We booked Dina to take a group of 9 on a guided tour of the highlights of the Uffizi museum. It was a very hot humid morning and we needed her help to buy entry tickets before braving the crowds. Dina provided a great Uffizi tour for our party of three. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. She navigated us through the crowds to see the highlights of the museum, never rushing us, and answering our questions. She told stories about both the artists and their subjects that I had never heard before, even after reading several articles about the museum's most famous works of art. She helped my mother-in-law find a particular poster in the gift shop, made recommendations on places to have dinner, and even walked us to her favorite lunch spot after the tour. We met Dina in the plaza outside Uffizi and she already picked up the tickets I had ordered and we were ready to start an extremely informative 3 hours of Uffizi. So much to cover and so overwhelming but she picked pieces and shared her deep appreciation of the art, politics and religion. We had a large group (9) from ages 7 to 76, at 3pm on a very warm afternoon. Everyone was a bit tired and the Uffizi staff kept re-organizing the groups and individuals awaiting entry into the museum. Dina negotiated the crowds and red tape and got us in and started on our tour. She kept the kids engaged, while answering the adults questions and was able to identify when the kids eyes glazed over and she suggested a break. It was perfectly timed and we we able to refresh and recharge and carry on without anyone losing interest. Dina is knowledgable and well versed in the Uffizi masterpieces and the history of the Renaissance. It was an absolute delight to have her as our guide and I recommend her without reservations. We were so lucky to have Dina as our guide in Uffizi Gallery! She treated us exceptionally well starting from providing with the equipment to hear better her presentation in the noisy environment of the Gallery and finishing with the printed in advance list of recommendations for restaurants and other places of interest. I was very much looking forward to visiting the Uffizi gallery in Firenze, and I was intimidated to undertake the adventure on my own. The gallery holds upward of 4,000 pieces of art, and there is no way I could reliably navigate and appreciate them on my own. Dina Maria blew me away with her knowledge and passion for art and history. She efficiently guided us from one major highlight to the next, and, each time we stopped, I was absolutey captivated. I was captivated not just by the beauty of the artworks, but also by the depth and insight with which Dina was able to analyze and appreciate the artworks. When I say that Dina navigated us through the major highlights, I mean that she really covered the most important pieces in the gallery. She has an amazing background knowledge of the artists and the time periods in which they created the works. Dina was an amazing guide. Our family (my husband and our two kids ages 14 and 11) were supposed to have landed in Florence the afternoon on the day before our tour; however, we missed our connection In Amsterdam due to a delay in Seattle, so the kids were especially tired and jet lagged given our late evening the day before. This is the tour to do if you want personal attention. I have done huge tour groups with the ear radios and this was hands down better, especially with my two boys ages 8 and 12. A tour of any museum can be a daunting and tiring task...trying to tackle TWO of the world's greatest museums in one afternoon could have been both physically and mentally exhausting....BUT...touring both the Accademia and the Uffizi with Dina was exhilarating, informative and FUN...and never boring. Dina brings a love of the city and the art to her tours. Instead of trying to cover as much territory as possible she concentrated on a few highlights and an in depth look into the life, as well as the art, of Michelangelo while sitting in front of his David at the Accademia...and then exploring the changes in art as we moved from the Medieval to the Renaissance in the Uffizi Dina was so friendly and informative that our 17 year old daughter, who thought that touring two museums in one day might not be a highlight of her trip, (touring Gucci, Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana stores are more to her liking...if not her budget)...was fully engaged and entertained.
