around the city. He had fascinating historical stories ranging from Christopher Columbus to the Salazar dictatorship in Portugal during much of the 20th Century. Henrique is very knowledgeable, but he doesn’t pepper you with the historical facts, instead, he tells a short story, and if you engage and start asking questions, a beautiful conversation starts. First off, I have to say that Inêz was available within minutes as our original tour guide canceled unexpectedly. So thank you once again for filling in on such short notice. We walked through amazing neighborhoods, heard about the amazing history of Lisboa, tried Pastéis de Belém once again, and enjoyed her pointing out so many little details of structures, monuments, and the history of the city and people. She was able to answer all our curious questions and you could see that she was happy to share her favorite city she calls home with us for a few hours. She even had pointers for some of the cities that were on our itinerary next. João was assigned to us last minute as the guide we picked fell ill. He was immediately responsive to my messages and it was easy to find him at the meeting point. He gave us a fantastic overview of the city and some history as well. Alphe was a perfect host. He arrived on time at our meeting place (which was an excellent starting point). His diction is impeccable and his knowledge is voluminous. We had very few questions because he did such an excellent job of explaining the political, geographical and historical aspects of the city sights. The pace was just right-enough time to take photos before moving to the next point of interest; we never felt rushed and he often asked if we had questions along the way. His love of the city shines through and is infectious. His advice on our route to return to our hotel by the airport was much appreciated and saved us lots of time.
