It was truly a privilege to be hosted by Tu and his family for dinner in their family home. The 15km journey from our central hotel to the Nha Binh district during peak hour HCMC traffic was an experience in itself. We were greeted by Tu and his family and shared an unforgettable evening meal of seafood hotpot, a local specialty. Over the next two hours Tu shared stories of his life and te local culture. His family were so welcoming and generous. We leaned so much and will forever remember the experience. Wonderful local experience

This is a must if you want to experience Viatnamese family life. Tu picked me up and we travelled in the mad Ho Chi Min traffic to his home in the suburbs where I met his wife, her mother and Tu's son Finn who was great fun. Mum in law is same age as me (61) so we had a good laugh. Apparently my hands are too soft - not worker's hands 🤣 The hot pot was delicious and plenty of it, followed by coconut milk jelly, equally yummy and I was given some to take home. All too soon the evening was over but I will treasure my time with Tu and his family 🥢🍵💜 10 star ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Tasty Tu

We loved our Hot Pot dinner experience. If you are looking to have some authentic Vietnamese food and get a feel for home life in Vietnam, this is a wonderful way to do so. The experience was very easy. Tu and his sister in-law picked us up at our AirBnB in the city center and we rode out to his home on the outskirts of HCMC. The ride was about 20-30 min but I don't remember exactly because I was enjoying the experience of riding on the back of a scooter in the city at night. When we arrived at the house we met his wife, adorable infant son, and mother-in-law. They were quick to offer us beverages and make us feel at ease. We enjoyed chatting and getting to know them while dinner was being prepared. The Vietnamese broth was brought to a boil and we watched the ingredients cook right in front of us. We enjoyed the spread of hot pot which included a variety of clams, shrimp, "fish meatballs", beef, and pork. There were also veggies served over the rice noodles. The spices and flavoring were delicious. After dinner we enjoyed flan with cold coffee poured in with the flan. This was a specialty of Tu's wife and she sells it roadside during the day. The meal was topped off with a drink of coconut which Tu chopped right there in the living room. As stated before, the food was very delicious but for us what made this experience something we will talk about for years to come was the experience with the family. Tu's family could not have been more kind and welcoming and it felt like we were their cousins in town for dinner. Highly recommend this experience to travelers wanting to know more about Vietnamese life and families. Don't waste your time eating in an unfamiliar restaurant for dinner on your vacation. Tu ist ein toller Mensch mit einer freundlich offenen Art. Sein Englisch ist perfekt und der Tag war sehr unterhaltsam und Mega informativ. Die kleinen Tunnel sind beeindrucken und auch ich mit meinen 1.86m bin nicht stecken geblieben 😂 Wer etwas über die Geschichte lernen möchte ist hier genau richtig. Der gesamte Ausflug dauert ca 6Std wovon sich aber jede Minute lohnt. Abholung war mit einem komfortablen SUV mit einem Top Fahrer wodurch wir uns zu jederzeit sicher fühlten. Zum Abschluss haben wir noch bar und Restaurant Tipps bekommen welche uns ebenfalls sehr geholfen haben.Super Guide, Super Ausflug

Tu was a great host and guide for a one day trip to the Cu Chi tunnels from HCMC. Communication was great. We met at the appointed time, and headed out. Tu was very kind, bringing us some food to eat during the car ride. It was very enjoyable talking with Tu, and learning more about Vietnam, Vietnamese culture and politics, how he grew up and about his life. We went to a quieter section of the Cu Chi tunnels, and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Visiting cu chi tunnels was an interesting but somber experience. We were happy we chose to drive further to the “less touristy” site rather than visit the closer spot. We booked a trip to the Mekong Delta with Tu and it was our favourite day of our entire trip to Vietnam! Tu is very kind and open to answering any questions you may have, he is very knowledgeable about the area and knows many interesting facts. He took us on a wonderful boat ride on the Mekong where we also got to visit some local farms and a local market. He organised an incredible lunch for us which was one of the best meals we had on our trip. Overall, we couldn't recommend booking a tour with Tu more - it was truly a 10/10 experience!! Best tour!

