Gennaro is a superb guide to Napoli. He loves his city and his enthusiasm is carried through everything he’s teaching while guiding you. He many times took us just blocks off where the regular tourists go and let us see the real Napoli and not the gaudy tourist traps. As you walk the streets many of the locals merchants see him and their mutual interaction and affection is evident. Naples for first timers can only be described as organized chaos and a bit overwhelming. But when we met up with Gennaro for our (food) tour, everything slowed down. Gennaro was a great guide. He took us to Centro Storico which is main artery of the City. It was filled with shops and vendors. Great for whatever you need. As we walked the crowded alleyway, we stopped at Gennero’s favorite spots. And boy they did not disappoint! Forgot what you see on Instagram. The places we went to were quintessential Naples. All local. All fresh. From Buffalo mozzarella to proper Neapolitan pizza. Everything we ate was amazing! And while we ate, Gennero gave us little tidbits of the City’s history. If you’re looking to dive into the chaos with a local, Gennero is your guy. My wife and I enjoyed every second of the 3 hour tour with him. I’ve never eaten more in my life!

Our 3 hours tour with Nino was great! He was very kind, gave us a lot of hints where to go in Naples, where to eat and how to navigate in the city. We met Nino at one of the great Italian monument; at Dante’s Statue. I loved the fact that Nino took time to explain the local culture. He showed the point of interest, and made us feel fully oriented in the city. The plans we had and have for upcoming days will go smoother, as we were personally shown by Nino, where what transport leaves and to where. And what museums are the most important. They are not always pointed out in travel books, as those are written to a specific public. The chaotic Naples seemed immediately easier to visit, and our preoccupations just flew away, feeling easy and safe in this city. Good tips about what and where to eat, were also great. We hebben Gennaro als gids gekozen op intuïtie. En we zijn gelukkig met onze keuze dat Gennaro ons ging begeleiden in Napels. Voor onze meeting hebben we contact gehad via telefoon en whatsapp. Bij kennismaking hadden we meteen een goede match. Gennaro was duidelijk wat we hebben geboekt en vertelde ook wat er eventueel mogelijk is. Gennaro stelde voor om naast de bezienswaardigheden ons ook te laten kennismaken met “local food”. We lieten ons verrassen en ik kan u vertellen dat het een absolute aanrader is. Om te beginnen met de bezienswaardigheden in de stad. Vanuit de hoogste punt van de stad hebben we uitleg gekregen van hebt ontstaan van Napels. Daarna in de lager gelegen gedeelte van de stad de rest van de toer. Ik ga niet alles vertellen. Napels moet u zelf ontdekken en ik kan u Gennaro aanbevelen. Iemand die echt van Napels houdt en van haar inwoners. Gennaro was bekend bij velen en dat merk je. Gennaro is ook iemand die veel van de wereld heeft gezien, en ook dat merk je. Iemand met een brede kennis en passie voor zijn vak. Wat betreft de “local food” toer. Het was “another level”. Ik beschouw mezelf als iemand die van lekker eten houdt en weet wat lekker is. Het eten die we kregen was fantastisch. Niet normaal zo lekker en eigenlijk maatwerk wat je lekker vindt. Gennaro wil echt het beste voor je. Een voorbeeld: antipasti was niet normaal zo lekker. Ik heb nog nooit gehoord van gefrituurde pizza. Dat zouden ze overal in de wereld moeten verkopen. De pasta met rundvlees…mama mia. Het dessert OMG. Een espresso of zoals de echt Napolitaan zegt: caffé toe en een limoncello als aperitief.
