We had Artur guide our family around Brugge for a few hours. The way in which he engaged with us and the history of the city was outstanding!! He told jokes and engaged all of us in the stories of the tour. We also had a person who had mobility issues and he was able to move slowly and build in rest areas that tied in with the tour. I can not recommend Artur enough as a guide. We wished all the guides we had on our trip were as good as he is.Artur is magnificent!!!

Jay was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had using WithLocals! Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the history with places and times and dates, but he was so much fun to hang with. Along our tour route we saw the most amazing buildings and sites and coffee houses and chocolate shops with beer tasting, food tasting, and a recommendation to one of the finest restaurants in town. He was so much fun, making us laugh, showing us a music festivals where we took in the local music and enjoyed the entertainment and food. The 3 of us had a thoroughly delightful 3+ hours with Ann. Prior to the tour, Ann’s communications were always super responsive. On the day of the tour, we emailed a final confirmation re: time and place to meet. She was at the meeting place on time … even greeting us with delicious chocolates! Ann is native to Bruges having been born in this city so she knows it really well. She talked about the history of Bruges showing us significant buildings and monuments, but she also talked about local customs and legends along with funny antidotes that made the city come alive for us. As well of the history of the city, she pointed out the best places for waffles and chocolates along with some of her favorite restaurants that offered ‘good value for the money’ — as she put it. Mid-way through we stopped at a great city brewery for some cheese, bread and great beer. Following the tour, we asked if she might send us some recommendations of other restaurants, which she did along with their weblinks, which we really appreciated. A Great Personalized Tour of Bruges

We had a delightful few hours with Jay learning the history and lore of Bruge. Jay was fun, entertaining and deeply knowledgeable. This is a great walking tour of the city and can be modified by suggestion (like the awesome wine store Jay took us too upon request). I had planned every detail of our trip to Belgium, so was thrilled to find this private tour in Brugge where I did not have to think about a thing! Thank you Ann for a wonderful 3 hour walking tour of your charming town! Ann took our family of 5 (ages 16-74) to all the spots I requested and then to many, many more gems. Ann gave us all the history on each site and was happy to answer all of our questions. She knew the best time to view certain sites so we didn’t miss anything and did have to wait. As Jay explained to us at the outset (parents with teenagers), he is a "Bruges boy" and his obvious love and enthusiasm for his home town shone through. It was a pleasure being taken around the highlights of this exquisite city and seeing Jay's favorite, as well as many secret places only a local could know. This included the oldest pub in Bruges (dating from the early 1500s and surely a contender for the best in Belgium) where he shared his expertise in (and guided us through the bewildering choices of) genuine Belgian beer. Thanks to his knowledge, we gained an insight into the cultural and historical significance of, not only beer, but also met Bruges-based small-batch producers of the highest quality chocolate which is so much tastier (and shinier!) than sold by global brands or in chain stores. Jay was at all times keen to tailor the tour to our needs and was extremely generous with his time and knowledge (including of food, history, geography, culture, architecture, music and more). Jay was awesome! He grew up in Bruges and literally knows everyone! He’s funny, knowledgeable and high energy. We learned a lot about the history of Bruges as well as being taken to Jay’s favorite pubs, chocolate shops and waffle shops! He took us down narrow alleys and showed us where to rent bikes, boats and which museums were a must see. Great recommendations and a fun tour that even kept my teenage kids engaged and laughing. I am so glad we booked with Jay! Bruges is a magical place and we got an insiders view on our 1st night in town, which is invaluable and saves time from looking at maps and asking hotel staff for their favorites! Our family of five (with kids ages 9, 12 and 15) loved every minute of our tour with Martin. He had a wonderful way of engaging all of us in the history of Brugge, especially our youngest child - she tends to have a shorter attention span, but she was thoroughly enthralled with all of Martin’s stories. He customized the tour to our interests, with a delicious waffle tasting and a stop at an amazing chocolate shop. He also sat with us at a great local brewery to enjoy a flight of beers. Martin made our experience in Brugge very memorable, and we learned so much more than we ever would have on our own. He made the tour fun, relaxing and informative, and he sent us a great list of places to try on our own afterward. He even walked us to one of the restaurants to book our dinner reservation for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning with Martin, who wove the story of the rise and fall of Bruges with good humour and knowledge. I would highly recommend this tour so you can understand the buildings and places you are looking at. Maximillian being held captive at the window overlooking the main square, why the swans are there etc (hope I'm not giving too much away Martin!) whilst admiring this fabulous time capsule of a small city. Thank you for making it now so memorable. Engaging, friendly and we learnt a lot!

Artur was a fantastic tour guide. We only had 1/2 a day and one night in Bruges and so we wanted to get the most out of it. Artur knocked it out of the park for us. Before he even met up with us, he’d sent us a list of things we could do with before the tour to maximize time. Then his tour took us through the highlights and gems of Brugge and we felt like we knew the city by the end. He also showed us his favorite spots and helped us avoid the more touristy places. We were able to buy some chocolates and gifts that were great value compared to other places. After the tour, he recommended a few places including an awesome little bar that serves their own beer (awesome) that we would never have found on our own. We actually walked past it and had to double back to find the alleyway leading to the entrance. All in all Bruges has been our favorite place on our trip and Artur is a big part of that. Best of Bruges!

We hebben met Hugo een heel leuke wandeling gemaakt door minder bekende delen van Brugge Hij vertelt leuk en onderhoudend en we zijn op plekken geweest die we anders niet bezocht zouden hebben. Helaas was het culinaire aspect van de wandeling erg mager. Bakje (lekkere!) frites, drankje in een prachtig café uit 1550 en een wafel of ambachtelijk ijsje tot besluit. Maar Speculoos koekjes, een toffee of een kaneelbeschuit maken geen culinaire wandeling in onze ogen; en dat was jammer Want Brugge was geweldig, het weer was nog beter, de verhalen zeer luisterwaardig, maar al met al wel een dure wandeling in verhouding tot het culinaire aspectGoede wandeling, maar niet erg culinair
