For our first day in Marrakesh we booked Adil as our guide. He was exceptional. Very knowledgeable, very kind, very polite and great fun. We booked two tours with Mohamed; one through the Souks and 'Marrakech by night'. The contact upfront was quick and clear. Right on time Mohamed was waiting for us at the meeting-point. The tours were amazing! Especially the one through the Souks. Mohamed speaks multiple languages, his English was perfect! The tours were a nice blend of information, sightseeing and showing us the hidden places without rushing. He followed our pace and even made excellent photo's of us whilst holding our bags 🙃👌 Meanwhile had a nice chat about a lot of things and we had a good laugh as well! Booked two separate tours with Ouidad for the same day, assuming that when we met up, she would combine them in a comprehensive way, which she did. We had a fun and lovely day exploring old Marrakech. Lots of laughter, information, great sightseeing and shopping. Mohamed was very nice and smiley and speaks multiple languages. He started the tour off with some insights into Morocco and Marrakesh in old medina which was interesting. We also saw a lot of the souks and the metal part of Marrakesh was our favourite part, however after being taken to lots of touristy shops which were very expensive we got a bit annoyed. We were taken to a shop where they sell spices and the total was €80, we only bought a few bags of 100g. Other shops were selling spices for 1/3 or even 1/2 the price. We were offered towards the end of the tour to taste some olives, which isn’t really food as most of the group didn’t eat olives. Even though the tour ad mentioned food, olives weren’t what we were expecting after travelling all morning and day. Overall he was kind and friendly, but the shops he will take you to are very expensive and almost felt like a tourist trap. I think for what we payed he could have told us more about how things were made/history behind what we saw.Friendly but a took us to expensive shops

We booked a souk shopping tour with Hassan and had communicated with him before booking it (to understand what the tour would entail as we had specific shopping needs). Two days before the tour we received a note from Hassan asking for our hotel details for pickup. On the morning of the tour, another man- not Hassan- came to collect us. He told us Hassan had an issue and couldn't make the tour. Things happen, we accepted it. It became clear that there had been almost no communication between Hassan and this other guide. The tour did take us to some stores but for the most part was way less shopping and more sightseeing. However we didn't get a whole not of information and details, just random bits of info. If it had been a sightseeing tour filled with facts and stories we wouldve been annoyed that it wasn't shopping, but at least we would've learned something. In this case, it was n either. I will say the guide was a very nice man though and did try to give us what we wanted but just wasn't prepared or equipped to. When we got dropped back at our riad, we gave him a tip which his mistook as payment for the tour and told us it was too little. Turns out, no one had communicated with him that the tour had been paid for (by the way charged 40% more than what the local going rate is) and we had an awkward five minutes trying to convince him we weren't trying to rip him off. It got sorted but it was a unfortunate end to an already disappointing day. He also mentioned that Hassan had told him a few days ago that he wasn't doing the tour which means when Hassan emailed us for address, he already knew and didn't communicate it. Not what we were expecting

The Medina and its souk could be anywhere eles, regarding the products found there. Hassam was whom made our experience in marrakeche an authentic and worth one. We were able to learn about local traditions and Hassam also showed us the more authentic marrakech. We got to learn a lot and to visit the off track artisans. The true artisans as we felt we were a bit a "made in chine" commerce in the souk. Thanks to Hassam we found out which and why some traditions were still in use, and the the real and authentic products.Hassam made our trip worthwhile

We had an incredible cultural experience with hassan. He adapted our tour and made it a personal experience, we loved hearing and exploring the ‘real’ Marrakesh. We were shown parts of Marrakesh we never would have been able to explore on our own and having hassan there; someone who was born and raised in the souks he made us feel so comfortable and welcome while we delved into the hidden and magical depths of this vibrant city. We were shown so many different processes of handmade authentic produce of Marrakesh from hand chiseled mosaic tiles to leather tanners and beyond as well as learning its origins and its deep history surrounding each item and place. Redouan is een vriendelijke gids die ons de ambachten in Marrakech heeft laten zien. Hij bracht ond naar plaatsen waar we anders nooit gewandeld zouden hebben, het was zeker de moeite om eens te zien. Maar net zoals bij onze toer de dag voordien (andere gids van Withlocals) geven we ook hier de waarschuwing; Weet dat bijna alles wat je in de souks koopt en ziet, niet echt is! Ook hier wordt je naar winkels geleid waar de gids veel commissie ontvangt op de (daardoor veel te dure) items die je koopt. Wij zijn dit pas na de toer te weten gekomen en dat heeft bij ons toch een negatieve indruk nagelaten.Vriendelijke gids

Unfortunately we were late meeting Redouan due to a taxi driver taking us to the wrong area & then telling us to walk ! So we what’s app Redouan who very understanding & help guide us to his meeting point, Once we met up with him we made our way to the Artisan quarter where Redouan explained all the history of Marrakech & then showed us a carpet seller where we were shown all the different styles from different areas of Morocco, we visited all the manufacturing work shops from metal fabricating. Leather crafting. Dying of wool to herbalist, absolutely amazing with Redouan telling us that there was approximately 4000 shop / workshops we couldn’t believe it. Amazing ! We then moved into the Madena which was bonkers. With hundreds of people walking through the market with all kinds of stalls & of course the snake charmers. Entertainers & musicians, Thank you so much Redouan you were an amazing guide with so much knowledge but also very calm with what appeared chaos around us ! Our family of four adults spent a hot but lovely morning with Adil, exploring the souks of Marrakech. Adil was a font of knowledge having lived in the area all his life and he quickly recognised what we were most interested in and tailored the tour to that. He finished by recommending a restaurant for lunch in the Berber souk, a place we would normally have walked past without considering, but where the food was delicious. We are a family of 5, including 3 children (one of which was a baby) so we were slightly apprehensive about whether taking the whole family to experience the souks of Marrakesh might have been a step too far. We needn't have worried because our guide Hassan could not have been any better. In addition to taking us to see all the sights, Hassan also ensure that we took plenty of breaks where the kids (and us) could refresh and cool down to we got the most of the experience. Hassan is a Marrkeshi and knows the city like the back of his hand, and at the end of the tour even took us to a local "non-touristy" restaurant for a spot of lunch which was perfect. His knowledge of the history of the city was unbelievable and we left much better informed than when we arrived. Even the kids found it fascinating! We looked at loads of different guides on different sites, but I cannot recommend Hassan highly enough. 10/10! Incredidible experience with a great guide

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Redouan. It gave us the opportunity to visit parts of the souks that we wouldn't have found by ourselves. Traditional metalworking, a herbalist, Moroccan baths, underground cooking pits and the opportunity to see inside a restaurant kitchen where a whole lamb was being cooked were some of the highlights of the tour. Redouan was friendly and knowledgeable and was generous in sharing useful and interesting information regarding Moroccan culture and history. He even booked us in to a great restaurant for lunch with views of the city and showed us the best terrace for enjoying the panorama of the main square in the evening. Jaafar gave my wife and I an excellent tour of the narrow streets of Marrakech showing us places we would never have found whilst explaining the history and development of the Souks. Redouan took us around the different souks of Marrakesh and explained a little bit about them, which was not to dissimilar to the city tour we did the day before with another guide. We felt that the shops he took us to weren't as unique as they were made out to be. We found many similar shops with the same/better quality items at better prices when we were on our own and with other guides. We expected this to be a more in depth tour of the souks, showcasing some unique gems, but it wasn't...Souks of Marrakesh
