Wir hatten eine Pompejiführung bei Veronica gebucht. Bereits im Vorfeld nette und verständliche Kommunikation. Leider war Veronica kurzfristig verhindert, hat uns aber sofort eine ebenfalls deutschsprachige Vertretung organisiert und den Kontakt hergestellt! Es lief wunderbar, unser Guide Nicola hat uns zunächst trotz Bahnstreik nach Pompeji gelotst. Die Führung war höchstinteressant und wir erhielten viele Informationen und Einblicke! Wir haben in zwei Stunden sehr viel gesehen, gehört und unsere Fragen beantwortet bekommen! Ich kann jedem nur empfehlen, Pompeji mit Führung zu machen und über withlocals hat alles wunderbar geklappt! Grazie mille, Veronica und Nicola! Absolut empfehlenswert!

This tour was more amazing than we could have imagined. We wanted an authentically local exploration of the food the city has to offer, and Giovanni provided exactly that. We did the kick starter tour and it was so fun, so informative. He is from Sorrento and knows everyone. “Gianni Red” is just awesome! He pointed out the best places to eat, gave us some history of the area and best of all, shared some fun things for us to do while we were there. You need to take the tour shortly after you get there so you get a feel for the area. You really can’t go wrong with Giovanni’s tour.Giovanni is AWESOME!

After a long and harrowing drive from Sienna to Sorrento, my wife and took a couple of days to acclimate ourselves to Sorrento. Truth be told, the views from the cliffs surrounding the Bay of Naples, with Mt. Vesuvius and all the barrier islands can occupy your time for a while. It's a view you don't want to miss or compromise in terms of time, if you have it. If you dont, make it. We decided on our third day to book a tour with Alessandra to learn more about Sorrento and the surrounding hillsides. Seeing a place is one thing, experiencing a place and its people with someone who lives there takes things to an entirely differnt level. This is what we love about Withlocals. Alessandra was quick and efficient with her communication as we met her promptly under the statue of Sorrento's patron saint, Saint Antonino. From there we were guided through the streets, shops, cafes and cathedrals that define Sorrento. Along the way, Alessandra peppered our views with perspective and an understanding that no guide book or wikipedia page could ever hope to provide. Highlights included Via Santa Maria della Pieta and the Basilica di Sant'Antonino among many others. Alessandra's pride of place was infectious. The enthusiasm and joy she exuded while sharing stories, not just photo opps, was wonderful. In our experiences with Withlocals what we have come to enjoy as much as the knowledged gained about where we are, it's the new and lasting friendships we have made with nearly all of our guides. What a true local experience trying out all the things we wouldn’t have even come to know of as a tourist. Visiting the dairy was such a nice idea. I was a vegetarian and my husband wanted to try everything that was non vegetarian. Giovanni took such great care of our preference. Giovanni was an amazing guide through the local food scene of Sorrento, with some history sprinkled in along the way. We sampled amazing pastries and confections, sipped limoncello with a wonderful shopkeeper, and enjoyed vino Rosa with authentic fior de latte and provolone with Sorrento salami at a local dairy. The gnocchi with fresh tomato sauce was unbelievable and was served in a lovely bar with a cast of characters that felt very authentic. It was like spending an afternoon with a good friend who knew the area well. It was just the three of us, so we were able to practice our Italian and ask MANY questions about the food and area. Giovanni was happy to provide many recommendations for other things to do and see in the area. The tour was 3 hours and was easy to walk. We were a group of eight, the majority in their early seventies. After exchanging texts with our guide Giovanni asking him to limit the amount of walking and to make sure we had a sit down food tasting in a local restaurant, this friendly, engaging guide did exactly what we requested. To begin our tour, we drank wine, sampled meats and cheeses at a remarkable cheese store, loaded with typical products. We enjoyed speaking with the owner and Giovanni about the various products while sitting at tables outside this remarkable shop. Afterwards, after a short walk, we sat down to more wine and pasta at a restaurant that had musical entertainment. An incredible, fun time was had by all, as we ate, drank, sang and danced. The food was excellent. We completed our food tour by visiting various shops in Sorrento's historical center, sampling gelato, chocolates, and, of course, Sorrento's famous limoncello. The tour was special, made more so by our guide Giovanni. An incredibly enjoyable evening!
