We really enjoyed our walk around Nghia Tan with Ruby. We enjoyed the local market and hearing and seeing how Vietnamese live and work. Ruby is a great host with an enthusiastic personality, and lots of stories to share. We asked a lot of questions and Ruby was happy to answer them. Ruby was our first guide in Vietnam. She’s very intelligent and well spoken. She taught us a lot about the history of the country. She suggested lunch at Huong Lien where we enjoyed learning how to eat bun cha. We spent the following day together at Halong Bay. Ruby was a wonderful guide on our food tour yesterday. We had arrived in Hanoi only minutes before the tour started. We were feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about eating in our new surroundings! Ruby put us at ease and we started to enjoy trying many new things. My husband and I shared portions and we ended up very full. Almost too much food! Ruby was funny and interesting to visit with. We had a gourmet treat tasting the Hanoi street food with Ruby. As we wandered the narrow streets Ruby taught lots about the Vietnamese cuisine - then we started the tastings. Fabulous food and a great variety - it was a privilege to share this experience with Ruby. Our only problem was there was so much to try - Ruby helped out! I finished off the tour with an amazingly rich Egg Hot Chocolate (an alternative to the famous Egg Coffee). We booked a Highlights & Hidden Gems of Hanoi with Ruby and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Ruby is very knowledgeable of Hanoi, and brought us to places and alleys that we as tourist would not know. She is able to explain all the places very well, including their history. We also tried many street food courtesy of Ruby. Ruby was such an awesome guide with a great personality and lots of local knowledge. Our kids felt so comfortable and she had a lot of stories and history of each place we visited. She took us to the best restaurants that we would never have known. She even answered some of our questions prior to arriving in Vietnam and even helped us with questions after our tour was finished. By far one of the best experiences we’ve had with any tour guide. Ruby seems to have it all: kind, professional, knowledgeable, and super smart. She didn’t just take care of our amazing one day tour throughout Ninh Binh, she made sure we would arrive on time to Hanoi, set us up with a driver at the airport, arrange a one day tour to Ha Long Bay, securing the driver and spot on the cruise for us while she was not coming with us, and then also helping out with our departure. She knows when to plan what specific tour based on the different conditions, and take you to places that are not fully packed with tourists. Can’t recommend her enough. Thank you Ruby! Our kids are still talking about how great this tour with Ruby was! Ruby was in contact with us and replying to our questions and requests from the moment we booked which was fantastic and even alleviated our concerns about the typhoon, in the lead up to our trip. We ate at three Michelin star places, there was so much variety, and good portion sizes so we didn't feel too full too soon. She helped our kids with road crossings, was personable, easy to talk to, and she knew so much to share with us about the city, not just the food. The food options were great, and she showed us how to put the foods together which was always a mystery to us. She was professional, warm, friendly and was excellent customer service.

It was a nice trip. Ruby showed us the area that is inhabited only by the locals: the market, a temple, some living areas and a nice coffee shop. She told us stories about the lives of hanoians and we certainly would not find this info anywhere else. Quite informative and very interesting. Nice trip to off-the-beaten-track places.
