Our first time booking with Withlocals turned out to be a fantastic experience! We had an unforgettable 3-hour tour of Dublin’s southside with Ruairi, a local tour guide I found from website Withlocals and it was absolutely fantastic! As a true Dubliner, Ruairi brought the city to life with his incredible depth of historical knowledge and engaging storytelling. He made every stop feel meaningful and full of character, from iconic landmarks to hidden gems we never would’ve found on our own. One of the highlights was how he took us off the typical tourist path, visiting a beloved local pub The Ha'Penny Bridge Inn where my son Ruairi pulled his first Guinness, a gorgeous local artwork shop called Jam Art Factory, and Sweny’s Pharmacy a charming non-for-profit bookshop and beautifully preserved old pharmacy made famous by James Joyce. Each stop felt like a little window into Dublin’s heart and soul. Ruairi also shared some brilliant foodie tips that we took full advantage of, so many delicious discoveries! One was definitely Murphys Ice Cream! His passion for the city was infectious, and by the end of the tour, we felt like we’d explored Dublin with a good friend who knows all the best secrets. We had a wonderfull time with our Tour gide, Eamon. It was our first time in Dublin so we did not know our way around. Within minutes Eamon showed us beautiful houses and hidden courtyards. My husband and I recently did a City Highlights Tour with Eamon and had a great experience. Eamon met us promptly and delivered an excellent tour on what turned out to be a very windy and cold day in Dublin. It’s clear that Eamon knows the city very well and we found him to be very warm and engaging. It was a very nice lesson in Irish history and a wonderful way to introduce us to Dublin. Eamon also emailed us ahead of time with a list of his personal recommendations for things to do around the city which was very much appreciated. We had a great time getting to know Dublin with Eamon! It's one thing to read about history and quite another to stand by pillars with chunks knocked out while someone points to the spot in the river from where boats were blasting at them! In addition to history nerdery, we learned about the habits and traditions of Trinity students, the status of seagulls (I would never have guessed they're struggling based on their cheekiness), and where to find traditional music.
