Seth met us at our hotel in Berlin and took us all the way to the camp and back. We were a family of 6 with 2 grandchildren, 2 parents and 2 grandparents. Seth set a pace that worked for all of us and helped us all understand what we were seeing. He was knowledgeable about the whole camp system and that helped us gain a broader perspective. He adjusted timing when it rained and made sure we had time for a quick lunch before boarding the train back to Berlin. He saw us all the way to the hotel before departing.
He met all our expectations and we all were glad we went.
Lastly, as a Texan living in Germany, he spoke perfect English. Sachsenhausen with Seth

To put it bluntly, Chris was f***ing awesome! Punctual, friendly, funny, with an endless bounty of interesting information and stories about the region's history. Extremely knowledgeable and despite barraging him with questions, he always gave insightful and thoughtful answers. Taking the tour of Sachsenhausen with Chris gave us the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the culture of the era and how it led to the events and atrocities that unfolded. Thank you so much for giving us such an enriching and amazing experience Chris! Couldn't have asked for a better guide! :D

Chris was engaging, funny, incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history of this amazing city. One half of us hadn't been to Berlin before and has stated several times how much he gained from the tour.
3 hours flew by, a thoroughly enjoyable way to see Berlin.

This tour is a must when in Berlin. It is extremely informative and it is really quite an experience to see a Nazi concentration camp. Our tour guide had a masters degree in history and spent time working in the archives of the Sachsenhausen Memorial making her the absolute perfect guide for the tour. She was extremely knowledgable and was able to thoroughly answer any outside questions that we had. She has also gone through the trouble of making a google map with all her recommendations in Berlin which she was kind enough to share with anyone on the tour.Lizzy gave a phenomenal tour of the site!

Although few remnants of the camp still remain, there is still a sense of horror by the details of the camp that are still present today, such as the tall walls, barbed wire, detention centre (which still has hanging poles, prison cells and a pit), and also checkpoint Z.
The tour was very informative many thanks to our guide Lynsey, who did a brilliant job in explaining in depth everything that went on within the camp and all the events that led to its creation.
Well worth the trip if you want to gain an authentic sense of what happened prior and during WW2.Sachsenhausen Private Tour from Berlin

This was one of the most interesting things we did during our trip to Germany. It was such a stark and visceral reminder of the Holocaust.
Our guide was Liz Mason - she was incredible, as was her passion for the subject. We later learnt that she has academically studied this area for a while and that really shows throughout the tour. She was great!A must for those visiting Berlin

We joined the whole tour with our guide Chris.
I can already tell I've never had such a nice guide, he was calm and was really interested in the group and tour, when there were questions he stood ready to answer them and also very informative, I felt his passion for his job.
Eventho the day was cold and it was a difficult day I'm glad I joined, I had mixed feelings with being on the place but it helped when Chris talked during the tour. He was on moments serious but on other moments he tried to comfort us, which means a lot to me personally.
I recommend Chris as a tour guide! He's young and driven. I also have respect for him cause he's from Canada and now a tour guide in Berlin, learned a lot on his own, like the language, moved to Berlin.1st december I've been to Sachsenhausen with a small group.

When our group booked, we had a plan that if it wasn’t great we would leave and go off and do our own thing... This was quickly abandoned when we met Canadian Chris! He clearly loves his job and is so passionate about history that he makes the whole experience interesting and engaging from the very beginning!
The tour lasts about 3 hours but is set at a good pace and takes you to lots of Berlin’s famous sites. It’s packed full of information, facts and trivia and was honestly a fantastic way to see the City and to learn about the Country’s epic history!
If you’re looking for the best way to experience Berlin I would seriously recommend trying to get on Canadian Chris’s tour. He is a credit to the Sandemans company and is definitely the best guide in Berlin! His love of the City is infectious and we had the most amazing time! In fact we thought he was so good that we’ve set up our own ‘Canadian Chris Appreciation Society’ FB page for fans of the tour to share recommendations and reviews! Can’t recommend this tour highly enough!

