Our private tour with Barbara was one of the absolute highlights of our time in Dubrovnik. From the moment we met her, we knew we were in great hands — she’s warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and so passionate about her hometown. Barbara brought the history of Dubrovnik to life with stories that were both fascinating and deeply personal. You could tell she truly loves this city and takes pride in sharing it with others. She took us to a delicious oyster tasting, introduced us to her favorite olive oil shop (which we never would have found on our own), and made sure we caught the Pigeon Parade at noon — something we didn’t even know we needed to see, but absolutely loved! I’m a cat lover and had brought treats with me, and Barbara went out of her way to make sure we visited a few of Dubrovnik’s sun-loving feline residents. Karmen was a truly fabulous guide for our family of 4, my husband and me, and a daughter aged 19 and son age 15. As we know, with the ubiquity of smartphones in teenager's lives, their attention span is short. Karmen managed to keep their interest the whole time. She is a native to Dubrovnik and knows both the historical and the more recent history of the area equally well. She even threw in some fun Game of Thrones sites, complete with stills from the show to compare with the actual area in real life. She made things relevant but kept it fun. Loved seeing the hidden gems too! Please keep in mind that it is HOT in the summer, so book tours early or much later in the day. Karmen was a GREAT guide!Perfect intro to a beautiful city!

This was such a great thing to do on our first day in Dubrovnik. Barbara was so personable, kind and full of the most useful and interesting stories about the city. We learned about its history, its people, its day to day life, festivals, best spots and things to do, idiosyncrasies and the hidden things that guide books or larger tours just wouldn't tell you. Barbara kept us oldies plus our 13 year old and 18 year old fully engaged (and even squeezed in an ice cream stop to keep energy levels up!). Her stories of her childhood and family life in Croatiia really brought things to life. Her stories and the memorial to the Balkan crisis and siege of Dubrovnik was truly moving. We had the most incredible day exploring Dubrovnik with Marko as our tour guide! From start to finish, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and so much fun to be around. We started our day walking the iconic city walls, and Marko brought the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia to life, answering our many many questions with enthusiasm. After the city, we headed out to Lokrum Island for a really fun lunch at nice restaurant where we accidently fed the wild peacocks some lunch and then had fabulous kayaking tour with Marko showing us beautiful coastal caves and getting to do some cliff jumping. Restricting my review to just Dubrovnik is too limiting -- we just toured the Old Town and City Walls of Dubrovnik and it was magical! Karmen does an amazing job of showing the entire city, highlighting the deep and fascinating history and even weaving in the obligatory Game of Thrones stops in a great 2 hour tour. She's smart, engaging and helpful and the best guide I've had in any of my world travels! I would rate 100 out of 10 if I was allowed!BEST GUIDE IN THE WORLD!!!!

Karmen led our family on a 1.5 hour walking tour through the Old Town Dubrovnik. We have 3 young kids (10 year old twins and a 6 year old very energetic kiddo!) and she kept them engaged and happily answered their MANY questions!!! She was full of fun details about the city’s history and gave the adults fun facts about where Game of Thrones was filmed. She paid special attention to the hot weather, finding shade everywhere we stopped. Her recommendations for ice cream and pizza were on point!! This was my family's first time visiting Croatia and first time using WithLocals. We had a wonderful experience with Karmen who provided great insights of Old Town, living in Dubrovnik, and interesting stories of the history of the city. It was quite warm outside, but Karmen sought out shade whenever she had a story to share. When scheduling the tour, Karmen was quick in her responses and even provided us some wonderful recommendations. We booked a 90 minute session, which was the perfect time to cover the history of the city, but also provide us with her own insights. The time with Karmen felt like a friend was guiding you around their city. I would recommend booking this tour on one of your first days, as Karmen provides many good recommendations. This was a fantastic tour hosted by Karmen, such a good intro to Dubrovnik and the city. Karmen was incredible with our kids 9 and 11, she included them and kept them engaged. Ice cream at the half way point was definitely a winner! We got such a great understanding of the geography of the city and history in only 90mins. Thankyou Karmen! Perfecf intro yo Dubrovnik
