Marko made the whole experience worthwhile. His suggestions and local knowledge ensured we got to see the best of Dubrovnik. It was a pleasure to have seen it through his eyes. He communicated prior to us meeting through WhatsApp and ensured he covered all of the things we wanted to do and see. He even used his own car to transport us around, which was spotlessly clean. An added touch was the thoughtful bottle of water he provided for us and he also treated us to refreshments halfway through the tour. Marko was an awesome tour guide, and I highly recommend him. We had been to Dubrovnik before, but he showed us this gem of town through the eyes of a local who clearly loves living there. Vlaho was our knowledgeable and passionate guide who gave us a much deeper awareness about the travesty of what happened in Dubrovnik and the Balkans in the 1990’s. While visiting the massive Dubrovnik walls as a tourist is impressive, the activity is hollow without having an understanding of the many faces of Dubrovnik’s history, expertly woven together by Vlaho: from early times through to the Ottoman Empire’s threat, to the golden years of the Dubrovnik Republic, Napoleon’s rule, Austrian rule, Tito’s Yugoslavia, and finally the splintering of the region into individual states in the 1990’s. Vlaho himself fought to preserve Dubrovnik’s and Croatia’s independence, and his story is fresh like yesterday. We started at the top of Mount Srd, where we could see how this vantage point was critical to saving Dubrovnik from being overrun by the enemy. As we learned about the devastation of lives and the town, we felt a great measure of sadness for what people and this great city had to endure just 30 years ago at the hands of the aggressors. It is people like Vlaho that make sure these memories are never forgotten. Vlaho took us through the old town, pointing out historical highlights as well as sharing guidance for other suggested activities during our stay. Being guided by him on our very first day in Dubrovnik set the stage brilliantly for the rest of our trip!History brought to life

After a morning of exploring old town and walking the wall, we had a 2 hour window to see the GOT sites. We quickly booked a tour with Romana. She was great! “The wine tasting and street food tour is a great experience, not just for the excellent wine and cheese to start, but also for the opportunity to sit and chat with a local, being able to ask any questions. The evening was fun, we learned quite a bit about Dubrovnik itself and its development of the tourist industry in the last few years. It wasn't just a dry lecture, it was a fun conversation where Romana was very open about different cultural aspects, giving advice on how to further plan the holiday and just general smalltalk. While the main streets are quite busy in the evening, the wine bar and the street food shop werent too crowded and still allowed for a decent conversation without having to shout to get over the noise. Overall would definitely recommend the tour to get a more personal view and experience in dubrovnik.”Local experience

I organised this tour for 2 for my partner's birthday. I chose Vesna based on previous reviews. Vesna not only gave a superb tour, but was able to answer our many questions about what we were seeing and history of recent happenings in history. I asked Vesna to direct us to a bakery but she surpassed this by taking us to an excellent restaurant for bubbles and choice and cake. We had only a day and a half in Dubrovnik and needed someone to give us an overview upon which we could make the most of our time in the city. Marko more than filled that need.