Chris was absolutely amazing! Our group just can’t say enough how much we thoroughly enjoyed not only our tour but Chris as well. His knowledge of the area was hands down and he was very accommodating to some of our non walkers and rearranging on the fly. He even took extra time beyond what we booked to make sure we got to do everything on our list. I wish we would have booked him for more than one tour. 100% recommend Chris!Perfect

We had the opportunity to tour Berlin notable sites with Seth and it was one of our trips highlights. Seth was not just knowledgeable but he was friendly, fun, and he paced the tour to our capabilities. We walked a lot but his pace was comfortable for us and very engaging. A tour with Seth is clearly a must for anyone who not only wants to see the historical sites but also wants to learn the history behind them. His history background was appreciated by everyone in our group. We learned so much during our time together about the historical events that we finished being wiser and even more curious. Can't ask for anything more than that.Great Tour Experience

I had a great time with Seth. He is very knowledgeable and flexible. He tailored my tour based on my interests and didn’t dwell on sights that I had already extensively toured such as the Reichstag. In addition to a comprehensive tour, Seth had very interesting insights and perspectives on several of the major events that occurred in Berlin while the Third Reich’s was in control. I would recommend Seth to anyone interested in a tour of the Third Reich and Hitler’s Legacy.Excellent experience.

Aanrader!

Seth was a fabulous guide on our Off the Beaten Track walking tour around the fascinating area of Kreuzberg! Despite knowing Berlin reasonably well we learnt a great deal about the neighbourhood of Kreuzberg and Seth delivered his insights with great knowledge, enthusiasm and humour. Seth was a charming and knowledgable guide. He took us round Berlin at a leisurely pace but we saw so much of the city. He wore his scholarship lightly but talked with great sensitivity and insight about memory and trauma. We visited a beautiful library, the Catholic cathedral, the opera house and a stunning 1920s shopping gallery ( with incredible chocolate shop) as well as the important historic and political sights we had specified. At the Holocaust memorial he was especially careful and respectful.

My 14 yo grandson and I loved our tour with Seth. He told so many pertinent stories to our discussions on what happened in Berlin in WWII and showed us many photos of the original buildings that we discussed that were no longer there. We definitely got what we paid for and more - Seth showed us the Jewish Quarter, many beautiful memorials, talked about the damage that occurred as the Soviet’s arrived, told stories about many events during the war, and captivated us for the entire morning. The tour was well paced (including a stop at Starbucks for some sustenance for my grandson) and the rain didn’t stop him or us for a minute - in fact we hardly noticed it was raining (not!). On a special note, I asked Seth about Jazz clubs as this is a special interest of ours and he went above and beyond, doing research and giving us a list before arrival. I’ll call Seth again the next time we are in Berlin!! So many stories

We wanted a tour focused on history, particularly the Third Reich, to engage our teen children - we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. This could have been dry and/or depressing. However, Chris is exceptionally well read/rounded/grounded/versed in history & politics. He is witty, intelligent and genial, combined with his balanced nature, this makes him the perfect tour guide for engaging persons of any age group, including my partner and I (both keen historians) and our teens. He has such a great understanding of different cultural norms that make him relatable to many different types of people and ages.
He was particularly great at interacting with and being encouraging of our children’s learning of not just the Third Reich, but also the Cold War and Germany’s pre 20th century history.
We provided him with a long list of places we wanted to cover and he skilfully wove it all together and covered most of it (it was an ambitious list and there were issues with trains so we managed to cover everything on foot).
The price was reasonable generally given its quality and with it being a private tour for just the 4 of us. I rated it 10 for value due to Chris easily being fully worth this and more.
Chris also recommended some cool exhibits, bookshop, eateries and vintage stores to assist us to plan the rest of our stay.
Thank you so much for making our trip Chris!11/10 - The Best Guide!
