Cristóbal is an excellent and knowledgeable guide. He toured us around the city and gave us lots of information about things we would not otherwise know or find out easily. He took us to local places to eat delicious food and told us about the history of the markets. We walked through parks, cultural areas and we saw beautiful buildings. More than that we fun with him because is a lovely person. Nothing was too much trouble and he continued to give us advice on how to get to our next destination and what to watch out for. The bar and restaurant recommendations he gave us for our evening were also excellent- now we have a pisco sour headache 🤣 He’s a really awesome guide and we totally recommend doing this tour with Cristóbal! Cristobal went out of his way to plan an amazing day out for us to fully experience Santiago and Valparaiso. We had a short stopover and Cristobal managed to cram in a food & history tour of central Santiago followed by an afternoon exploring the alleyways and street art in the hills of Valparaiso finishing with a lovely evening meal in a backstreet restaurant. Cristobal has an extensive knowledge of Santiago/Chilean history along with a true foodies love and appreciation of everything edible to be found in the city (including a few sweet highlights from the south). We asked Cristobal to show us some of his Santiago favorites, a bit “off the beaten path” - and he delivered! We saw some beautiful plazas and learned lots of history, enjoyed a classic cafe, and ventured to the fish market for a delicious lunch. Had an enjoyable and enriching time with Pablo. The tour was a good balance between showing us local spots, sharing the history and more importantly giving a wholesome context about Santiago. He was open to all our questions and actually customized some things (like taking us to a subway and 3 different stations) based on what we had done and not done. We were very disappointed with this food tour The first three tastings were a piece of fruit from three different stalls which he peeled, cut up and we shared The fourth was olives from a stall, Pablo then took some cheese out of his bag and gave us a small slice. We then went to the fish market - the area did not feel safe, I had to carry our small rucksack in front of me, my wife had to walk between the guide and me, the atmosphere was oppressive and we saw raw chicken legs and raw fish being sold out of black bags on the pavement We then went to a fish restaurant in the fish market and had three dishes. Pablo did not explain what they were, he got us one tin of beer and this was divided between the three of us, he then went off and made a phone call for 25 mins - the food was not edible and we left it. We said we did not want to continue the tour and to take us near our hotel where we felt safer. He asked if my wife liked ice cream and if I liked coffee. So he got us one ice cream and one coffee. This tour is not in a suitable area for tourists, and the food was not worth the money. Not a suitable tour for tourists

Cristobal is was warm, engaging and insightful, and showed us where the locals shop in the Santiago markets - rather than where the tourists traditionally go. They say if you really want to understand a place its soul, its scars, its rhythm you sit down and eat with its people. Bourdain said that, and damn if he wasn’t right. I landed back in Santiago under the cover of night, checked into some no-frills motel with flickering neon and just enough hot water to remind you you’re still alive. A few hours of sleep, then straight into the streets with Pablo my guide, my local compass, my translator for the Chilean chaos I was about to dive into. We walked. We ate. We walked some more. Santiago unfolded itself in layers old colonial bones wrapped in graffiti, street vendors slinging empanadas like they were dealing secrets. Pablo told me stories of dictators, poets, and late night revelers. He laughed when I mentioned going out after midnight. You gringos are either brave or stupid he said. Maybe both. Day and night here are two different animals. By day, it's a sun-drenched canvas of history and hustle. By night, it hums with something raw, something electric and slightly dangerous. I got my steps in. I got my fill. And in between bites, I got just a little closer to understanding this city.Full belly, open eyes

Alvaro was wonderful. From fast and frequent communication before our arrival in Santiago to being 15 minutes early to pick us up at our hotel, fantastic. The tour itself was great, Alvaro had tailored it to fit out walking limitations and made sure not to rush. He is a walking encyclopedia on Chile and Santiago. Our tour was just what we wanted, an overview of the city and a gondola ride for the views from up there. A real added plus was our driver, Christopher. This was a great first-day-in-Santiago trip. Our guide, Alvaro, met us at our hotel and had transportation arranged for the afternoon. We viewed the city by cable car and funicular to start with, seeing the famous (and huge) Virgin Mary statue & temple along the way. We toured closer to the city center, visiting older colonial era buildings and monuments along with newer places of historical and governmental significance. Our guide gave us a great insight on Chilean customs, traditions, and history throughout the experience.Great intro to the city
