This is a walking tour which take you to the hidden, unexplored old part of the ancient city Varanasi.

We will be walking through that part where you will be able to feel the antiquity, cultural diversity, tradition and life of Varanasi.

We will be visiting some Hindu Temples and discuss the Hindu Culture, religion and life values.

We will also visit some Traditional Indian Gyms known as Akhada's.

We will communicate with some locals and explore more.

  2. Itinerary

    This is what our experience could look like, but it’s not set in stone! Once you book, you can chat directly with your host to make small tweaks to suit your preferences.

  3. Godowlia

    The times square of Varanasi, where we will start this walk. We will gather here to talk about the city in a short and it's History and then we will enter into the streets from here.

  4. Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple

    A small Hindu Temple where we will stop for a brief talk on Hindu religion and try to understand the Concept of God and Religion in Hinduism in a nutshell.

  5. An Old Shiva Temple

    We will enter into a very old Shiva temple, which is not used by the people much, but has a very good view of the river Ganga From its balcony. Let's.talk about Hindu culture more here and the history of a queen without whom Varanasi is incomplete.

  6. A Palace from Inside.

    We will enter into one of those small residential houses, located on the bank of Ganges. This is the chance to see and talk about the traditional architecture of an old house.

  7. A South Indian Temple

    We will reach out to a Temple which is a best example of a South Indian Temple Architecture. Now is the time to talk about and understand different types of Temples in India, and Cultural Diversity in Varanasi.

  8. A Local Traditional Gym

    Further in the route we will enter into a small palace which has a beautiful Hindu Temple and a small Akhada,

  9. Weavers Houses

    Now we will cross through the small area where Silk weavers live and here we may get a chance to see the Silk weaving on Handloom in the houses of these poor silk weavers.

Whenever my husband and I travel to new cities around the world, we hire guides to showcase the city we’re in, and to teach us about its history and culture. In all of our travels, Anish ranks number one among guides. His language skills are impeccable, and he is super intelligent about everything. He’s a relaxed teacher who appreciates all questions. His intimacy with Varanasi’s hidden alleys made for very special experience. He also arranged for us to have excellent front row boat seats at the evening ceremony (Aarti) near or hotel. We hired him again the next day to take us to Sarnath, the site of Buddha’s first sermon, and to a silk cooperative, also enlightening. Can’t say enough good things about him. He was the best.