We had an unforgettable day tour to the Mekong Delta, and much of it was thanks to our amazing guide, Tu. From the moment we met him, Tu was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was clear that he is a true "local" with a deep knowledge of the area. He patiently answered our endless questions with enthusiasm, making us feel completely at ease throughout the trip. Tu's English was excellent, which made communication smooth and enjoyable. A special highlight of the day for me was the lunch. Although it was an additional cost, it was absolutely worth it! We enjoyed our trip to the Mekong Delta with Tu. It was a private trip, where we also enjoyed conversations on various aspects of culture with Tu, in addition to visiting various sites. As feedback, I would like to suggest that that there should be more options to customize the trip based on interests. The lunch with the villager was actually quite an elaborate 7 course meal that was way over the top. Information about this ahead of time would have been useful. This was AWESOME. We spent the whole day touring the area around the Mekong Delta with our wonderful guide, Tu. He took us so many places, gave us customized gifts, and provided incredible snacks. 10/10 would recommend if you are interested in seeing a more remote part of Vietnam.Cannot recommend this tour enough!

Awesome day with Tu. Loved the variety of the trip - it was never dull as we experienced so many different things. The kayak was the highlight for us along with lunch. Tu was exceptional, he is such a kind, friendly, happy and knowledgeable person that spending time with him was like being with an old friend. He gave all the information we needed and also allowed times of quiet for us to take in the surroundings. Tu was able to answer all our questions and showed a genuine interest and love of the subject. The tour of the brick factory and coconut candy making were interesting and the tea and fruit we tasted, delicious! The boat rides and tuk-tuk rides were great fun and it was wonderful to be in the countryside. There was no pressure to buy anything and it was all so relaxed. The Mekong River sadly was disappointing but this had nothing at all to do with Tu. There is quite a lot of rubbish in the river which is spoiling its natural beauty. This is such a shame as it is a very special river and could thrive with a little care. Hopefully this is something that can be actioned as it ruined what was otherwise a magical experience. We cannot recommend Tu highly enough as a tour guide. Tu makes this tour worth doing!

Tu has tailored a Mekong tour for two days and one night for us. Everything was perfect! From Pick up from our hotel in Ho Chi Minh to the accommodation in Can Tho. Tu promised us that we wouldn't run into large tourist groups. We were worried about this having seen videos of similar tours, but Tu kept his word. Yes, most of the stops were places that other tourists visited in droves, but whether through luck or Tu's careful planning or the monsoon weather we avoided the crowds. The stops were interesting. We loved the coconut candy workshop. Our whole family has fallen in love with Kẹo Dừa! The lunch was great, timed perfectly with an intense downpour. The market in Ben Tre was another highlight. The best part of the trip though was the transportation. All the time on boats large and small (always private) and in the back of of an open-air tuk-tuk made the whole thing worthwhile. We really got to take in the scenery. Tu himself is kind, soft-spoken, and well-informed about the local area. We couldn't have asked for a better fit for our family, especially our kids (ages 5 and 8). Thank you, Tu!Excellent Introduction to the Mekong Delta

My husband and I recently visited Vietnam. We had booked a full day tour to the Mekong Delta. I have to say that we made a great choice of tour guide. Tu was amazing. My husband had mobility problems due to recent knee surgery and we thought we wouldn't be able to do everything on offer on the trip. How wrong we were. Tu made all the arrangements and couldn't have been more helpful. We now have lovely memories of a fantastic day. Thank you Tu. Amazing Guide.

Tu succeeded very well in giving us a good and detailed impression of the (daily) life in the Mekong Delta. Even though it wasn't as exclusive and non-toursitic as we expected regarding the price we paid: we met the same other tourists on several points (brick factory, coconut farm, ...) We can imagine (like Tu explained) that other companies 'steel' your tours and hidden gems, but then there are only 3 options: 1/ find other places 2/ adjust your prices to other companies 3/ don't provide the tour anymore. So no complaints about the guide or the program. .... only disappointed pricewise...Interesting day!

