Istvan was a friendly and flexible guide. As we hadn't seen the Castle Hill (Buda) side of the city, Istvan was willing to change his usual tour to suit and it was informative and entertaining. Showed us a number of the sights on the Pest side in the three hours but also by spending time at the river managed to highlight key Buda attractions . We started our 2 and a half day visit in Budapest with a 1 and a half hour tour with Emoke - it was the perfect introduction to this beautiful city! She showed us all around the city- gave us great tips on eating places, things to do and a really interesting history lesson. Loved the langos ( not so much the palinka). We had an excellent time with Emőke in Budapest. Her local knowledge of the city and Hungarian history was the cherry on top of a very quick 2 day visit. Emőke was open and honest, friendly and even offered personal suggestions for food to try and places to visit after our time together was over. My sister recommended WithLocals and Nick to us. Meeting was very staight forward and then we were asked what we would like to see. We suggested some historical sights, quirky locations and anything interesting, didn't have to be beautiful. Nick showed us the Jewish quarter including the old ghetto wall and a ruin bar. We went back to the bar for further exploration the next day. He then took us on the underground to Buda for great views, including round a lesser known corner. Nick told us about aspects of Hungarian history and culture from the perspective of someone who has grown up there. He gave us recommendations of other things to see after the tour and also places to eat (and drinks to try).
