After a morning of exploring old town and walking the wall, we had a 2 hour window to see the GOT sites. We quickly booked a tour with Romana. She was great! She knew more about GOT than we could ever know and took us to all the key places and scenes. Her picture book helped us reenact in our pitiful way. Karmen was absolutely fantastic! She went above and beyond to help us have the best experiences. We booked a private tour with her, especially because my partner has walking difficulties. Karmen was very flexible and adjusted the tour according to our needs. She's very knowledgeable and passionate about her job. She left us wanting to know more about Dubrovnik. In particular, she researched accessible areas for us, supported us with mobility, gave us good advice on where to eat and drink, shared the bus schedule with us from where we were staying to get into the Old Town, and shared details for a paint and wine experience. Karmen was inclusive and spoke directly to my partner, who was in a wheelchair (unfortunately, this doesn't always happen). She also has a great sense of humour. Marko was an awesome tour guide, and I highly recommend him. We had been to Dubrovnik before, but he showed us this gem of town through the eyes of a local who clearly loves living there. Marko made the whole experience worthwhile. His suggestions and local knowledge ensured we got to see the best of Dubrovnik. It was a pleasure to have seen it through his eyes. “The wine tasting and street food tour is a great experience, not just for the excellent wine and cheese to start, but also for the opportunity to sit and chat with a local, being able to ask any questions. The evening was fun, we learned quite a bit about Dubrovnik itself and its development of the tourist industry in the last few years. It wasn't just a dry lecture, it was a fun conversation where Romana was very open about different cultural aspects, giving advice on how to further plan the holiday and just general smalltalk. While the main streets are quite busy in the evening, the wine bar and the street food shop werent too crowded and still allowed for a decent conversation without having to shout to get over the noise. Romana was excellent as she customized our tour for 11 including small children. The tour included: pick up and drop off from our ship, beautiful panorama shots of Dubrovnik, historical facts including tour of sights where Game of Thrones was shot including photos of scenes! “I cannot recommend Romana highly enough! She is the friendliest and loveliest tour guide we have ever had! It was such a wonderful tour being shown Dubrovnik from a local, she showed us hidden gems and gave us excellent advice from food recommendations to tourist information. She recommended excellent restaurants to eat at and took us to a local shop (which we would have never found by ourselves) where we had some local cuisine and coffee which was delicious, we even bought t-shirts from her fathers shop which was great value and a lovely reminder of our trip. Karmen gave us a wonderful introduction to Dubrovnik perfectly tailored to children, and made sure I could bring the stroller for my youngest. Although my two girls were incredibly shy and didn't talk the whole time, all Karmen's commentary all went in and they were captivated. I have been amused to hear from my daughter's teacher that when she went back to school she educated her whole class on the history of Dubrovnik, the Saint, why there are cats etc. The school were impressed and I said it was our fantastic tour guide! Karmen also took us into a fun Christmas shop, and to a handful of other stops including a great craft beer bar that made my husbands day, and also gave us great advice. As a Dubrovnik native, Marko was incredibly knowledgeable about Croatia, the city and its history. He told us remarkable and personal stories about the 1991-92 war and its effect on Croatia. He was flexible so that he easily tailored the tour to meet our needs. Besides Dubrovnik (and yes Game of Throne scenes), we went to Mount Srd for scenic views and Lokrum, a beautiful bio-diverse island.
