Long is the man! He is VERY knowledgeable about Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples. He told us the history of the different temples and was patient when we asked questions. Since he is a former school teacher, you can really tell he has a passion for teaching. In the morning, Long met us at our hotel on time and knew the best spot for seeing the sunrise at Angkor Wat. Throughout the tour, he took great pics of us in scenic spots and his tuk tuk driver always had cold water available. He was a pleasure to talk to when traveling between temples and we learned about Cambodia and its more recent history. He gave us many good restaurants to try and even a recommendation for a private driver to Phnom Penh. We had a great day with Long at the Angkor Wat temples and during the sunrise tour. He gave us new insights into the temples by explaining the history and importance and was very kind and considerate along the way. Long knew all the great spots to take photos and offered to make plenty of them. He also gave great insight into modern day Cambodia and how the locals live by talking about his own experiences. Communication was easy through WhatsApp and he was on time on both days we were going on a trip with him. The tuktuk was also great, they always had cold water waiting for us whenever we left the temples (it was needed, it was very hot). Ngoun took my wife and I on a one day trip to Ankhor Wat and other temples + a one day tour to a waterfall, the lying Buddha and the floating village. We particularly enjoyed the amazing tour Ngoun had put together for us on day one. we always enjoyed the second day. We had the best experience of Angkor Wat solely because of our tour guide, Long. He is extremely knowledgeable of the history and culture of not only Angkor Wat but also Siem Reap. We did two tours with Ngoun (Lux).. the 10 tasting tour and a city tour. Lux’s English is flawless and he is very knowledgeable about local ciulture and history. The food tour was great.. terrific local places and dishes altered to meet my dietary needs without a problem. Local drinks were missing though. As we had already seen some of the city our tour was modified but Lux still found different places for us to see. Very pleasant trips with informative commentary. Knowledgable friendly guide

Lux demonstrated excellent knowledge about Cambodia, which is the main reason for the three-star rating. His expertise on the country's history and culture was evident throughout the tour. However, several aspects of the experience were disappointing: 1. Pacing & Guidance style: The tour felt rushed, with Lux constantly hurrying us along. This made it difficult to fully appreciate the sights and take in the atmosphere. Lux often walked ahead of the group, which made it challenging to hear explanations or ask questions. A more inclusive approach would have been preferable. 2. Tour duration: Despite paying for a private tour, Lux cut the experience short by two hours. This was particularly frustrating as there were numerous interesting temples within easy reach that we could have explored. 3. Value for money: Given the premium price paid for a private tour, the overall experience fell short of expectations. While Lux's knowledge was commendable, the tour's execution left much to be desired. For future visitors, I would recommend seeking a guide who balances expertise with better time management and a more attentive approach to their clients' needs.Yay and nay and the same time

The guide and driver were excellent and took great care of us. We really appreciated the cold wash clothes and cold water each time we returned to the vehicle. Ran was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and provided many good insights. Breakfast stop was very good (fried pineapple was delicious!). The 4:45 AM start of the tour wasn’t entirely necessary and we could’ve started a little later in the morning and still seen the sunrise….unless someone is really looking for the perfect seat and needs to get there early. This was our second tour with Long, and such an emotional one. Visiting Kampong Phluk, a fishermen village on the Tonlé Sap lake is as rare occasion to discover Cambodia, hidden beyond its majestic temples. And getting there in the late hours of daylight, in dry season, displayed the reality of families between their boats, and their houses nested on the top of high rising wooden poles many meters above water level: fragility, solidarity, determination. Unfortunately we didn't have the best night compared to other food tours we have done with WithLocals. In terms of the tour, we spent long periods at different restaurants waiting for food (up to 30 mins at one stop). Long was very pleasant but it was difficult to make conversation and not the most enthusiastic. My family and I I didn't enjoy Cambodian cuisine compared to others in South East Asia but obviously that is pure personal preference.Uninspiring Tour

We were on our second trip to Angkor Thom and so wanted to see some of the quieter temples. We’d had some suggested to us by a family member and asked Long if he could tailor a tour for these to last for about 4 hours. Long took us on a fantastic tour of the temples we wanted to see. He’d obviously prepared well as he shared lots of information and background to each one. He also gave us a good insight into Cambodian life and was the perfect guide. Long is an amazing guide: extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient with tourists. Made quite a few good jokes and took great pictures:). Seriously, he is a top notch guide. We were impressed by his knowledge of history, art, and religion references ( both Hinduism and Buddhism). We knew a few things about Angkor Wat and his explanations were not only accurate but also more detailed than what we expected. He is also up to date regarding latest theories about Khmer history.
