Marco was an excellent tour guide who speaks flawless English. We learned lots about Dubrovnik history and about modern Dubrovnik. Marco answered all our questions and gave us pointers on food and craft beer. When he found out that some of the group are Game of Thrones fans, he told us about the filming in the city. We couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Dubrovnik than we received with Marko I. He was personable with a sense of humor and extremely well informed. As a Dubrovnik native, Marko was incredibly knowledgeable about Croatia, the city and its history. He told us remarkable and personal stories about the 1991-92 war and its effect on Croatia. He was flexible so that he easily tailored the tour to meet our needs. Besides Dubrovnik (and yes Game of Throne scenes), we went to Mount Srd for scenic views and Lokrum, a beautiful bio-diverse island. Marco exceeded our expectations. He lead us through Dubrovnik with great history, funny stories and patience. Our large group of 14 was grateful for the transportation from our cruise port to the city gates. Marco helped us shop, arranged for a tour of Lokrum island. He arranged for a lovely lunch at the only restaurant on the island and took us through ruins and botanical gardens. We enjoyed swimming on the island and cliff jumping into the clear waters. Jardanka showed us Dubrovnik old town in a way that we could appreciate her town without being overwhelmed with history. She pointed out the less obvious things around old town away from the crowds. Her recommendations lead us to explore Lokrum island the following day which is a gem especially if you want to get away from the crowds and hike around the island. Wow, what a wonderful day with Jure! He is a historian, as am I, and he did an amazing job. Jadranka was everything you want in a local guide. We enjoyed watching her interactions with several local residents, and loved how kindly she spoke with them, and how they obviously adored her. I mentioned to her that one of our party needed a slower pace, and she accommodated this request with grace and patience. All of us really enjoyed the food and the ambiance of the restaurants she took us to, but her personality was what we all remarked on afterwards. Our tour with Jadranka was our third tour in our 3 days in Dubrovnik, and she made sure we were seeing new things and not repeating information from the other tour guides. She kept to the theme of the tour which was showing us hidden gems of the city. I wish we had done her tour on our first day so that we could have put the information to good use. We had a lovely evening with Jadranka. She was very sweet and knew lots about the city of Dubrovnik. She was also flexible, allowing the men in our group to get beer instead of wine which was very much appreciated. The tour itself just wasn’t quite what we were expecting. We thought we’d be making three stops for different types of drinks and hotspots. It was more of a wine and tasting experience since we only stopped at two wine bars instead of 3 diverse nightlife spots. The boys in our group don’t drink wine so we never would have booked if if we knew that’s what the tour entailed. We did have a lovely time but it wasn’t what we were hoping to experience.Fun but not what we were expecting..

Jure gave the four of us a wonderful private tour around the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Within its walls, Jure pointed out various important places related to the recent bombing by Yugoslavia. He is very knowledgeable on that subject. At our request, he also pointed out a few spots where scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed. It was great to be in such a small group; the experience is so much better than a large tour. And the cost shared amongst four people is very reasonable. First, we are NOT a walking tour people. Never really had a great experience on one — until this two-hour private tour for two with Jure! Not only is Jure so knowledgeable about the layer after layer of Croatian history (he’s a history major at university, and it shows!), but he explains everything at a great pace with amazing detail. He’s not just packed with information, he’s a brilliant storyteller, so you get every detail right as you need it. If you have a question, he’ll not only answer it, but do so with context and probably a factual anecdote. His own personal history growing up in Croatia is riveting as well, and you can see the pride he has for his country, as well as the angst he carries for the country’s well-being. As a basketball fan, we definitely bonded about sports, as well. We saw places in Old town that we NEVER would have discovered on our own, no matter how many google searches we did. We cannot recommend this tour enough. Hopefully, Jure never gets tired of giving them. I thought Dubrovnik would be my least favorite port stop. It ended up being my favorite, because the city is amazing, and because Jure was an ideal guide. (Also recommend the buggy car tour atop the cable car spot). A rich, fulfilling experience