One of the more memorable trips during our time in Vietnam. Tu is good - knows his stuff and is full of insight. Doesn't overwhelm you too much with unnecessary chatter and tends to chip with information in where/when necessary (might not be everyone's cup of tea but worked well for me and my family of 5). Most importantly Tu speaks perfect English. The trip itself was great - the journey was smooth and boat trips were exhilarating. the highlight was probably the visit to the ben tre market...there was just something mesmerising about it. We booked the tour because we wanted to see some origin places . All we saw were crowded tourist places and a really bad restaurant: we could not eat the food it was really bad quality and taste . The market at the end was the only interesting thing , we found some good food and fruits there . Cannot recommend this tour . Too bad as our guide Tu was really nice .Good Guide , bad location

Our family did a Mekong tour with Tu. We would have liked to have gotten information on the Mekong area, Vietnam etc, but the tour was much lacking in that aspect. No information was given on the long drives from HCM. The boats, bikes, lunch etc were well arranged, but as a tour guide, we have had many guides that are much more informative. As we still spent a lot of money on the tour, we were quite disappointed. Not a lot of information

We did the roughly 9 hour private tour with Tu and thought it was worth the long drive out of the city. We requested to not see many tourists and Tu provided just that. The guide I originally selected transferred me to Tu without any notice. Picking your own guide is a good business concept, but it also means extra work, especially after you go through the profile painstakingly guessing who may be your best friend, that person decides to ditch you. In any case, upon reading Tu's profile (not sure why he didn't jump out the first time) I decide to stick to the plan. I am so glad we did. Tu is thoughtful, insightful, genuine and speak to the point. It is so interesting listening to a local on their perspective of things. What was in the description we only did one. Did not have a food tasting and really skipped out on learning Saigon. It rained on our tour so very little conversation Tu was a really quiet guy. We did another tour with a different company and the tour guy was hilarious and actually educated and taught us a lot about Saigon and Vietnam in general. very disappointed with the tour and Withlocals. Tu is the quiet type of person, but very open to chat and answer your questions, he is straightforward and explained about our tour priorly our experience, so we knew what we should expect... and of course, we're marvelled way beyond our expectation. 11/10 service and tourism!!! Thank you so much Tu, for organizing the most amazing Customized Mekong Delta Day trip for our group. It was my first time using Withlocals service, as well as customized personal tour and I did not think it was much more than worth it. It was amazing! Tu was very responsive, listening and understanding in order to organize the trip for us without any concern. Our Mekong trip was so much fun and we got to see different areas in the most local ways, we were not surrounded by other super crowded tourist groups, and much rather 1-2 very small other groups which did their own things and go different spots. But our own personal group did our own agenda which was organized carefully by Tu after the booking. We enjoyed every single spot that Tu took us to visit, he also explained about the history, knowledge on the unique delicious tropical fruits that we have tried, took care of our lunch menu to make sure that we were fueled up to continue the trip. The day was super great and fulfilled with laughters and great memories. If you're in Saigon, I would definitely recommend Tu as the local tour guide! Tu was a delight. His English was fantastic and he customised the tour to what we wanted, (which was very food oriented and local places as we didn’t want to go to standard tourist locations). He took us to a local coffee place where you weren’t allowed to take photos (secret place) and had great coffee and iced drinks. He also took us to an underground food hall with lots of locals to try authentic papaya salad and he gave us the opportunity to try something only locals would eat. We had so much fun and would reccomend Tu to anyone who visits Saigon! Brilliant tour guide!

We enjoyed our trip to the delta with Tu very much. The day was filled with seeing different aspects of life in the delta which was very interesting. Although there were a few other tourists around we felt we were not on the usual circuit and were not hassled to buy products.
